Say Hasbro decided to release sets of repainted droids like R2s, R3s, and R4s in assorted colors, would I be the only one to buy them, and Mark2D2?

Heck no, I bet almost everyone here would buy something like that. I know I would!

I'd like some astro droids. they should think about making a 3 or 4 pack of those, with some other misc. stuff like they do with some of the other multi figure w/accessories.

Definitely! Starting with the various R2s from ANH...

Look at how well those "Star Tours" droids are selling. Hasbro could clean up with an astro mech 4 pack. They could market it with the Imperial 4-pack, Bounty Hunter 4-pack and Hoth 4-pack!:D

We have talked about this a few times and heck yeah I'd love it! Astros are my favorite droids, but if Hasbro was to put together a droid 4 pack, they would probably throw in 3 rehash and one new repaint. This what I thnk Hasbro would do, POTF2 C-3PO, POTF2 R2-D2, POTF2 2-1B Medic and another repaint R3. Just another set to buy for one figure. Prove me wrong Hasbro.

If they re-packed the red astro mech from the Queen's Royal Star Ship it would sell like hotcakes, no matter what other droids they put in the set.

Just my opinion.:D

I'd definitely get this, but I still want a great regular R2-D2. :D

If they packed the Astro 4 pack with the Queens red Astro (someone please post correct name) Commtech R2, R2-B1 and a correct R5-D4 it would be a one hot set. Red sells for 30+, R2-B1 goes for 20+, CommR2 goes for 15+? It would be a great deal!

WOW, yeah...that would ROCK!!!

How about a docking set as an accessory, you know, like the one that came with R2-B1, but bigger. Like a row that would hold 3-4 Astro mechs (like on the Queens Star Ship).

I can't I'd jump the chance for a droid set. But would I buy it, sure. Personally I prefer R3, R4, and R5 units (maybe an R1 for the fun of it) because I've R2 units coming out the yin yang. Grant it most are R2-D2 but we some variadty.

"...they go for 30+ on e-bay"

really? huh. I paid a little less than that for my entire starship on clearance. oh well, I'd never sell either so no matter.

thanks for the r2 reminder, I ordered some loose figs and got shorted the r2 for my x-wing.

I would definitely buy it...especially if the Red R2 was in it.

Heck, I'd jump for joy if they did this! If they re-issued the Commtech r2, I'd like to see it without the restraining bolt. And throwing in the red R2 would be a great idea. For the other two, maybe the black R5 from Death Star 2 and another Rebel astro droid from ANH. But as for the big accessory, I don't know. How about a power droid, maybe?

jpak001

I'd like it if they just did the R1, and a repaint R2, R3, R4, and maybe another droid instead of a bunch of useless accessories. That would be just perfect, and would sell big time!

Hasbro is planning to produce a R1 Fall of 2018 right before Toybiz buys the rights and produces good SW toys. That was mean huh? I'm sorry Hasbro, I love you.

Mr. JabbaJohnL

Well, the Commtech R2 is pretty nice. However, it is limited to Tatooine scenes with its restraining bolt and sand weathering. Also, it has that damn light-up eye and a kind of misshapen head. If they just repainted the red R2 to be be R2-D2, that'd be great. :)

droids, we don't need know droids. but with all army builder/multi-figure packs, it's a great way to get figs at slightly reduced price over what each would cost individually. i'd certainly be up for a 4 pack of droids.

heh, could you imagine, a 7" Darth Vader with 30 points of articulation and laser scanned sculpt.

If ToyBiz had the SW line, that would be a dream come true!

I wouldn't buy an astro droid set because I'd ratherhave the other unproduced droids like the sandcrawler ones or any of the many we see in the saga. New sculpts and interesting shapes rather than the same old barrel shaped thing. If you want a different colored astro droid just repaint it. I want R1 or CZ-3 or Watto's welding droid or any other interesting droid. Astro droids have been done to death. The only one I'd want is an R2 with all his accessories and a swappable front panel so you get a piece with all his tools deployed from the Endor bunker scene where he goes bonkers. Throw in the bartender tray and a magnetic serving extension with a magnet in the top of R2's head to attach it to. The different head accessories like his periscope and antenna. I'd buy that like a shot. Anything else wouldn't interest me.

Hasbro would get my money for at least one set.

I'd love an astromech 4-pack, or any droid 4-pack, for that matter. Only I'd like to see them all (or at least, most) be droids we haven't seen yet. Like a blue-bodied R3, gray blockade runner R2, and red & white R4. Preferably the astro set would have one each R2, R3, R4 & R5, with the R5 being an all-black Imperial unit. The pack-in could be R1-G4, which I think should be acceptable since the astros would all just be repaints of existing molds, except for the R5 dome.

Another good one would be a bipedal-type 4 pack, with the silver death star droid, red C-3PO, Imperial medicbot, and new sculpt CZ-1.

There are a couple other cool bipedal droids out there that could be made with only new head sculpts, like that very cool shiny black Aliens-headed Imperial version of EV-9D9 that is in the Star Wars: Visual Distionary, or Jabba's Chess playing BG-J38, with the yellow Spy-Vs-Spy head on 8D8's body. Pack that one with EV's data-stand.

Regardless, they should pack a new astromech repaint in with every 4-pack or accessory set, since those are the only ones I'm buying!

I'd buy them. I like the 4 pack idea a lot. Display them like the new TRU 4 packs with docking stations and droid accessories and I'd snatch them up. Heck, my wife would even get a set for herself. Her favourite part of Star Wars are the droids.

Speaking of droids, does anyone know of, or have, a good front shot of R4-E1, the red/white droid from Mos Eisley? I am trying to paint an R4-M9 to match him, but can only find side views.

What would be cool if Hasbro would release a build-it-yourself droid kit, with enough stuff to make about four or five different droids. Kinda like the old Kenner droid factory. I had the droid factory as a kid (still have it, minus a lot of the pieces) but it was a cool playset.

Absolutely not! I think it is a sensible idea. Then again, when was the last time Hasblah did something REALLY sensible? Since they have deemed two Jawas (or one Jawa with a GNK), the new Yoda and Chian as well as the Ashla and Jempa figures small enough to pack two on a card... then why not do that with Astro Droids? If not a four-pack, then DEFINITELY a two-pack.

I'd be the first in line to get an astromech droid 4-pack. They are just about the best figures produced by Hasbro. The only reason why I'd even consider getting the Imperial Forces TRU exclusive is solely for that black astromech.

I would buy all I could get my hands on. Droids and Rebel pilots are what keeps me collecting and are what got me into customizing.
