Well it looks like those who wanted the Detention Device that Obi was in is coming our way to a TRU. It come with 4 jedi's and can be seen at GH. So far it's a mock up, but the device looks real.

what is the site you can see it on?

Here's the picture and info from the site. I doubt that it will be that Obi-Wan that's included in the set. And I see it also more likely that they include the POTJ Plo Koon instead of the Saga one pictured. :)

Jedi Army Mock-Up With Detention Device
5/31/2003 10:46:57 AM | Reported by Adam_May

Collectors were disappointed by the Geonosis Arena playset's exclusion of a few key pieces presented at Toy Fair 2002, including the Geonosis Detention Device that trapped Obi-Wan Kenobi for Count Dooku's interrogation.

Galactic Spy "Desertshore" has sent us a photo of Hasbro's mock-up for the forthcoming Jedi Army set from the Clone Wars line for your viewing pleasure. Collectors will spot a very welcome addition to this set. Hasbro may be including the Detention Device at long last. (They never waste a mold.)

Keep in mind that this is a mock-up, and the Jedi Army set is coming with all new figures, which we previewed at the Hasbro Press Event this spring. Hopefully we'll see the Geonosis Cannon from the Arena playset surface in the Droid Army set.

*UPDATE: Our apologies for the confusion, but we have been corrected by our source. This set IS NOT the same set as the Jedi Army threesome previewed at the Hasbro Press Event. This set is, in fact, another exclusive set, similar to the Toys'R'Us Imperial, Hoth, and Bounty Hunters sets due out this year. It will feature these four characters, although they may be altered or repainted in some manner, and these accessories. Again, we apologize for the confusion.

As always, readers beware! Everything is subject to change at Hasbro's whim. However, this a great sign of things to come for the Clone Wars addition to the Epic.

Thanks for posting that JarJar. I hope they dont use those figures or even those characters. The obi wan is a must since there is the detention device but, The rest should be new jedi. Im sure they wont be since the other three 4 packs are older stuff. But hey. I want one whoever is in the box.

Great, another nice 4 pack! Man I hope they're gonna be different figures... I'm sure they probably will be though... I mean, they pictured Nikto Jedi without his cloak. Even Hasbro wouldn't try to pass that off as a new figure........... .........would they?

edit: Ooops, I didn't notice that part where it said "this is a mock up, and they will be all new figures". Sweet, more Jedi!

I'd suggest paying particular attention to the update, as that is the most current information. :)

Looks decent to me. I hope it isn't those 4 figures though. At least make different sculpts and not repaint them.

I think it looks like crap. Jedi are so boring anyways.

This is so much potential for them to do somthing better with this set. Maybe keep POTJ Seasee Tiin, change the Saga Plo Koon to the POTJ one. Put a weequay head on the Nikto Jedi with the regular arms. And then stick Pilot Obi-Wan without action features in there with a better head. Or they could drop one of them and put a Command OOM-9 red colored Battle Droid in there. :)

i don't think this set will see the light of day as depicted. 1st flaw detention device had nothing to do with jedis. was a means to hold a jedi captive for the separatists (dooku) so why include it with a collection of jedi. 2nd flaw hasbro is releasing a jedi 3 pack for the clone wars line, this would mean an exclusive 4 pack of jedis and a 3 pack of jedis released at approximately the same time.

now if it's a 4 pack including dooku, obi wan, geonosian warrior(s)/battle droid and a detention device that makes sense. otherwise just package obi with the detention device and knowing hasbro make it a 'deluxe' fig.

I hope that those are not the figures that will be included.

surely the Obi-Wan interrogation prison thingamajig should be in a cinema scene?

It would include an all new sculpt of Obi-Wan and a very neutral but thoughtful Count Dooku, hands on his hips (but also lots of articulation) with lightsaber hilt on his belt.

Whaddya think? :)

Sounds good, and a Geonosian Guard in guarding stance thrown in as well.

I don't really mind the CC Obi, Nikto w/o Cloak or Plo Koon rerelease, but that horrid Saesae rerelease?! C'mon... The figure could hardly move, and even worse they're actually using his purple POTJ lightsaber. At least in that pic they are. Come on, get with the new figures! I want to see some useful multipacks than the statues we're getting in the 3-packs.

Its about time Hasbro makes the Detention device Obi was floating in. I've been wanting one of those since the previews.

It would have been simpler to actually put out a new Obi that would fit the detention device and save us some money. For those that want the device this is going to be a rather expensive purchase. Likelihood is re-issued figures. My interest in the whole star wars figures hobby is starting to wear thin now. There are the odd things that interest me because they are new but on the whole the entire line is looking stale and dull these days, not to mention how difficult it is to actually find anything. Why keep adding to the list of things we'll never find at retail. Why can't they just get the stuff we're supposed to have seen out to us now? This is an entirely stupid item. There's more than enough stuff due out already for 2003 and hasbroken should be concentrating on that not making more hassle for collectors.

G.H. now says that it will include those 4 characters, but with (maybe) different sculpts....

Thanks for saving me $30 US Hasbro....now I don't need to buy this one too!!!!

So much for being a completionist............

would you be able to list which things have you found this year Jargo? I'd be interested to know cause I've been able to get the things I want. (I'm not a completist at all though.)
Have you not even found Darth Tyranus and Padme and Obi-Wan Acklay Battle?

I agree. I think this is completely stupid on Hasblah's part. I mean... really, I want that detention device but it SHOULD have come with the Arena. If nothing else, make a Cinema Scene. The fact that they are making this a TRU exclusive (that none of us will probably be able to find in the US) and including 4 previously issued figures is plain awful.

I want to cry.

The stuff I've picked up has all been from online stores who buy from the orient or other non hasbroken suppliers. I'm talking retail. large chains who aren't stocking anything new. Britain is barren of new toys. It's only the specialist stores who have been stocking stuff.
As for what I've bought from these specialist importers,
Sandtrooper army builder set x5
Tusken raider
Padme droid factory
Research droids
Tatooine speeder with manakin
Geo speeder w/ Poodoo Dooku
Rebel fleet trooper red hair x2
Rebel fleet trooper black hair x2
Lama Su and clone freak boy

Generally speaking even when TRU stocks new stock they don't get the TRU exclusives in Britain. That's left to the specialist importers and the price goes through the roof. So army builder sets are too expensive to be able to actually build an army. It also strikes me as somewhat churlish of hasbroken to re-issue figures that weren't hard to find when originally released rather than actually re-issuing the figures that were from the ends of certain lines. To my mind, releasing a quintet of figures: EP1 Padme battle w/ firing blaster, Sio Bibble, R2-B1, TC-14 and a bonus of the holo Nute Gunray. That would be something worthwhile producing not this set we get here. The accessory included in it is not worth buying four old figures for. In itself it isn't really a very inspiring piece anyway. That particular scene held no thrills or really served any purpose. The accessory does not even look strong enough to hold a figure imprisoned and with the softer plastic hasbroken uses these days it will no doubt bend and warp in heated rooms. Worthless.

Before anyone starts chanting the mantra of the unimaginative "if you don't like it don't buy it" I say don't fret yourself, I won't. Never have bought things I didn't want to. I'm just offering comment as I'm entitled to.
In some respects I actually wish the license had not been extended so hasbroken could not continue down this particular road.

UK is barren because all the US stock is still being re-routed from there. have yet to pick up anything since last december without the UK info on it.

Imagine living in Southamerica........even Kebco overseas charges are rather high it's the best way I can have my figures !

BTW this set is a no-go....all rehashed figures

Well, if they re-did each of these figures ... made the alien Jedi nice and articulated like Coleman Trebor, then that would be a good reason to buy this set. BUT, they'd have to make a decent Obi-Wan figure for once. No magnet, no headband, no Spear-Stabbing Action, no Cold Weather Gear, no Jedi Training Gear, no little "real" hair hippie braid or face like a serial killer. Just a nice simple good looking figure that doesn't have a button on its back or have its legs spread wide enough to straddle a school bus. Is that too much to ask?

Mandalorian Candidat
06-03-2003, 12:18 AM
Nope, won't be getting this one. Looks really flimsy with four rehashed figures. And why throw in the assassin droid? Why not a red battle droid or a Geonosian?

Just out of consideration for the collectors who really want this, why not just make it into a deluxe figure with a different OB1 sculpt? That way you don't have to buy it with three (actually four) useless resculpts.

JEDIpartner
06-03-2003, 10:57 AM
Why? Because in this instance Hasblah has no regard for the collectors. This is a way they can throw something out there that they know people need to complete one of their playsets and then jack up the price by trhowing in repackaged figures.

the sad thing is that I would probably buy this just so i have the detention device...
