Like Unicron, there are some things that I can't keep inside of the Armada thread. Some, if not most of you probably have already seen these, but I felt that these two new figures warranted an entire thread to themselves. Because they are quite simply amazing.

20th Aniversary Optimus Prime (told ya it would be him ;) )

Transformers: Alternators Smokescreen

Have Hasbro and Takara finally listened to what the fans really want? It seems so. Prime seems well articulated, and G1 acurate! Smokescreen... is everything most TF fans have wanted from new toys. Old characters up dated in modern day real life cars. It even has seats and the steering wheel. Optimus will be availabe sometime in 2004. Smokescreen is ALREADY listed on HLJ for a whooping 43 bucks! Strange thing is, he listed to release this Sept?? I believe he is part of the deluxe assorment, so that means 19.99 for us in the US of A. HLJ mentions he is coming in two colors, and a non windowed box, so if you buy the Japanese version, you won't know which one you have till you open the box.

So, anyone else care to comment on these? I'm dieing to know what other's thoughts are, TF fan or not. :)

Oh and here's the HLJ link.

Smokescreen looks cool, but Optimus is awesome! Im far from being the biggest Transfan (liked them but never loved them) but ive been bit by a bug (actually a comic i bought) and now im coming up with ways to get reissues and Beast Wars figures i missed out on. Add this Optimus to my wants.

These look absolutely fantastic (as I said in my TF:Armada post ;)) but I'm not giving Hasbro one lick of credit for either of these until I hear exactly what they contributed. In fact, I can't see how they're going to get that Alternators figure out here in the US, the RID X-brawn figure required a change because Mercedes Benz didn't give them permission to use the car's likeness.

Hasbro changed X-Brawn because they didn't want to pay Mercedes Benz.

And I wasn't trying to steal your thunder from your original post, but like I said, these needed their own thread.

Yeah, these absolutely freaking rock. Both are totally drool-worthy. The Optimus is a masterpiece, and we haven't even seen the trailer yet! I REALLY hope I can get Smokescreen for less than the $42 price($19.99 sounds reasonable), but even if I have to over-pay, I think I'll still break down and get him. I can't wait to see the rest of the Alternators!! Does anyone know what other characters are planned for this series? I'd really like to see Ironhide as a pickup truck, like and F-150 or something. Bumblebee as a new Beetle (duh), and a kick-*** remake of the Dinobots. And maybe Prowl and Red Alert as more realistic emergency vehicles (I've never seen a fire or police department use a Countach). There are so many possibilities for this line!!
:crazed: :D

Is a trailer for 20th OP coming as well? I thought it was just the truck part.

Yeah, I guess I am jumping the gun by assuming there will be a trailer. But if they're going all-out, I would think a trailer and roller would be included.

Also, I've heard on other sites about some info on the Alternators appearing in a Target computer or something. Can anybody tell me what kind of info this was. Were there names, maybe?

I guess we'll know more after the big convention this weekend.

The computer info just says "Alternators Deluxe $19.99"

We don't know the line up, and we just learned about Smokescreen

I will be ****** if Prime doesn't come with his trailer. A "master piece " edition should come with EVERYTHING.

Yeah, I was thinking that too really. These have Takara written all over them ... sort of super deluxe versions of the RID (TF 2000) idea.

I'd think that if Optimus was coming with a trailer they would have had it on display as well, but who knows? I'm gonna be poking around the Takara Web site a little more frequently now that's for sure.

I don't see how anyone can look at that Optimus and not believe in a benevolent power controlling the universe. A masterpiece, bar none.

I saw Smokescreen at Wizard World Chicago this past weekend, and I'm more excited than ever!! This is one BIG toy. I'd say it's about the size of Armada Red Alert. And when you look at it up close, you can see all sorts of detail in the interior, decals, tires... It's just freakin' awesome. Also, I asked the Hasbro people about the line. They said for the time being, all of the toys are going to be that size. They may do bigger or smaller vehicles in the future, but they will do them in scale with the cars. I asked if they planned to do anything besides cars, like planes or something, and they said no, for right now they are just doing cars. I was a little disappointed that they weren't planning other kinds of vehicles, but a line of super-detailed, real world accurate cars that turn into well-articulated robots reminicent of the old characters is pretty cool in itself, if you ask me. :D

I was a little miffed that they didn't have the 20th anniversary Prime on display though. I really wanna see just how big that thing is! I guess I'll just have to drool over the pictures for now! :(

I too am dissapointed about the CAR only thing, but I'm sure we'll get some others eventually.
