This thread is one that ive wanted to do for awhile and i finally decided to go ahead and post it. Basically you just post what toy whether its transformer, LOTR, star wars, turtles, gi joe, etc. you won. You dont have to say how much you won it for if you dont want, you dont have to say who you got it from, and you dont have to say what your id is. I would prefer that you wait until you have the item in your hands before you post that you have _____. Reason being is that i would hate for someone to post they won something but never recieved it from the seller. Well, if you havent been bored to death yet here gos. Yesterday my Fambaa arrived. Its an awesome toy. Excellent size and it makes my Gungan army look larger. I got it at a decent price too. With shipping included i think the total was a bit over $50. The seller was friendly and informed me of when payment had arrived and when he would ship. An excellent transaction overall.

Now its your turn.

Boy did this thread bomb. But yesterday my b-wing arrived. I must say im very impressed with it. My only complaint would have to be that it has another Sullustan pilot. I wish Hasbro would make a Mon Calamari or something new (as long as hes alien, maybe even a female) pilot. I paid $46 (shipping included) for it.

Well, I was waiting for my stuff to actually arrive. I have won several auctions on Ebay lately. Most of my stuff just arrived this week. Here are links to the auctions:

This is my new Square card Canadian R2-D2 with Holofoil sticker, it has the SUB bubble with the slanted top. This is one of my favorit pieces, it is also in great condition C-9+:

I haven't done any eBay purchasing over the last 9 months in an attempt to save money. Man it's been painful. Things that I purchased prior to my dry spell:

Numerous 12" SW figures until I discovered the ease of internet pre-ordering. Mostly the early figures, store exclusives and the more difficult figures to find in the store.

Simpsons World of Springfield: Just a few figures as I've been on board with this line from the beginning.

Robotech/Macross Valkyries: These are my Achilles Heal. I would buy them all but at $50-80 a pop I've had to control my urges. I've bought a few Bandai and Yamato valkyries.

I don't know if this what you were looking for in response but I gave it a shot.

I've been getting loose SW stuff off ebay lately. Last couple of things I scored were a loose POTF2 Imp Probe droid ($3), and a loose vintage C9 Boba Fett ($6 buy it now) He didn't have his gun, but luckily a buddy of mine had an extra gun he gave me.

I'm looking to complete my loose droid & Jedi collection on ebay :)

I'm also hunting for reasonably priced loose Movie Maniac Patrick & Eve figures (from Species).

Good to see other people admit that they use it. I remember when i first started posting here it seemed like many forum members were anti ebay. But when it comes to getting things that arent on the pegs anymore thats your best bet.

Sometimes its worth spending a few extra bucks for shipping to buy something off eBay than drive around for a week looking for an item and burning just as much if not more $$ in gas.

I also use ebay :)

I got the 3 max rebo band pairs from ebay about 4 years ago for the same price as retail, just had to pay extra for shipping, but since I never saw them at WalMart, I certainly didn't mind.

Although it's not on your list, my last few purchases have been Terminator 2 and 3 FilmCardz stuff...the rare cards and foil inserts...stuff like that. There's somemore T3 stuff I'm currently looking at as well, getting ready to bid on soon. Without ebay, it would be rather difficult to find some of this stuff!

Sith Killer, I must say you've got quite the deals there my friend! Congratulations!! :)

I also buy out of print books from ebay and it works like a charm!

Happy bidding all :)

I try not to go on Ebay too much. It's a very addicting site. But over the years I have scored a number of great deals. Among them, here are some items I've aquired....

Random Star Wars and other figures

Count Dooku Lightsaber Replica $130 flat

Mace Windu and Padme MiniBusts

Lord of the Rings 'Glamdring' Sword of Gandalf Replica

I have won a couple 12" figures but that was about two years ago. In case you're wondering,I got the Obi-Wan w/gold buckle and Han in Carbonite for about $20 a piece.

I have bought pleanty on Ebay. Most recently an Imperial Attack Base. Right now I am looking and debating weather to bid on something or not. Ebay is a good place to search. The bad thing is sometimes things are overpriced(i.e. Silver Fetts). When that happens you just need to go back once a week or so to check that item again.

Kool thread, kool-aid killer!

In the past 10 months or so, I've been building a little vintage Star Wars collection, everything won on Ebay (usually with "Buy It Now"):

1. ROTJ Vader, MOC (C-8)
2. ROTJ Logray, MOC (C-7) (Palitoy)
3. Tusken Raider (loose, complete)
4. Jawa w/cloth cape (loose, complete)

I have 2 items I am waiting on to arrive at this time:

1. ROTJ Biker Scout, MOC (C-8, unpunched)
2. POTF AT-ST Driver, MOC (C-7)

None of my MOC figures were over $30, and the loose figures were between $5-10. I am very picky about the MOC bubbles not being yellow, even a tinge; and the card must be in decent shape, so that it displays well. The loose figures must have tight joints and little or no wear, and have all accessories. I'm sticking to the ROTJ and POTF lines right now, and loose figures, since they are within my toy budget.

I really enjoy surfing around the Vintage SW auctions on Ebay. Glad to hear I'm not the only SSG'er who uses Ebay from time to time.

I have a few simple rules for bidding on SW stuff, these are just my personal rules, as I am a cheap *******!

1. I never buy new stuff off of Ebay.

2. I never bid more than I am actually willing to hapily part with, not even for "that one figure". This means taking into account shipping, insurance, etc.

3. I try to buy multiple figures from one seller if at all possible, this helps to reduce shipping costs.

4. Patients is the key. Right now seems to be a good time for buying older htf stuff.

I have a love/hate relationship with Ebay. I love that I can find many htf items, and I love getting good deals. I hate scalpers who sell the "latest htf wave" at inflated prices (they give collectors a bad name IMO), and I hate opportunists who sell full cases of Silver R2-D2's or Silver Fett's meanwhile real collectors can't get a hold of 'em.

Ebay is like anything else, it has it's uses, and it can be abused.

Kidhuman

Well said SK99. I also follow a few rules on there myself.

1. Look for "lots". You can usually get a cheaper per figure price that way and save on shipping.

2. Feedback is always a must to me. I take pride in my 100% positive feedback even if I am only at 27 feedbacks. I will read all the persons feedback and find out why they had a negative before i buy from them.

3. Patience is definitely the key. If you cant afford it now, go back in a week or two. You will find it then and hopefully cheaper.

Ebay has been very good to me. Just look at the whole auction before you do anything. I will wait until the last 5 minutes before bidding on something. It saves the whole bidding war and the heartbreak of I cant afford it because once someone bids on it, it will go up in price. Try and hold out as long as possible, and then enter your max amount. I have won a few auctions that way and it feels like a steal when you get it for the opening bid price.

When I was dating, my girlfriend told me I was prohibited from bidding on items on eBay. She knew that there were many Star Wars items on there, and that I would go crazy if I was to start an account there. Well, I never went to eBay until just a little over a year ago. She was right, I have since one over 40 items. Some of my recent purchases are:

A silk Vader tie w/tin

An Imperial and Rebel large banner

The Han, Chewie, Obi-Wan Epic Force set

The 12" Han and Luke in Stormtrooper FAO exclusive

A ceramic mug with an Imperial logo

bounty hunter Kubrick set

4 Star Wars cups with Vader, R2, 3PO, and Stormtrooper toppers

Tomy sets of 10 different toys/sculpture

Applause figures that I missed when they first came out

The Star Wars Chronicles book, which arrived damaged, and the seller promised to refund my money, but so far hasn't

Well, that is all I can remember of hand. I'm still waiting for the Vader tie. I've been trying to be real good and not even visit there. Plus, I buy 95% of my stuff with auctions that accept PayPal, but have hit my spending limit with them.

I've been around the ebay block several times, nearly 250 sanctioned deals done with a feedback rating of 143 currently. Most of my deals have been purhcases for myself, though I've made numerous sales as well. I've bought mainly comics and toys, and have sold comics, toys, and magazines.

My most recent purchase has me excited, though it's not here yet... a loose POTF2 Hoth Han with Tauntaun for only $26!!! A year ago it would have cost me nearly 3 times that much. I guess time is a great ally in acquiring certain things for your collection.

Ebay has allowed me to make some friends that I've kept and used time and time again in non-ebay trades and dealing, friends that have helped me to no end keep current with my collection even though Canada has been left behind by Hasbro.

Like anything else, ebay can be horribly evil - you really do need to pay attention to the reputations of the people you're dealing with, and you really need to be a patient person in order to be happy. It can take quite awhile to get payments and product, especially when making international deals. Good luck with your auctions!

Im going to try to win some stuff this weekend. My list of Star Wars wants is at 16 items right now. Im dying to get that number lower. I tried a couple of weeks ago to win some things (lost both) but am now actively searching around again. So does anybody think the slowing of the economy has helped bring some prices down? Im thinking some people dont have that much spare money to be ebaying as much as they would like to so that is why some prices have fallen on things. Bidders being more selective on what they want. Hopefully next time i post on this thread it will be to announce the winning of an auction.

In the last week, I fell prey to the temptations of eBay. I had been a good boy, and kept my mouse away from clicking on their site, but eventually caved in. I bought a McFarlane Sammy Sosa figure with the pinstripe variation, as well as a Stormtrooper license plate, which by the way, is not legal to replace as a front license plate here in Illinois. I thought it was cool non the less, and so I bought it. I'm currently looking for a Mark Prior Mcfarlane figure w/ reasonable shipping.

The only toys I have bought was a huge lot of 80's Gi Joe figures and vehicles. It was an excellent deal! I really dont buy many things anymore off ebay because after the first deal i had several items that were not in the condition that they were supposed to be in. This happened the last three times i bid and won. Also the location of our house is very hard to find. The UPS and FEDX guys have dumped our packages at different houses over a 3 mile span. We have had more lost packages then anyone I know.

As I posted elsewhere, I caved and got Ephant Mon as a buy-it-now item for $23.00 including shipping, which seemd about the average price w/out shipping I was seeing there, and w/online retailers. This was the first SW item I've actually bought through ebay, though probably not the last.

I've bought a lot of stuff on there; mostly books and DVDs and a few CDs at really cheap prices.

I also collect monster toys and have made some really good buys on ebay including the 12" "Return of the Fly" action figure, some Godzilla stuff, and the Ray Harryhausen 12" Kali which retails for $50.00 and I got MIB for about $20.00, s&h included.

I buy a lot of stuff for my kids. My son is 3 1/2 and a lot of the toys he's interested in (essentially many of mine, which he can't play with) came and went before he was even born, so I've found him a lot of Japanese monsters, and various robots, Power Ranger lots, etc. for very little money.

I don't actually have TV (I have a tv that I use to watch DVDs and videos on, but no satellite, cable, or antennae connection) because my wife is usually asleep by 9:30, I work at home at night (which is what I should be doing now) and as much as I like Arthur, $50+ a month for cable so my kids can watch some tv seemed silly. Anyway, the point of this is, because my kids only watch videos, they aren't exposed to commercials, and have very different toys than what their friends have. All thanks to ebay.

I scored some test shot/prototype SW figures on a "second chance" option. Ebay has a service for this, I had no idea! It works like an actual auction, you're protected under the same rules and such.

Apparently the original buyers didn't pay, or the seller had extras (I'm guessing the later since it was offered so quick). So I ended up getting them for my highest bid which was much lower than the winning prices.

I got the Anniversary Vader & Obi (in light grey, dark grey, and black plastic), and the POC Boba Fett (in white, green, blue, grey, & brown plastic). The sellers in Hong Kong, but has excellent FB in regards to shipping, so I'm not worried about any huge delays or anything. Can't wait 'till they get here! :) :D :D

Saved two dollars, but the shipping cost may have sent some other potential bidders off. I wanted to bid on two loose Beast Wars figures earlier this week but no clear shipping price was stated so i left it alone. I noticed the seller had a guestimate thing on his auction (where you put in your zip) and the total would have been about $23!!! Thats a little too much for two basic sized Beast Wars figures so i left them.

Hell, since you didn't ask:

Vader $61.57
Obi-Wan $22.72
Fett $75.57

It is a bit much.... Kinda funny considering I was only going for the Vader at first. I lost that auction then started trying to snipe the last few good ones the seller had open (hence all the "second chance" offers). He also had a really great Phantom Menace R2 proto that I was bidding on. All white plastic with just the blue eyepeice. I usually wouldn't spend so much on this stuff, lately I've been trying to justify it with my tax return .

That Magneto is cool LTBasker. I scored one at KB during the holidays. Toybiz did make his hands a bit big though.

Since I haven't been finding much of the current waves on the shelves, I've been filling in some holes on the older stuff I couldn't find on the shelves either.

I just picked up the Target A-Wing for $20 including shipping, which is what this cost at Target, so I figured that was fair.

I finally snagged R2 w/holographic Leia for about $12 w/shipping, and got a loose Dewback Sandtrooper for $3 (inc. shipping) because I somehow ended up w/ a 2nd Dewback that was packed with the carded Sandtrooper--and no this was not a sneaky purchase, swap and return, I checked the box carefully. I will probably end up giving this set to my kids.

I also got the Geonosian War Room #1 for about $15 including s&h and in non-SW stuff the really cool looking She-Creature and Day the World Ended figures by X-Plus for more than $30 less than retail, s &h included.

I just got in my POTF Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike that i won yesterday. Another thing from the "wants" list is knocked off. But this deal was arguably the worst ive ever been in. The seller wouldnt email me to confirm that payment had arrived (i like to be updated on whats happening) and did the worst job packing ive ever had. She threw it in a box that was a little too big for what i won. Worst of all she didnt throw in any packing material. No bubble wrap, peanuts, not even stinking paper. Im not anal about my items box condition, but thats a really cheap way of sending things out. Im tempted on leaving neutral feedback but dont want the seller to retaliate with a negative and put dirt on my reputation. Thankfully it only cost me about $8.50 in all and i now have a decent size box to use whenever i trade with somebody.

Yeah, I hear you. For the most part, everything I've received from ebay was in great shape with great care given to the packing, but I got some Godzilla toys for my son, and they came in a box that was held shut with three pieces of scotch tape, the mailing label was barely taped on, and the box wasn't even closed all the way. There was a big open gap! no packing materials either. To top it off, the hand on one of the figures was missing all of its fingers. The seller had staged the picture so that one of the other figures was standing infront of the broken hand. I gave this guy terrible feedback and he was all bent out of shape that I didn't contact him first. What was he going to fix? He's the idiot who didn't know how to seal a box.

My only other disasters were the $35 book that was never shipped, and the guy I bought a bunch of old monster magazines from who photographed them so that you couldn't see where the covers were torn and made no mention that the back cover were all missing or that the inside pages were all cut to pieces and written all over.

If there's a part in the description that says no returns, as is. Ask any questions about condition before bidding, watch yourself. Ask very specific questions, they will not divulge any information that you don't ask for. Better yet, wait for the item to be offered by someone who seems less slimy.

The seller must was upset? What an idiot. If you know youre selling something thats damaged and dont mention it or hide the damage you deserve to be given negative feedback. And reading about how the package came to you further goes to show that the guys an idiot. If the item says "sold as is" i am very wary of bidding on it. Chances are i will skip it over.

I just completed a transaction for 6 hard to find X-Files CCG promo cards. I got them cheap, but the seller listed in the description "they are in excelent (sic) shape." However, when I got the cards, all the edges were worn like they had been used. I left neutral feedback (since I got the cards for less than $2 a piece including shipping) stating that the cards were worn. He responded by replying "don't know what he's talking about. Do not sell to him."

Fortunately the seller had already given me positive feedback.

The weasles that pass on shoddy merchandise under vague descriptions sure do get defensive when they are given negative feedback. It would be nice if they ever apologized.

On the other end of the spectrum, I bought a CD from one seller, who emailed me themselves to see if I'd received it. I hadn't, but wasn't worried, media mail takes 3 weeks sometimes, and informed them of that. The seller e-mailed back apologizing that he suspected he forgot to ship it out and then sent to me express mail, the CD I ordered + 2 more that I was interested in but passed on because I was budgeting myself--free of charge as an apology for a problem I didn't feel existed in the first place. I had to make up words to extend the best possible feedback I could for this guy.

I've won a lot of stuff off ebay, its a great tool for getting items at low prices, granted you dont have anyone else who's willing to throw their money down the toilet and spend more than somethings worth bidding against you. Some stuff I've won in the recent months:

- POTF2 Tatooine Skiff (mint condition) - $40
- POTF2 Y-Wing (mint condition) - $45 (I believe/something like that)
- Saga Republic Gunship - $24
- Episode 1 Naboo Royal Guard (mint condition) - $15 (I believe/something like that)
- Saga Ephant Mon (mint condition) - $17
- POTJ Snowspeeder (mint condition) - $32
- POTJ AT-ST w/ Paploo - $28

So far I've had nothing but great success with shipping and the works from sellers I've bought from. The only negative thing about ebay is it seems that some people on ebay dont realize or think to compare prices on certain figures and other items, and you end up with people who seem ready to spend every penny they have for something as simple as a figure thats worth $20 that somehow ends up selling for about $30. Oh well, their loss I suppose. Ebay is still a great way to get hard to find stuff at cheap prices.

Welcome to the forums Jay86, you have scored a few things at good prices. I would jump at a Y-wing for around $45. What i hate the most is when i lose in the waning seconds, especially when its something i really wanted. But i suppose in time i will pick up all my wants at some point.

Thanks for the welcome. Even with the good deals I have managed to snag I've ran into a good number of losses as well, all within the final seconds too. I bid on Ephant Mon a few times before I managed to get him for what I did, the same for a number of the other items on the list of stuff I've got. It's all about time I suppose.

One of the better things to do on ebay is tobid in the final minute. Put in a bid for the most you would pay for the item. The worst that happens is you pay the most, but most of the time, people will only bid in smallincriments, and in that case, you automatically out bid them. Its better than stating a bidding war so early into the auction.

This method helped me win alot of merch.

Yeah, it's totally against your benefit if you bid early on an item. Sniping auctions is the only way to go.

I usually wait until about the last 20 or 30 seconds before the auction ends. Put in my max amount, and let it fly! If I lose, then it went for too much anyways = so no big loss! :D

I find that method works best if its an item that I really want. But I use a combination of methods. Like I just won a vintage tri-pod cannon, I put a bid in on it a few days ago. Well I was the only bidder and won. But on the other hand I also won a part to the vintage Skiff (those are always hot) and snipped it. I had to bid earlier than I wanted because I wasn't going to be home went it ended. But I held on and won, barely.
On the other hand snipping can really tick me off. I had a guy take a sonic landspeeder right out of my hand. I was $30 or $40 a head of the next bidder. I was winning up to 2 seconds to closing. I know winning is winning, but sometimes loosing is hard to take sitting down.
If you can't tell I buy mostly vintage SW stuff. Legos (castle and pirate) every now and then. When I start found eBay if was G.I. Joe (the '80 version).

I recently did a Buy Now for a Tanus Spijek and Holo Luke for $16 + $3 shipping. I have yet to see one in a store and the single figure auctions were ending much higher than what I paid for the two. Agreed :D

Its hard to not kick yourself when you lose an auction but sometimes when you look at the price of some items at the end of an auction you might have recently lost you realize you actually won in the long run since someone else threw their money away on something thats not worth the price they paid.

Thanks for the welcome as well :)

Since everyone who posts in this thread has had experience bidding on eBay auctions, I'm curious to know if anyone uses or has used PayPal? I've used it for 97% of the items I have bid on eBay. My question is, I am near my spending limit, and PayPal wants me to add my checking account to become verified. It looks safe enough, but would I then have to use my money from my checking account, or would I be able to continue to use my Credit cards through PayPal. I like using it, because in most cases I have my item I bid on within a week of the auction ending.

So has anyone become verified through PayPal, and if so, how was your experience doing so?

I haven't bid on anything in so long now, I think the last thing I got from eBay was a cell phone cover for my son.

I pay by money order. Its way easier in my opinion and no interest charge. Lately ive been scoping out a pricey item, but have noticed the same username popping up on a lot of them, so im thinking somebody might be trying to monopolize them to an extent. The price seems to have dropped on the item lately, so now might be the time to go for it.

I've had that happen to me on a few items. This is where patience pays off. Two items I was trying to get were new and I was using ebay to try and get them for far below retail. The first time I lost, which is just as well since they sold for far above retail. There were two other bidders aside from myself who also lost.

The next time the item came up, it was those same 2 bidders and me. I lost again.

The next time I saw the item again, it was just me and the remaining other bidder and I let them have it.

When the item came up again, I had no competition and ended up saving over $30 retail. The item was also offered in all four cases by the same etailer, who was wisely not listing new ones until the previous ones were sold.

I've been in this smae situation before, and patience paid off there as well.

I have both the SE and Orginal on dvd (got them 30 bucks for each set), they are made from the laserdisks so the quality is just like a dvd you would by at the store. I also have dvd inserts that sport the se posters for the se versions and the orginal posters for the orginal version. The back also has little snipits of the movie and small pictures of the film, again, just like a store bought dvd. With my orginal set I also got a 4th disk that has "making of" sequences such as the hoth battle scene with the at-at's and a bunch of other goodies..about 2 or so hours worth of stuff.

But the things that bother me are his chrome on his feet and tail. The item description says the figure is in "excellent" shape. The chrome wear the figure has contradicts that. I left positive feedback for the seller (only because if i left negative, he would have done the same to me, regardless of me having paid him minutes after the auction ended) because i probably should have asked him about the chromes condition prior to bidding. Anybody know of a way to restore it or make it shine a bit more?
