So, what's everyone think of the news on the main page. It looks pretty cool as a figure to place with the Holiday Droids 2-Pack. Speaking of them, it would be nice to see them offer some of those through the Fan Club as well. Since they never turned up in some areas. I know that I never seen them around here. BTW, if you haven't seen the news yet, check it out at the following link. And hit the official site for a larger picture. :)

I dislike Ralph's concept figure, although I do like these concept x-mas sets.
Why? Because it combines a great holiday with SW.
I know we were all hoping for a Yoda when the R2 set came out, and most were speculating this would happen this year.
I'm also glad to hear that the fan club will start up offering exclusives. Thanks for the infor jjb

That's an awesome figure! I likes!!!
Unfortunately, from the sounds of the article, it's probably gonna pretty tough to get (unless you sign on to the crappy "fan club"). :(

Any body figure out what the lightspeed pass is yet?
Is that just another way to empty our pockets more, to guarantee a better 'position' to buy an exclussive?

Nah, just looks like members can reserve them now. If they want to. I don't see any hidden charges or anything. And $12.95 sounds about right for a Fan Club Exclusive. :)
Star Wars Holiday Edition Yoda Figure - Price: $12.95 (This item is not currently available)
Hasbro, Lucasfilm Ltd., and the Official Star Wars Fan Club are delighted to present the second in a series of Star Wars Holiday Edition commemorative figures. Inspired by the artwork of renowned concept artist Ralph McQuarrie, this specially designed figure captures the vision of McQuarrie’s art in collectible 3-3/4" action figure scale. Dressed as Santa, Yoda comes with a display base and a full-sized holiday greeting card featuring McQuarrie’s artwork.
Members of the Official Star Wars Fan Club can sign up for a Lightspeed Pass that shoots them to the front of the line when this limited-edition figure goes on sale. Remember, last year’s edition sold out quickly at retail. In September, we'll offer the figure to members of the Official Fan Club with a Lightspeed Pass first, then to other Fan Club members and members of Hyperspace at starwars.com. In October, if any figures are still available, we'll extend the offer to non-members.
The Star Wars Holiday Edition Yoda offer is limited to three per person, so get your Lightspeed Pass today.

I filled out the form in the Buying Options box at http://starwars.paizo.com/
I hope that's the lightspeed pass. Although at $12.95, I'll be buying just one. I didn't have to enter my fan club membership # though, but who knows maybe name and birthdate is enough for them to recognize me as a fanclub member.
I hope Yoda will come in the cool bubble like last years model.

A friend of mine customized the POTF2 Yoda into a Santa Yoda for me a while back, he made 'em for all his friends that year (even painted Yoda's cane to be a candy cane), so I already have one, from a certain point of view. ;) However, this is a cute little exclusive piece that I think steps outside the action figure concept a little but stays within the hobby, so I hope everybody who wants one gets one. Even if I were still a completist, I wouldn't feel like this keeps me from having a complete collection if I don't get it.
The one bad thing about the exclusivity of this is that some collectors I know would want to give these holiday figure sets out like x-mas cards, but the availibility problems prevent that.

Not too shabby, alot better than the R2 and 3PO set! Although the price is rubbish. It should be around $9. Oh well.. Doesn't look like anything will be removeable, but at least the detail looks good!

It looks like from the pics Steve posted that it'll be in similar packagin to last year. That's good, I really was impressed with the product.

Looks like a pile of elephant dung to me same as the crud from last year. Tacky sentimental nonsense. All the decent figures coming late this year and suddenly everyone goes nuts for a piece of novelty junk. typical.

Hmm, maybe we should commission a "Jargo as the Grinch" figure for next year. ;) I'd say "you don't have to buy 'em" to you Jargo, but knowing that you're in the UK, I expect you won't be able to anyway. :D

No buy them if you wish I'm just marvelling at the usual reactions to a piece of tacky uselessness rather than the revelling in the beautiful toys that have been hitherto shown at the convention. Xmas novelties bring out the sourness in me. I simply detest the fakery of the 'holiday season' nonsensical excuse for retailers to fleece you of everything you own in payment for stupid trinkets. The entire notion of Santa makes my blood boil with contempt for the church and the Victorians and for the Coca Cola company. It makes me seethe with irritation at the sacharinisation of society with overt sentimentalisms like this crossover crud. Christmas be damned and Santa yoda be damned. i'm not in the slightest bit sorry this isn't available in the UK (although I suspect that it will be eventually) and hope they're all deformed and badly painted and no-one wants them. Hope all the packaging is mangled in transit from the factory. hope the boats ferying them from China sink. Hope there's a plastic pellet shortage that prevents them being made. Christams is nothing but a greed fest and a disgusting parody of what it once signified. Christams is about giving to the needy not the greedy. Santa yoda represents greed not need and for that reason alone it is despicable and hideous. Tacky and offensive. Just like any other christmas oriented item. Don't spend cash on this worthless junk spend it on some poor kid who has no toys and lives in crappy conditions. Donate the money you would have spent on santa yoda to an orphanage. Give it to a soup kitchen for homeless people. Give it to a womens refuge, an African HIV aide charity. spend the money on the poor Iraqui kids who weren't part of any conflict but have had their lives wrecked by the conflict. give it to anybody deserving but just don't buy this trashy piece.

I feel so so about the figure. I liked the holiday 2 pack from last year, but this is okay. They should of just made his Dagobah hut decorated with him in it wearing his santa outfit and Luke drinking some egg nog and R2 putting the star on the tree. That would be sweet.

I'm just marvelling at the usual reactions to a piece of tacky uselessness Many have said the same about most of my Star Wars collection. One man's ceiling is another's floor, I guess.
I'm sorry you are honked at the crass commercialism of Xmas products. I'll admit, there are some items that have bothered me in this way (M&M Nascar Xmas banks, WWE Easter cards, SW Valent... heh, never mind ;)), but I don't see this set as being over the top. In our society, the holiday spirit transcends social boundries such as race, wealth, even religion to a degree, and some people enjoy celebrating that feeling of good will towards men in ways that tie into other interests of theirs. The LFL holiday cards with 3PO & R2 and Yoda have always seemed like nothing more than McQuarrie and the other artists bringing some of that spirit into the Star Wars frontier, and certainly in a less ridiculous way than the SW Holiday Special. These figures simply seem like an extension of that, they tie that feeling into our hobby of SW collecting. Certainly these figures aren't going to make anybody at LFL or Hasbro or even Paizo rich, so the motivation behind this doesn't seem tarnished in any way that I can see.
Ultimately, I think Xmas is about what suits each of us best, and while clearly Santa Yoda doesn't suit you Jargo, I can understand why it suits others. I think you have the wrong impression about this, we should be generous every day, but it's ok to enjoy our toys too.

Let's not pick on Jargo, he has a right to his opinions. Heck, I know all about Christmas customs becoming trite, my dad kept the plastic Xmas tree up for 8 years straight in his living room in the late '80s and early '90s!

No offense meant or was intended on my part, just adding some humor to the forum.
If everyone had the same opinion as me, or if I agreed with everything, these forum's wouldn't be worth reading. Variety is the spice of life.

I guess i'm going to get disagreeing posts levelled at me. After all what's a discussion without two points of view? If we all agreed it would be a wasted trip here wouldn't it? For what it's worth I think the sculpt is nice and faithful to the xmas card pic. I guess i also don't like the idea of cheapening star wars in the same vein that Disney cheapen their characters. But as GL is fast becoming the lord of schmaltz and taking the crown from Spielberg I suppose it was to be expected that his company would approve this.

You know it's great that Christmas gets Star Wars figures,
bBt just for once they could honor a Pagan holiday and produce a Vilmah Grarhk figure for the occasion. That's one appropriate way to see Villie released!

I just hope I can find another way to get one. I ended my subscription months ago because I think what Paizo publishes is useless rubbish. I REALLY don’t want to subscribe just to get the figure. Same goes for the Silver Fett. Does anyone else think the Star Wars Insider magazine is a waste of paper? Ugh…I am so annoyed by this….

I just signed up again for the first time in a few years, I just received my first issue this past month.
I'm happy with the current direction. I guess it'll all depend upon if I get a Silver Fett from them... Although witht the Fett, and now the Yoda, it does start to pay to have a subscription.
The issues while not always as uo-to-date as fan sites, they usually do have a few articles that make for good reading, and pictures too. I know wonder why I was without one the past few years.

I'm not excited about this figure, just as I wasn't about last year's. Personal taste, I guess. I likes me some Christmas though.
I'd prefer to have Kitik Keed'kak or some other figure as a club exclusive, since they are so few & far between.
Me want NEW characters.

I think I'll buy a few of these. I know some suckers that would pay me double for them. Now thats the x-mas spirit! You know X-mas is not all about greed in my family, It's a time for us to get together. I don't see many relatives through the years and it's nice to get them a little something.

Heck I will too. I know last year I saw a ton of the 2 packs but didnt know they were rare. If I see the yoda this year I will pick up a couple of extra for the people here that couldnt find them and trade some stuff.

I think it looks very weak.
Probably done by the fiend that did the sketchtrooper abomination.
It would go nicely with the droid holiday set that noone was able to get .
With any luck I wont be able to get this either

As much as I was initially turned off by Jargo's ranting and raving, have to admit that he has a valid point concerning the comercialization of Christmas, greed, and plight of the less fortunate.
I say, buy your toys, but don't forget the people in need. Do some research and find some worthy organizations where you can donate money, toys, food, and clothing to the needy. Better yet, donate your time. Get your kids involved too. They will learn to be thankful for what they have instead of whining about the expensive toys and clothes that they want.

I like it. I'm getting 2. I signed up for the lightspeed thing so we'll see what that's about.
I am very pleased that this is through the fan club. Now before you loose your minds - as they will probably mess it up - at least there's a shot of seeing it. I searched for 3PO & R2 and never saw them at retail. I'd love to get my hands on one of those - but I never had a chance.

I saw the 3PO and R2 set in the store once, in early December, and that was it.
I'll give the fan club credit for trying something positive.
