View Full Version : An Expanded Universe Super Battle Droid figure Hasbro should make.

On the Official site it says,
A super battle droid's strap-on foot tips can be replaced with climbing claws or buoyant pods to better handle exotic terrains.
Interchangeable feet.
And it wouldn't hurt for them to get the blaster arm right on this one. (one where the blasters actually raise up and down, and right & left turn articulation at the elbow.)

Hasbro has to be very selective on what Expanded Universe figures they make into figures. Cause if it doesn't look like a Star Wars character (like Durge from Clone Wars) it runs a huge risk of bombing. Which means ruining the retail market even more.

But in the movies the Battle Droid did swing his arm back and forth to shoot. So it wouldnt be an EU if they did that. The changing feet thing would be pretty cool. Maybe they will do that for EPIII. Plus we could all use some more Battle Droids anyways.

Yeah I know, I didn't mean that was an Expanded Universe thing. :)

They could also make the Trade Federation D-60 assault droid, that's a man-and-a-half size version of the Super Battle Droid.

Interchangeable droid pieces are cool. The super battle droids are therefore modular in nature so any number of possibilities could arise and any number of add in pieces could be made provided they weren't of the big missile firing arm variety. If it was done in a way sympathetic to the themes of the movies and the plots of the movies I could see it working. And definately get the firing arm round the right way. Don't care about the movement but having the guns face the right direction in the same way as the movie is important. If we're going to go EU with battle droids why not also put out the caterpillar tread tank droid and a new dwarf spider droid with feet and no stupid firing nose or dumb inaction feature. Get the face right. give it a swivel head if it has to have a silly feature then make the slim and small nose cannon have a recoil feature like the guns on the AT-AT, just a little lever on one side the makes the nose move in and out like it's firing. Perhaps have the legs articulated to bend a little at the knee. Just enough to make it appear to be walking. It's only a background character true but the thing hasbro made as a deluxe figure is not worth pooping on so make it again and make it accurate please.
Super battle droids with interchangeable legs and tank like treads sections for different terrain. Some kind of swap out back piece with jet thrusters for basic flight like the battle droids were going to have. Interchangeable arms with hammer fists and laser cutters, mining corkscrew drill heads for hands so they can fight their way into any environment and through walls and solid rock. Bad mofo droids. I'm diggin' the super battle droid ideas.

Sounds good to me, and I love the caterpillar tread tank droid you mentioned, they should've left that one in the movie, on the DVD they show it running over Clonetroopers.

That would make a pretty sweet deluxe set. Or they could revamp the SBD builder to put all these pieces in there.
