I'm liking today's latest look into the birth of Rogue Squadron.

We've seen Wedge's background before (in the actual RS comics), but I was disappointed that we never got to see him meet the Imperial mutineers (Biggs and Co.) for the very first time. He was just kind of there, when Hobbie was in the hospital.

I never knew Hobbie had an artificial hand and leg! What the heck? Is Hobbie becoming Darth Vader? I think that they should've had someone else get wounded.

Hobbie is always the class clown in later RS comics.

Why is he the hardcore Imperial regimentalist in these comics? It seems out of character - as did Biggs, with his obvious, initial dislike of Klivian, giving him command nevertheless.

And in the Empire, why were they all so scared of Hobbie, if Biggs outranked him?

I'll have to go back and re-read that stuff.

The interruption of the story to tell the tale of that actor that was Jan Dodonna's predecessor was good, but they should have told it before or after Bigg's story, even if that meant going back and forth in time, versus keeping everything chonological to tell the tales simultaneously as they happen.

Nevertheless, Empire is improving a great deal, now that it's about the Rebels.

I was disappointed that Dark Horse didn't take advantage of the opportunity to tell tales of Thrawn, Veers, Ozzel, Needa, Piett, and others' early careers including EU giants like Kir Kanos, Soontir Fel, Admiral Palleon, Ysanne Isaard, Master Kennedy, and more. I was looking forward to that, or early Imperial tales with Palpatine dealing with whoever's left of the corporates after the formation of the Empire, like Nute Gunray and the TF, the Banking Clan, the Commerce Guild, Corellian Engineering, Kuat Drive Yards, Raith Sienar and SFS, Balmorra Engineering, Muunlist Depot, and so forth.

Instead we got that concocted scheme of some of the Moffs trying to off the Sith. I mean when did they even learn that they WERE Sith?

Also, why don't we see how the Moffs came to be, as Palpatine meets with the wealthy industrial leaders like Tagge, Motti, etc. and makes the corporate CEO's sons military commanders in the Empire, promoted through the ranks because they came from powerful capitalist families. That there is also part of the birth of the Empire. It wasn't just Palpatine, it was how Palpatine manipulated everyone that was of substance in the New Order.

Anyway, so much for "Empire," but what I'd call "Rebellion," is turning into a fine comic! (finally - while the CW drags on in what's becoming countless and very pointless battles with little story progression, and less impact than perhaps "Band of Brothers, - but it's getting some of that there.)

I sort of like the rebellion and empire comics, but you're right they should have focused on other characters and places, other than the Rogues. They had a whole series on them and gave a little background. This is just sort of a more descript re-hash on how the group was formed.

I'm not overly hot on the new story arc here, especially since Hobbie has that Yavin fever and keeps loosing limbs, plus the characters are a little flat at this time. Something just doesn't feel right with these characters in this story line.

Oh well I'm waiting for the next infinities to start. Those were always a little interesting.
