The former Beatle George Harrison passed away yesterday. He's going to be missed.

Author John Knowles (A Separate Peace) also passed away.

Very sad. The Beatles influenced so much, as far as popular music goes, it's unreal. Now there are only two left.:(

Okay, time needs to start slowing down because it does NOT seem like 9 months since George's passing.
I remember Entertainmet Weekly did a nice tribute, going through his catalog and suggesting a "best of" compilation. I may still have that issue, maybe we can debate it . . .

I really dislike the way he was labeled as "the quiet Beatle."

I play guitar.

We should name our band Blue Stars or THX-1138 or Yak Face or something obscure dealing with Star Wars.

Wow.

That's amazing how you guys came in and trashed this thread with your piddling talk about your amateurish guitar bands.

If you want to discuss The Dark Horse, great.

Otherwise, start your own thread about your stupid guitar.

For the Record (and I don't even know if this made the EW list) my fave GH song is "Cheer Down". I remember hearing it on the closing credits of a moive movie (Lethal Weapon?) and thought it was one of the coolest songs ever.

ROLLO!

Got my mind set on you

TaxMan
Something

The original version of My Sweet Lord is one of the most beautiful modern songs I've heard (IMHO).

Others:

Imagine
Granchester Meadows

[please add any other nominees here or in another thread if you think it would be better]

I had a history teacher that thought he was the 5th member of the Beatles. He still wears the hairstyle that they had back in the early days. When Harrison died he took several days off from school.

Off the top of my head, these are some who could be the "5th" Beatles........

George Martin (producer)
Pete Best (was a Beatle {Drums})
Stu Sutcliff (was a Beatle{Bass-kind of})
Billy Preston (Roof top,Let it be sessions)
???? Nicholes (Drummer who filled in {for Ringo} on Aussie tour)
ummmm......
