View Full Version : Could this be the reason why Amidala changes ships for E2?

The Royal Starship from Episode I is the Marie Celeste, right? Or is it something else? Well I just recently learned that a U.S. in the late 1800's was named the Mary Celeste and it was sunk. Maybe something happens to Amidala's Marie Celeste in the beginning of Episode II as the first assassination attempt or something and the other ship we see is more of a backup ship or something? Or am I just totally wrong? hehe. :D

i just assumed her episode 1 ship was for the queen's use. our president dosen't take air force one with him when he leaves office.

LTB,

I think that the ship that gets annihilated at the open of AOTC is the one we see escorted by the Naboo fighters headed toward Coruscant in one of the teaser trailers. Good theory though!! Perhaps something does happen to her ship during her term as Queen. Maybe our resident EU fans can elaborate on the possibility.

Correction, he does. Any plane (or also chopper I assume) that the President is on immediately becomes Air Force One.

I think what derek was trying to say was that giant jet doesn't become the former president's personal plane when he is out of office. It's passed on to the next president.

I read somewhere every queen of Naboo have there own Royal Ship designed for them. I guess when Amidala settled down from being the Queen she had her ship taken away from her, parts removed to which they designed the new ship for the new Queen.

The one in AOTC could be the Padmes new ride, although she wasn't inside it when it blew, the ship was destrowed!

Now if I remember right... In TPM they took the nearest transport that they could get... The Royal Space Cruiser from the TPM might not have been the queen’s real ship; it was just the closes one. Beside ten years is a long time and maybe her original ship was upgraded to the new one we see in the Trailers, to bad it gets toasted in the beginning of the film…

Perhaps her new ship was retrofitted so as to hold more outfits for Episode II. Ka-ching!

Nope, it had to have been the Queens Royal Starship in E1, because her travel wardrobe was stored aboard. Remember when Qui-Gon called Obi-Wan and asked him if there was anything of value to trade aboard the ship. He responded with "A few containers of supplies and the Queen's Wardrobe."

If it wasn't her actual ship, then there wouldn't have been any of her outfits on board, and she couldn't have changed clothes every 15 minutes. :) Lucky for us toy collector's she did ehh, now we have E2 figures coming, and we don't even have all her outfits from E1, but multiple Jedi figures, who never change clothes. :P

If you recall, the real Marie Celeste was an abandoned ship that had all the meals still hot on the table and all the lights lit. to all intents and purposes it was a fully working ship but the crew had simply vanished.
The name Marie Celeste in EP1 refers to a scene in which the ship was to have landed in theed courtyard completely empty but fully functional. It was to have been a subterfuge to get the attention of the conquistador Neimoidians and droids so that the Queen and her troops could slip into the city unnoticed. There are pictures of the scene being filmed, or rather the scene where the Neimoidians and Darth maul investigate the appearance of the ship and discuss it. The scene never made it to the film but still exists in storyboard I believe in the illustrated screenplay book.

I got this from T-bones site where he explains it all more lucidly than I can. However, The ship is not called the Marie Celeste but the crew probably refer to it that way because of this scene.

As to the new ship, As Ambassador and senator she would expect to travel in a diplomatic vessel much like Leia had the tantive IV at her disposal in ANH and the Jedi had the Radiant VII in EP1. So this ship is not the Royal starship but an Ambassadorial vessel used at the behest of the Queen of naboo Jamillia. The real royal starship is still on Naboo or elsewhere with the Queen. This new ship is the equivelent of a Presidential aide having a limousine at his disposal on matters of state. You wouldn't send an ambassador out in a shonky second hand motor, would you? So this is just a nice vessel to show off in. And to promote Naboo to the eyes of the watching galaxy so to speak.

Maybe it is Jar Jar's Ship. Isn't he supposed to be a Senator?
