Dustin: This thread popped up in our forums yesterday and several folks in the know have claimed that retailers were notified of a possibility that in the fall of 2004 Hasbro is planning to release 12 vintage figures on "vintage style cards", and 3 dolls in "vintage style boxes". As of this report, it is still pure rumor, but one we are following very closely. If you have any valuable information to add to this please send it in, in the meantime, check out this thread in the vintage forums and contribute your input!
Sounds good. Could it be the original twelve.....could the 12" be Han, Luke, and Darth Vader.
When I was standing in line for my Silver Fett at Chicago this year, a survey was passed out to us with many many different questions. The man passing it out, when questioned, said that Hasbro was looking into doing something with the vintage figures. Just some thoughts.

Guess Not...
This would be something totally different than those figures on Amazon...those are real vintage figures being sold by an etailer. THe rumor states these would be new figures done in a vintage style...most probably rereleases

JediBoulton, those were actual vintage Kenner figures being repackaged and sold by a company called Distributoy, Inc. They have absolutely no connections to Hasbro, and will have no influence on whether or not Hasbro decides to manufacture Vintage reproductions on vintage-style cards and boxes.
Based on the good sales of Mattel's Masters of the Universe re-issues, just prior to the launch of the new MOTU line, I'd say Hasbro is probably just trying to figure out new ways to milk every penny out of the license. Why not? They paid a pretty penny for it.

If this is to happen, I figure they will be something like Mattel did with Masters of the Universe. They will be pretty much the same with a couple of differences and something on the package saying limited edition or something.

Exactly, evenflow. These will be reproductions of the Vintage Kenner figures, not actual ones like Distributoy, Inc., was repackaging and selling. Remember, Kenner did this themselves with the "Classic Edition 4-Pack" in 1995 when they launched the POTF2 line. The rumor seems to indicate that the 12 repro figures are likely to come from all three OT films, not just the original 12 figures from ANH.

That sounds like a great idea. I'd buy them all depending on what characters they choose to reissue.
I'd love to see:
C-3P0 w/ removable limbs & net
Darth Vader
Boba Fett
Han Solo in Carbonite
Ben Kenobi
Stormtrooper
Jedi Luke
Bib Fortuna
Scout Trooper
R2-D2

Swami Sez: What's Old Is New Again

Don't call it a comeback. The Ghost of Kenner Past has visited our Galactic Swami and reveals some terrific news. Although only a few details are available at this time, Swami sez that along with the Original Trilogy DVD release next year, older fans will be able to rekindle some fond memories from their childhood toy chest.
Hasbro is planning on releasing a special collector edition run of Vintage style action figures in conjunction with the highly anticipated release of the Holy Trilogy DVD release in 2004. While based on figures from that era, these new versions will sport additional articulation and will come at a much higher pricepoint. We can expect some sort of retro style packaging as well.
That's all Swami has on these vintage re-issues for now. But if the success of Mattel's classic He-Man reissues are any indication, these neo-vintage figures should be hot.
Remember that nothing is confirmed until it comes from the mouth of Hasbro, but Swami will definitely have more news in the coming months!
Believe in The Power Of The Swami!

Now, we get a few more details from RS:
The Kenner Retro Line
Dave: Following are the details from notes taken in Rhode Island last month by a very reliable source:
"12 newly sculpted, articulated figures will be released in the original Kenner packaging, with the Kenner logo. These will come packaged in a resealable clamshell, similar to the MOTU re-releases. They will release 4 figures from each movie. Retail will likely be around 12.99. [The figures should be] available in summer of 2004. The original Millenium Falcon will also be released in new "vintage" packaging, different from the original but still very cool looking.
"3 new 12in figures with "incredible likeness" to the originals, one from each of the original movies. Vintage packaging. Retail will likely be around $39.99. Luke is a sure thing, but I specifically saw a mock-up of Boba Fett."
So, they aren't going to be exact reproductions of the vintage Kenner figures, but all-new, retro-designed sculpts. :dis: Well, for $12.99, I know I'll be passing on these! (12 x $13 = $156, just for 12 basic figures?! Exsqueeze me! :speech: )

This is good news indeed! I'm more than willing to pay a little bit extra for such a cool novelty item. Dang, 2004 is going to be expensive!

ya know, this is one of those things i can honestly say i just don't care about. there are too many good figs to be made in the modern line without going back to the subpar vintage line. i had (and loved) the vintage line when i was a kid, but compared to the modern line, they suck. and at 12.99, no friggin way.

It's another way for Hasbro to prolong them from making new figures. If they keep up the rate of new figures every month, they wont have anything to make in 2018, LOL Seriously though, the Packaging will be the big selling point with me. If it's nice and vintage looking then I'm game, but if it's on some lame pink card (Not many colors left)I'll pass.:ermm:
