Just thought I'd pass this bit of "history" on...I was shooting all night on a set in North Hollywood and the A-Camera operator put on a raincoat at one point (making rain for the scene) and imagine my surprise/pleasure when I read the words "BLUE HARVEST" on the back of it. Of course I had to ask him about it. He was a PA at the time going to filmschool. We didn't have a lot of time to talk, so the next time I see him, I may grill him for some rememberances. Ahh, the good ol' days. :)

Blue Harvest was the name that was used instead of Revenge Of The Jedi when shooting in Yuma, Arizona. So that scores of people wouldn't be coming up to see filming of the 3rd SW movie.

That's pretty cool Stilla.

That's awesome! What condition is the coat in? Has he worn it for years or is he wearing it in some sort of retro style?

Pretty neat! Compared to ESB, ROTJ was a horror beyond imagination. ;) :crazed:

If you get a chance for more details from him, that'd be keen. The Dune Sea sequence of the film doesn't have a lot of depth in its behind-the-scenes coverage. I was just looking at my SW Chronicles last night through that section, the full-sized sail barge is so neat but looks really hard to shoot on, yet they don't cover anything that in-depth.

Hey, were you by any chance shooting on Venture blvd tonight? Someone was, slowed up traffic a lot as they filmed actors in some beat-up van on a camera truck. The rig had a lot of police bikes escorting it, which is the reason why everybody was rubbernecking (and why the westbound lanes were all clogged up).

No, we were at Lankershim and Victory.

From what he told me, all the US shooting was done under the Blue Harvest name. From the sound of it, he worked on the N. California segments as well.

The jacket was in very good shape. It doesn't rain much here so I'm sure he hasn't had much cause to pull it out for work. Usually, we don't shoot in rain unless the scenes call for it.

Nick Cage, huh? Didn't even notice, must be something wrong with my eyes, I did get a good look the actors too.

Stilla, I was there as well while going from Target NH to WM Panorama City, but that was the day after you mentioned.

If they used the BH name for the NoCal filming, that would make it easier to understand why they had rain slickers with the name on it. I mean, Yuma isn't all that known for its rains. ;)

I actually have a BLUE HARVEST t-shirt. A friend of mine gave it to me around the time that Jedi came out. He didn't work on the film, but had done SFX for Blade Runner at about the same time. All those FX guys know each other (or at least did back then when there were pretty much only two big FX houses) so I asked him if he could get me an ILM shirt. They didn't have any left at the time, but they gave him a Blue Harvest shirt to pass along instead. I had no complaints.
