On Tuesday, January 21st I got a email from posty saying that he could not find Wave by Wave on the site, after 970+ replies I was confident that there was a simple answer to the solution. So I zipped on over to Sirsteves to find a letter from Kidhuman saying that a server issue knocked out DarthVader’s Wave by Wave thread. I decided instead of moaning and whinning about fair or unfair issues I quickly rewrote the thread on my word processor. I figured that all of you wanted to get back to voting. Although I tried to contact darth I was unable to so I assumed that he would want the same thing as me and tackle this problem in an effort to get the post back up and running.

Right after we get back voting I'm going to ask two things from you guys to help us pick up the pieces over all the info lost over the 2000 votes.

1. After the current poll is a list of 2000 figs that were on the poll as they appeared (I have them all as they appeared in the past). Please re-vote what you voted for with a quick type. If you want to comment on why you voted for the bad figs do so even though it's not really necessary as most of us read your reasons in the past, remember this list will determine our current run off so please make sure you vote on these. After plugging your past votes in we'll be back on track.

2. Please help support this thread by continued attendance, and drag others in this post. I ask that because after Darth and I get everything back the way it was we will bum for a moment thinking how close we were to our 1000+ goal of replies to the thread. I myself was quite excited to go for 1500. Now I just hope for 500, and that is very do-able. Since I haven't communicated with Darth I'm not sure what he would like to go for, but that's mainly up to you folks. Anyways I guess the point is this thread is far from dead, and I will continue to post every other day once everything is back on track!

Posponing this thread is something that I'm not interested in (except for my above banter), so without anything else let’s continue with Wave by Wave.

Who’s your worst out of the last wave of 2000:

Bespin Han Solo
Biker Scout (Dirty or clean)
Battle Droid Boomer Damage

The Bespin Han Solo was the best-made Han today, his pose, sculpt and detail were beyond any expectations I ever had. As for the Battle Droid I thought the fig was no big deal as it was literally just another battle Droid with an extra accessory. The Biker Scout I did have a problem with though. Although the figures detail was great, the stance of the figure was god-awful. The figure looked like it had gas. With his belly jutting out, legs tight and arms spread slightly it looks like he passed gas. How on earth could this figure ever be stood to appear like he’s at attention unless they are grouped for the arrival of a lord of flatulence.

Man, what a bummer that the old thread's gone missing. Now we have the "Worst Figure Poll SE." :ermm:

To repeat... Battle Droid.

TC-14/Soft Goods wave
Naboo Royal Guard

01-21-2004, 01:12 AM
First wave
Darth Vader with Interogation Droid

Figure Pack in's
I didn't have a vote for this one as the only figure I had was the blue battle droid.

Multi-Figure packs
I liked Watto's Box and didn't have any of the others so I didn't vote.

TC-14/Soft Goods wave
Darth Sideous Hologram

Swim Jar Jar wave
Destroyer Droid with Battle Damage

Sio Bibble Wave
I don't think I voted before, but I'll go with Queen Amidala mainly because it is mostly a rehash when there are so many other outfits that could be done.

POTJ 1 wave
Anakin Skywalker Mechanic with Pit Droid

POTJ II wave
Battle Droid “Security”

POTJ III & IV waves
Qui-Gon for the poncho. I liked the material and the look of it, just bunched up too much on him.

POTJ V wave
Sebulba. Better than the one with the pod racer with the exception that his feet don't appear capable of gripping anything.

For the newest wave I'll go with Battle Droid Boomer Damage. I guess I'm not a fan of all of the energy and blast effects, except maybe on the older emperor figure.

Oh... ah... err... now I'd like to digitally enhance my past choices, changing them in subtle but annoyingly pointless ways and then add some new music too.

First wave - R2-D2 with Hologram Leia
(Too hard to find.)

Figure Pack in's - Podracer Announcers (Jabba Beast Assortment)
(Ugly set.)

Multi-Figure packs - Obi-Wan Kenobi (Obi vs Maul 2-pack)
(Lame Obi-Wan.)

TC-14/Soft Goods wave - Anakin Skywalker with Cockpit accessories
(Yet another Anakin.)

Swim Jar Jar wave - Swimming Jar Jar Binks
(Too hard to find, not so important.)

Sio Bibble Wave - Pit Droid 2-Pack
(Least exciting.)

POTJ 1 wave - Anakin Skywalker Mechanic with Pit Droid
(Yet another another Anakin.)

POTJ II wave - Battle Droid “Security”
(Yet another Battle Droid.)

POTJ III & IV waves - Qui Gon Jinn with Poncho
(Yet another Qui-Gon, but with an ugly poncho.)

POTJ V wave - Fode and Beed
(Least exciting, but still good.)

I'm going to pretend I voted in the previous waves. :)

1) Wuher: Not a bad figure, but the permanent disfigurement of his hand had to go.

2) Jar Jar (Shield Generator)
I've not seen the Hexen/Rexen figure in person, but the Jar Jar statue tossed serious chunks.

3) God, this is a hard one. Masters of the Darkside still leaves a hole in my collection, and the others were generally really cool. I'll go with Obi-Wan, since he was unnecessary.

4) Another where I'm missing folks. Even though I don't have it, I've seen Holo Sid, and he's the worst of this rather solid bunch.

5) Another solid wave. Again, though I'm missing him, Swimming Jar Jar is useless. I love Pirate Qui-Gon! :Pirate:

6) Ain't got, nor have I seen, any of these.

7) Chocobi-Wan beats out Rehash Dead Maul by an inch! :)

8) Chewbacca with Dejarik Game. Though we looked forward to him, and he's a cool figure, there's absolutely nothing to do with him.

9) Princess Leia General: the figure kinda sucked the first time. Take off the poncho and it doesn't change that.

10) Fode and Beed: both for the sucky design and the lame figure.

11) Another toughie. I'll be really specific and go with the Dirty Biker Scout. His "Dr Doom giving his triumphant speech to Reed Richards while Spider-Man quietly deactivates his master plan behind his back" pose made it useless to get the second one.

I feel merose because that thread was headed to 2000 posts! That goal was secretly set between Jaff and myself. I would also like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who regularly participates in this thread. YOU ALL are the reason why this thread is so successful. Well, I'm going to have to go with the Podrace announcers in the Jabba Beast assortment, this figure just sucked car fumes!

And for referance for you folks who are curious here is a list of our past loosers for the year thanks to Darth:

1995/1996 - Princess Leia Organa (better known as He-Leia)
1997 - Ben Kenobi (Cantina Showdown three pack)
1998 - R2-D2 with Removable Lightsaber (Flashback)
1999 - Originally rolled up Destroyer Droid, but since it was rightfully disqualified, thus the new winner was Anakin Skywalker (Tatooine Showdown)
2000 - I hope it's the Podracer Announcers! :p

I bought this set simply because it was so incredibly absurd looking. In that regard, I really like this set with the silly frog shooting Jabba. But, I never opened it, never wanted this figure loose and it's nice that we ended up with another better carded version.

The first wave in 2001 was a very anticipated wave, and is one tough wave to vote on if your an IG-88 fan like myself

So who's your worst out of the first wave of 2001:

Mon Calamari Officer
K-3PO
IG-88
Plo Koon

First off I am a sucker for anything IG-88, and to date the IG-88 released in this wave is the best IG we have to date, so there is no way I'm going to bet against this figure. Finally having the correct gun for this figure, and the new strap gave some fresh new detail, but I am still kind of bummed that they were still using the vintage mold for this figure!
K-3PO was another fig most of us had been eagerly anticipating, and this droid rocked. It had a tough time standing , but now that we have the deluxe Riekan accessory I can now stand K with his hand against the display and It looks perfect!
Plo Koon was also incredible. With his detail, and NEUTRAL pose he couldnt loose, and with his extra articulation he was a winner without a doubt. So that leaves the Mon Calamari Officer. Without a doubt the Mon officer is a sweet figure, even though it's a repainted Ackbar figure with some retooling.
I was not disappointed in it at all.

With this tough vote I'm going to have to buckle and say Mon Calamari looses because I can't vote against the best IG figure to date. I'll admit that I'm biased on this wave, but I would get the IG first if I was buying SW figs for the first time!

Silent Chazz
01-25-2004, 12:55 AM
I'll vote for the Mon Cal as well. The other 3 I like no doubt. However, I still need the K-3PO for my Collection.

plasticfetish
01-25-2004, 02:35 AM
Ouch... tough stuff.

K-3PO - Great figure. Only found one of these and it's still carded, so I'm still pretty PO'd at Hasbro for such lame distribution on this one.
IG-88 - Great figure. Had to open this one, wish I'd bought another one to keep carded also.
Plo Koon - A really nice, "I'm just standing here" version of Plo Koon. Wish they'd stuck this one in that Jedi multi-pack, 'cause I ended up missing this one. (You snooze you loose.)
Mon Calamari Officer - I love Calamari. Breaded and fried all crunchy and chewy at the same time, perfect with a tangy cocktail sauce or just lemon. Mmmm. This is a fine figure, though it's just Ackbar with a new gun and a hat. Would have been nice if they'd redone this one a bit and made the clothes a bit more accurate.

Mon Calamari Officer gets my vote.

Jaff
01-27-2004, 12:27 AM
I can't believe it, the Mon Cal is unanomously voted down. Sorry lobster boy I guess it was a Trap! Anyways our next wave is yet another wave that is hard to vote for, because most of the figs were really no big deal compared to previous waves.

So who's your worst out of the following:

Princess Leia (Bespin Escape)
Chewbacca (Mechanic)
Aurra Sing

First up is Chewbacca. At first I had no intention of getting this figure, but then I saw his size and scale and realized that up to that time he was the first Chewie to scale. They really had his scale and detail down on this one, one of the best Chewie's made if you ask me. The Bespin Escape Leia was to scale too, but she was stuck in a stance, and who wanted a Leia with all the cool stuff being released around her? Then we come to Aurra. I was waiting for this fig only to find that she had no antenna, and her pose was God awful. In the end I was gratified to have this figure even if they could have done a better job. That's more than I can say for Leia, she's sitting in one of my figure cabinets. I guess that's why I'm going to vote for Leia!

Tycho
01-27-2004, 12:36 AM
As I catch up, I'm voting for CommTech Leia (hood up) as the worst from the run-off.

darthzirock
01-27-2004, 12:55 AM
So who's your worst out of the following:

Princess Leia (Bespin Escape)
Chewbacca (Mechanic)
Aurra Sing

OK, I've missed a few votes here, but I'M BACK!

Gonna go with stubby-legged Aurra Sing. Leia might have been "stuck in one pose," but at least she was correctly proportioned. Not only did Hasbro ruin this figure by giving her grossly undersized legs, but the lack of the cranial antenna was a real disappointment. Add to that a rubbery blaster rifle that always looks bent and crooked, and you get a pretty disappointing chunk of plastic.

plasticfetish
01-27-2004, 02:01 AM
Chewbacca (Mechanic) - One of the few times that I actually thought, "I think I've got enough Chewbaccas for now." I felt like it should have come with something else to make it worth buying.

Hellboy
01-27-2004, 02:12 AM
Last Round: I loved all of these figures but my least favorite would have to be the Mon Calamari Officer.

Current Round: Leia and Chewy were nice mainly because they were scale but Aurra Sing was definately lacking. I agree with darthzirock's points of the rifle being to rubbery and the omission of her cranial antenna.

LusiferSam
01-27-2004, 01:06 PM
What a close call, I liked all of these figures. I hate to do it but my vote's for Aurra Sing. In this wave she is probably my favorite, which means that I had high expectation that weren't meet. First thing, like a number of people have said, the rifle was rubbery (foreshadowing future accessories) and the pose was a bit lame. I was very disappointed by the fact that one pistol was an accessory and the other of molded in. And the articulation could have been better (for ALL the figures in this wave). You know the fact that the antenna was missing never bothered me. Looking a photos of Aurra Sing I think the antenna was too thin for 3 3/4" scale. Had it been included it would have been rubbery too and looked limp. Or lasted all of 2 second had it been stiff.

El Chuxter
01-27-2004, 01:24 PM
Mon Cal Officer is boring. They could've changed the head slightly to make him a lot cooler. Or toned down the bulkiness. (The first Ackbar was always a bit too buff for my tastes.) K-3PO might be a rehash of C-3PO, but at least all the protocol droids are exactly alike except for coloration.

Aurra Sing is a decent figure, but inaccurate, severely limited in poseability, and completely blown out of the water by the rest of her wave.

Kidhuman
01-27-2004, 06:48 PM
Didnt like Aurra SIng so she is it.

TheDarthVader
01-27-2004, 06:50 PM

Yeah, well I have a clear opinion:

The Jabba's Podrace Announcers were wrong (because they were based on concept art that was changed), but they do offer us a 2nd alien of Fode & Beed's species to add to our dioramas.

Leia CommTech's softgoods skirt and hardtop doesn't work. The white was the worst color to match paint and fabric with. A better job of doing this might be Mace Windu from the Jedi Council sets. He looks much better. But Leia was just matched all wrong.

On top of that:

Leia Senator 1995
Leia all-new likeness (Senator) 1998
Leia Collection (Senator) 1998
Leia CommTech (Senator) 1999

And in 9 years, where is Leia ESB "Recovery Room" from the Nebulon-B Frigate?

Where is an all-plastic Leia Bespin?

Where is a Leia Endor with removeable poncho, gun in holster, and removeable helmet that when stripped of her gear, makes a Leia "Corellian General" figure that is not wearing Depends?

The history of softgoods is a mixed bag. It is appropriate so that characters that need to sit in vehicles can do so, and kids can use their imagination or diorama builders can have Obi-Wan with his cloak on, sitting in Luke's landspeeder the way he authentically looked. Sometimes it is executed well (softgoods Obi-Wan, Maul, Qui-Gon, Mace, Vader CommTech, Fett 300, etc.) Leia CommTech turned out awful and stands with the Leia Collection's Han and Luke as figures for the ugly bin.

I needed to rant. Rant. Rant. Rant.

We could have had Leia Recovery Room in 1999 if not for that figure!

OK. I'm done now.

Back from vacation (man, that's too bad we lost the original thread :( ...)!!

2000 Winner:
Nope I won't vote for the 2-Headed Announcer as I totally agree with Tycho's point except for one thing: LEIA GENERAL is the worst. She gets my 2000 ultimate pick :dead: !

2001 First Wave:
Great figures but I must choose... I'm going with IG-88 simply because he's the one from the four that had already been made. Very though choice anyway.

2001 Second wave:
Very nice figs again. Although Aurra Sing can be seen as inaccurate, I just love her  . And this can be my all-time favorite Chewie. Guess I gotta pick LEIA BESPIN here...

The next wave is a given, so why not just tear up the new Darth Maul!

Who's your worst out of this wave:

Saesee Tin
Queen Amidalla (Theed Invasion)
Darth Maul Sith Apprentice

Theed Amidalla and Saesee Tin were awesome figs, and rare ones at that, but the Darth Maul Red Blood Apprentice was useless, unnecessary waste of plastic.

Is this that Girly-Maul wearing the tan dress and having the bananas sticking out of his color like some fruit-of-the-loom commercial?

I HATE that figure!

I feared it would give EU figures a worse rap than they already have in some circles.

Fear leads to anger.

Anger leads to hate.

I hate that Maul!

I returned him! I have no idea what possessed me to buy him in the first place - i think I'd picked him up for someone else, as incidently, he did not pegwarm. But I couldn't stand the sight of him!

He was POLLUTING my Star Wars collection.

I wanted to rip up his card into tiny little pieces and set fire to them!

I wanted to bite Maul's head right off his stupid looking turtleneck!

I wanted to stick his dress on one of those "dress up Polly" figures they sell at Wal-Mart and see how he liked that! (she'd look better wearing that).

I wanted to microwave his torn off head for long enough time that his tattoos and colors melted together so I could find out if he was molded in black or red!

I wanted to poor whiskey into an empty beer bottle and put his decapitated, cloakless body into the mix and ignite it like a molotov cocktail!

I wanted to find a starving skunk and feed his melted, color-blended-putrified head to the thing with Alkeseltzers!

Then I wanted to throw Polly the Wal-Mart girls' action figure with Maul's dress on into a kennel with Pitbulls!

I really did not like that figure.

I actually have two of that Darth Maul figure, because the first one was on a damaged card, so I opened it when I got a better one. Not that great of a figure. I didn't hate it like Tycho, but certainly the other two figures are better. I didn't get the Theed Invasion Amidala until much later. I think I actually passed on it one time because I thought I had it, but I got it confused with the Sabé figure. A good decoy she was indeed.

For the previous wave, I guess I'll go with Aurra Sing as well. A great figure to have but not as good as the other ones.

Not too many pack in's were made in 2001, but the ones that were stunk mainly because of quality or because they were really useless rehashes. The 300th Boba Fett was one monster figure, and because he was uniquely packaged I thought I'd throw him in this group:

So who's your worst out of the non-blister card figures of 2001:

300th Boba Fett
Bespin Security Guard (Carbon Freezing Playset)
B-Wing Pilot (B-Wing Fighter)
TIE Fighter Pilot (TIE Interceptor)

Boba Fett was one cool figure, and naturally he towers above all of the figures in this group. The new TIE Fighter Pilot was really a bad figure IMO because his head wobbled all over the place. Even today I keep him in the TIE Interceptor so that there is no way his loose head will fall off (This is also the case for the TIE Bomber fighter Pilot). Did anyone else have this problem. The B-Wing pilot with the B-Wing was really frustrating because it was Ten Numb from Rebel Pilots with a worse paint job. It was just such a waste as they could have made another Pilot. I was initially going to trash this figure, but then I used the fig to custom a red uniformed Ten Numb (which was the least Hasbro should have done for this rehash). Then we come to the insanely crappy Bespin Security Guard. This figure looked stupid no matter how you looked at it. After I had waited for 5 years for this figure, this was what got made! Although I still have this figure for background stuff I try to keep him hidden because he looks terrible!

Mad Slanted Powers
01-31-2004, 11:47 AM
Tough to choose. It's definitely not Boba Fett as this was a very cool figure and cool packaging. I think I do have all the others as well. I opened the Carbon Freezing box but don't know if I got a really good look at the figure other than the picture on the box. I don't know if the TIE pilot has a bad head or not. I'll pick the B-Wing pilot since it is basically the same as the one from the Rebel Pilots 3-pack. They should have made a red one.

TheDarthVader
01-31-2004, 12:15 PM
I agree with Jaff on this one. That Bespin Guard was horrible! Jeers to the B-Wing pilot because of his dullness and jeers to the tie fighter pilot for not having a vertebre in his neck! That wobbly head is horrible! I almost voted for the pilot but the sculpt was too awesome.

This next wave had some sweet figures. Although it's not a difficult vote to narrow down, it could be stressful for Jar Jar fans.

Who's your worst out of the Lando wave:

Lando Calrissian Bespin Escape
Tessek
R2-Q5 (Imperial Astromech Droid)
Jar Jar Binks (Tatooine)

Without a doubt the Lando made in this wave was the best Lando I have ever seen. There really is no way they can improve upon this figure in my eyes. He's in my top 10 favorite figures. The Tessek was pretty cool to. liked his little holster (which at the time was beginning to be the new nice concept with figures). R2-Q5 was nice and all even though he appeared in the movie less than a second. I'm still glad to have him. Then there's Jar Jar. This Jar Jar spites those of you who hate him, but I always liked this figure. He's a statue, but he still looks nice.

Now for the vote: Sorry Jar Jar, you just don't stand a chance against the other three figures. Someday you can be appreciated, but not today!

Loved the Lando figure, and it's always great to get another droid, even if I had to order it a couple years later. I don't think I knew who Tessek was so I wasn't too excited about the figure. It's well done though. Jar Jar is all right too, but too limited a pose, so I will have to vote for him.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say the R2 unit. I'm a droid lover, but this is one of my least favorites. And that Jar Jar is great, even if it is a one pose wokder. I love him sticking his tongue out.

LusiferSam
02-03-2004, 10:50 AM
I'm also going to go against the grain and vote for Tessek. I dislike the pose, the cape, the skirt, and the location of the holster. The right arm is funny. I always said a plastic cape should have been cloth. The novelty of the holster had worn off by the time I got this figure and its in a hard place reach. The only thing I have against Jar Jar is that it's Jar Jar.

TheDarthVader
02-03-2004, 06:56 PM
All of you that voted against JJB are crazy! I think that figure is cool and I am not even a JJB fan! When you think about it, that JJB could be the best JJB figure we have. The sculpt was nice, the paint was awesome, and the long tongue is sweet! I believe this JJB "licks" some of the competition.

I agree with Lucifer Sam. Tessek could have been much better. Sure he is an alien and that is great but the sculpt wasn't near as good as I had expected. I opened one of the Tesseks that I bought and was not impressed.

The next wave was originally one tough group to find since everyone mainly wanted just one figure in that wave. More of this wave is worst than good!

So who's your worst out of the Sandtrooper wave:

Sandtrooper Tatooine Patrol
Obi-Wan Kenobi Cold Weather Adventure
Qui-Gon Jinn Jedi Armor

The Sandtrooper released was one of the coolest figures of this year. Even today I am astounded by my admiration for this fig. There is no way they could have toped this fig. Even after I got my Sandtrooper builder set I still like the original POTJ version more than the others. This truely was one astounding figure!

As for the other two I hate them beyond words. I don't even acknowledge their existance because they are really juvenille and of course were EU garbage that was not related to any published material. Just think: Two figures from the movie could have been made in stead of these two figs, and since this was the POTJ line they would have had high quality! Since I loathe these two figs I can't decide which one I hate more, so for the first time in the Wave by Wave thread I am going to let someone Steal my vote!

I just (last night) found a long lost and heavily abused POTJ Sandtrooper on the pegs at Target. Something that had been tucked away for a while and then put out finally for me to snatch up and give to my son. He was pretty thrilled with it. I was thrilled when I found mine originally... it's a great figure.

I'd bought both of the other 2, but sold them off with a few others that fit into the, "why do I have these carded figures in my collection, when I don't have the room to display them" category. They seemed like really well made, detailed and basically cool looking figures, but kind of pointless to me. Of the 2, maybe the Qui-Gon was cooler, so I'll vote Obi-Wan Kenobi (Cold Weather Gear)... even though I'd think that Obi-Wan would have been more fun to play with because of the accessories.

dr_evazan22

Sandtrooper was an excellent figure with the articulation and the sand on him. I don't hate the EU figures, but I agree there are so many other EU characters I would rather see done. Both of these figures are pretty well done so it's hard to decide which one to eliminate but I will go with Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan has more accessories and he could probably fit in as an extra in a Hoth diorama or something.

As the POTJ waves move on more and more figures are increasing in quality and distribution. Thankfully not many of the figures were hard to find otherwise they would be as talked about as Ephant. This next wave with the exception of Shimi was a little too common but the figs were really sweet!

Who's your worst out of this next batch:

Ketwol
Ellorrs Madak
Bespin Security Guard
Shimi Skywalker

After a year and a half of false announcements Shimi finally made it out, and it was easy to tell that she was made a year before her release. Her facial detail was lacking compared to the current POTJ standards, but I still like her figure allot even though many have said in the past that she does not look great. The Bespin Security Guard was great, they could not make him better what with the accessories, articulation and all. What an awesome fig, and he was common enough to get multiples! Ellorrs Madak was just too cool for school. Most of us wanted this fig forever, and he did not disappoint even though he cant stand well. Ketwol rounded off the bunch, and the detail of this figure was pretty neat. Who knew he had stilts under his pants. Still that was part of Ketwol's problem. His pants did not cover up his backside, and add to that fact that he derives from Special Edition footage. With those two points he = the loser of the bunch because I'd rather have Lak Sivrak anyday, even though Ketwol is a nice fig!

Kidhuman

My vote's for Ellorrs Madak. To be honest I didn't like any of the figures in this wave. The Bespin Guard looked like a kid. Shimi I thought was too small. Ketwol was a SE replacement. But Ellorrs Madak just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't vote for him to begin with. As a cantina alien he's a bit boring. And what's up with the ankle holster? Where is he's glass? Nothing to complain about Shmi and Ellorrs Madak. I would be tempted to throw the rock to the Bespin Guard since I don't fall for this guy too much but yep, he's the best Bespin Guard we've had so far.

It's time for one more wave and as we're coming close to the end of 2001 this wave is not a tough one.

So who's your worst out of this wave:

Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot
Han Solo Death Star Escape
Darth Vader Emperor’s Wrath
Obi-Wan Kenobi Jedi Armor

It's a no brainer that the useless Obi-Wan Kenobi Jedi Armor wins this wave! The other figures were pretty good, but were not my favorite of the POTJ wave. Darth was just another Darth to me, and Han would have been great had he been neutral, instead he was more of a statue than a figure. Finally there was the prize: Luke. What a nice pilot figure of him, but those buck-teeth were a little extreme.

sith_killer_99

Good ol' "Bucktooth Luke". Man that is an ugly figure (with or without the buckteeth).

I also didn't care for the head sculpt on Han in this wave, but it wasn't as bad as Luke. I like the figure, I just prefer the head sculpt from CommTech Han or Death Star Capture Han.

Come to think of it, Luke probably wasn't that bad either, but I didn't buy him simply because I didn't need him.

Aw, c'mon, Jaff, that Vader was extremely scene-specific, but it was a gorgeous sculpt! And since we already know your loathing for EU figures, it's really not any wonder you voted for Jedi Armor Obi-Wan. However, it really wasn't that bad of a figure. No, I'd say they came down to Han and Luke in this wave. I'll go with Womprat-Teeth Luke, because you really have to wonder if the sculptor here just had some sort of personal beef with Mark Hamill! When I look at a figure, I look to see if the results match the concept, and if the figure is more than a statue. While Death Star Escape Han does match the concept, he really is just a statue, and not one of my favorites. Therefore he is the worst.

After waiting for Amanaman for years he is finally released on a new deluxe packaging, and with this set was a really sweet Luke. As for the others, I bet that we'll be voting on these as the worst in this batch!

Who's your worst out of the Deluxe assortments:

Deluxe Luke Skywalker in Echo Base Bacta Tank
Deluxe Darth Maul with Sith Attack Droid
Deluxe Amanaman
Deluxe Princess Leia with Sail Barge Cannon

You can't touch Luke in Bacta. Although the Luke figure itself is not that big of a deal, the accessories are pretty cool. It's really nice 2-1B got his own stand, and that the upcoming FX-7 had a base to set in! The Deluxe Darth Maul was O.K. I had read the comics that this figure derived from, and the chest job looked cool, still this figure was nothing to impress. The same went for the Leia. Although the cannon was cool we still don't have a barge to put it with, and her rubber gaffe stick is really poor quality. Then there's Banana-Man. Personally this fig is one of my favorites, but I was very disappointed that his staff is made of the cheapest rubber. No matter how I try to display this fig the staff just bends down. Nowadays that's the way Hasbro does their weapons and it stinks. Amanaman and Leia were the first two figs that I noticed having cheap plastic weapons.

I suppose each one of these had its good points and its bad.

Luke in Bacta Tank - A really great version of what it is, but not the most exciting toy. I've always found the "guy wearing a diaper floating in water" think to be a little odd, makes me strangely uncomfortable, but it's great that they made it.
Deluxe Darth Maul with Sith Attack Droid - By this time, I was way too sick of Maul figures to care about this one. The concept is good really, but just not interesting to me.
Deluxe Amanaman - Jaff's right, that stupid bendy staff is a big minus working against an otherwise decent alien figure. I'm not too fond of that gumball machine Salacious Crumb either, but no big deal.
Deluxe Princess Leia with Sail Barge Cannon - I never bought this, haven't really decided if I need another bikini girl Leia figure... but they're still clogging the pegs at TRU if I change my mind. It's a decent toy, but not really necessary I think.

My vote goes to Sail Barge Cannon Leia for being rehash of an idea that wasn't too terribly old.

Its a tough chose between Luke and Darth Maul. I'm not a hugh fan of EU figures, but this Darth Maul looks kind of cool. So my vote's for Luke. I just wasn't impressed with this figure. I really don't know why people are so ga-ga over this figure, over all its one of my least favorite Lukes.

Deluxe Wave:
This is one of my favorite Leia here. Luke and Darth Maul are nice cool figs to have and most of us were more than happy to get the Amanaman (the vintage version is one of the few figs I'm still missing in my collection)...MAUL w/SITH ATTACK DROID was the last of the bunch I bought therefore for him the bell tolls.

With the celebration of the 25th anniversary came some figure 2 packs, and although these figures were statues they looked well with their respective figures.

So who's your worst out of the Anniversary figs:

Deluxe Anniversary Luke Skywalker
Deluxe Anniversary Princess Leia

Deluxe Anniversary Han Solo
Deluxe Anniversary Chewbacca

Deluxe Anniversary Darth Vader
Deluxe Anniversary Ben Kenobi

The deluxe figures would be a foreshadow of the statue style that was comming with the Saga line and I'll admit that I was not impressed with these figs even though I bought them. The Luke and Leia looked good together on display, as did the Han and Chewie, but for some reason the Darth/Ben pack (which was the most popular) was my least favorite. I guess if I had to pick an individual figure I would have to go with Darth because he has just been overdone one too many times!

The last assortment of the year was one of the coolest waves released at that time, and unfortunately we need to pick a looser from this bunch. Start grinding your teeth as you pick because all of these figs were pretty nice.

So who's your worst out of the FX-7 wave:

FX-7
Imperial Officer
Rebel Fleet Trooper
Sabe

FX-7 is without a doubt one of the best SW figs ever made. This figure was beyond any expectations I ever had. The Rebel Fleet Trooper was alos one of those figures that shocked me because of the detail, and articulation. I really liked what they did with the Troopers legs. The Imperial officer was not as impressive as the first two, but the fig was awesome and welcome, especially with his arm articulation, making him able to stand at attention. Sabe was also a nice fig, however she was not as strong as the other two figs, and therefore she will get the vote!

Silent Chazz
02-14-2004, 10:52 AM

Mad Slanted Powers
02-14-2004, 01:05 PM
I must not have responded to the e-mail that said there was a response to this list as I have not been getting notices all week so I'm a bit behind.

I'll go with Darth Maul in the Deluxe figures. An okay figure, but an EU version of a character we already have too many versions of. I too wasn't really excited about Amanaman, but it was cool figure to have and had all the accessories. Leia was all right. The Luke figure was good because with the new FX-7, you could now recreate that scene from the movie.

I really liked the Anniversary figures. Sure they were scene specific, but they are meant to be that way, and can be displayed nicely without opening them. I can't really pick a least favorite though. So someone can take my vote here as well as for the FX-7 wave. Those were all great figures. FX-7 was well done and fit with the Luke Bacta tank. The Imperial Officer makes a great army builder. The Rebel Trooper was an improvement over the old one, both in size and articulation. Sabé was a great addition as well.

Hellboy

There was a good reason that that version of Maul was not approved by GL for use in the movies. And it's the same good reason that I'm using to vote for it here. The reason it just plain old sucks! I understand that there are other EU fig's in there, but they could at least be used in imagined adventures by kids. The only thng I can think of where that Maul would fit in might be something like State Dinner Maul (if he had lived to see his Master take over the galaxy) or Banana Republic Maul.

Darth Maul was supposed to be scary. Well his EU figure succeeded in being that scary - but all for the wrong reasons.

He narrowly edges out the Bespin Guard from the Freezing Chamber Playset for my vote.

There is still something disturbingly wrong about that Darth Maul EU figure (POTJ one - not the deluxe with the droid (the shirtless one rocked!))

Trenchcoat Maul with the turtleneck looked like everyone's worst nightmare of the Sith going Drag Queen.

And that sucked so bad!

As we come to 2002 it is time to accept the end of the glorious POTJ line. For our last picking of POTJ we get BoShek, and a few other surprizes, and it sure was a bitter moment knowing that this line was passing. Next up Sneak Peak figures!

So who's your worst out of the last POTJ figures:

Zutton
Eeth Koth
Teebo
BoShek
R4-M9

What is there to say: BoShek. That about sums it up for this group. BoShek was a lovely figure even though he was reminicent of Bossk. R4-M9 was a real treat, and I never expected to see this figure ever made. The ewok Teebo made me want more of these little furry guys. He really looked cool, and even today I am waiting for me because Teebo represented the Ewok figures so well. Zutton was perfect. He looked just like he did in the film, and it really was something to see how far the Snaggletooth figures have come! Then we come to the shame of the "POTJ FILM" line: Eeth Koth. Today I have every single Jedi in the Jedi council as seen in Episode I thanks to the new Cinema scenes and blister card offerings. However I cannot complete this diorama because Eeth is in a ridiculous "battle" pose which he was never in during Episode I. I bought the figure because I needed an Eeth Koth figure, but I don't display him much, even in my Arena Battle Diorama because of the extremity in which they posed this figure. Eeth was a great character to make, but not in this wave. In march 2002 when I got Eeth I was worried. Hasbro suggested that Eeth was reminiscent of the Episode II line comming up, and I was nervous about that. Statues are statues, not figures, Eeth is an example of that!

Kidhuman
02-17-2004, 12:08 PM
BOshek was great and I saw him at retail once and didnt have any cash on me toget him. I finally got him in a trade with SK99 and I love that figure. R4-M9 is a nice droid to the collection. Teebo is a great example of an ewok, and the last one to be made. We need more of these guys.

And now down to Zutton and Eeth. I like both figures, but not nearly as much as the rest of this assortment. Zutton is cool is his own way, but I could never bring myself tocall him Zutton(always snaggletooth to me). Eeth is a great addition to the Jedi which we were getting more and more of. Iknow for a fact that I will be voting for him down the line in the Saga series, so I will give my vote to Zutton.

LusiferSam
02-17-2004, 12:17 PM

TheDarthVader

I liked the Eeth Koth figure. Even though his pose was not "movie accurate", the figure was nicely sculpted. The paint was right on and the head sculpt was amazing. Therefore, I give my vote to Zutton . All of the figures in this wave were excellent but Zutton seems to be the weakest link, goodbye.

The Sneak Peak figures were our first introduction to the Saga line, and whether you love or hate them we want to know!

Who's your worst out of the Sneak Peak figs:

Sneak peak: Zam Wessell
Sneak peak: Jango Fett
Sneak peak: Clone Trooper
Sneak peak: R3-T7

I admit to being one of those folks who were not in any way enthusiastic about these figs. I really am not a fan of non-neutral figures because you are so limited with what you can do with "battle" posed figures. There were two nuetral figures in the Sneak Peak wave, and the first was R3-T7. There's nothing to say bad about the figure except that he is so hard to find in the film (right in outside the nightclub). Zam Wessell was not so bad because she was neutral, but after they made the new Zam this figure looked severly lacking in detail. Then we come to the two posed figures. The Clone Trooper looked O.K., and his gun was nice but like I said he was a statue, and could not guard any figure acurately. He was strickly an Arena figure! The Jango Fett is the figure that gets the vote though. I'm not voting for him because there were too many Jango's made. I'm voting for him becuase his pose is so exteme that he's not good for much. I will say that he looks great standing in front of the Reek. Still one of my worst problems with this figure was his guns. His pose was so rigid that the arms of the figure were inflexible. When putting his guns in his hands the barrels of the pistols would always criss cross rather than point forward. No matter how many times I would bend the arms back (I don't much worry about the value of this figure) they would inevitably bend back and criss cross the guns. The good thing about these figs is that they could stand by themselves, which became a serious problem later in the Saga line!

Who's your worst out of the Sneak Peak figs: Zam Wessell, Jango Fett, Clone Trooper, R3-T7.

I'm gonna vote double for Zam Wessell, snagging Silent Chazz's vote!

I'll vote for the Clonetrooper this round. I liked the other figures quite a bit actually but the CT's pose and dirty lower legs kept this first rendition from being a good army builder candidate. All the later versions were superior IMO.

Previous Wave:
I just can't make up my mind on this one. Probably the best POTJ wave...guess I'll flip a coin for either Eeth Koth (darn battle stance) or Teebo (never liked the Ewoks much).

...and the loser is...TEEBO!

Sneak Preview Wave:
I agree with Jaff on the Zam Wesell Saga release being far more better than the Sneak. But my vote also goes to SNEAK PEAK JANGO: the arms are a pain in the butt, he's definetly not the best Jango fig and yessss, way toooooooo many Jangos anyway :stupid: !!!

I see I'm too late for the 2001 runoff but I would have voted for EU Maul anyway. I'll go with Zutton in the first 2002 wave. He was the one I had the least interest in, and he sat on the pegs forever while I never found any of the others except for Eeth Koth. For the Sneak Preview figures, I'll go with Zam because I like her pose the least amongst all the figures.

Sooo behind now... but what the heck.

FX-7, Imperial Officer, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Sabe - Sabe for this one.

2001 WORST FIGURE RUN OFF!! - The weird looking Bespin Guard made not getting this set much easier to take.

Zutton, Eeth Koth, Teebo, BoShek, R4-M9 - Eeth Koth was the only figure that I didn't want and still don't have.

Sneak peak: Zam Wessell, Jango Fett, Clone Trooper, R3-T7 - It's a close one between Fett and the Clone Trooper, but I'll say Clone Trooper. Jango Fett's pose and weenie little guns hurt, but I was honestly kind of shocked when I first opened the Clone Trooper. So rubbery, and that bendy gun wouldn't even stay in it's hands... very lame. (I think that the fixed gun 3-pack version is better.) A major sign of things and disappointments to come with this figure.

For me it boils down to Jango or the CT. I forget who it was, but someone mentioned the arms not being straight, and I have the same gripe with him, but my vote is going towards the CT. I'm not crazy about the 'dirt affect' on his legs, and even worse, IMO, is the fact that this is a statue. Now, I know that I've not voted for other statue fig's, but those others had more going for them. I think that this first CT fig should've had at least as much articulation as any other basic fig, but it would've been great if it had been the SA version. This statue should've been included in the 3 CT packs from last summer.

Before we go on to the Saga line there is one more group that we need to vote on, and that is the vehicle figures for 2002 POTJ line. So here we go, say goodbye to the POTJ line.

So who's your worst out of the Vehicle pack in's:

Dak Ratler (Snowspeeder)
Luke Skywalker Hoth Pilot (Snowspeeder)
Paploo (AT-ST with Speeder Bike)

It was nice to finally get a hold of Dak Ratler, and now I can kill him thousands of time with joy, too bad the walker foot isn't big enough to cause the crushing effect. lol The Paploo is a fair ewok figure. It does not even compare with the Teebo fig, but it's a nice ewok nonetheless. I have to shoot down Luke. Although the fig is better than the 1996 version, it was not that much different with the exception of his tubing. So nix this one, I'd rather value the other two.

JAFF, I am going to allow this (this ONE time). But he needed to add the Tie Pilot from the POTJ Tie Bomber.

Jawachef, I appreciate what you are trying to do but Jaff and I are the administraters of this thread. WE post the choices and vote counts ETC ETC. Thanks anyway.

Vote from:

DACK RALTER (SNOWSPEEDER)
LUKE SKYWALKER (SNOWSPEEDER)
PAPLOO (AT ST)
TIE PILOT (BOMBER)

I will steal kidhuman's vote and put two for Luke Skywalker . The only reason why I like Dack is because he was never offered before...and neither was Paploo. I wish hasbro would release Paploo on a single card. :(

Well it's time for the Saga line. I have to admit when I first saw these figures on the shelf I had wondered if they were really SW figs because of their statue like poses. Then in the end I bought one of each anyways, and I liked some figures, adored few figures and was disappointed in most of the figures. I'm real curious to see if some of you are in the same page as me!

So who's your worst out of the first 6 Saga figures:

#1 Anakin Skywalker Outland Peasant Disguise
#2 Padme Amidala Arena Escape
#3 Obi-Wan Kenobi Coruscant Chase
#4 C-3PO
#5 Kit Fisto Jedi Master
#6 Super Battle Droid

The Anakin was a fig that I just "liked", but was borderline dissappointment. I liked the fact that he had a push saber to pay homage to vintage, but the figure itself was lacking. There's no question in my mind that most of you will agree that Padme Arena is the looooossssseeerrrr of this group. What a terribly executed figure, and it was quite embarrassing for the SW line to have a Lara Croft sculpt! As for Obi-Wan Coruscant Chase I actually liked this figure because his pose was not as extreme as the other figs! The C-3PO on the other hand was another dissappointment. He was just too bulky. I liked the idea that his plating came off, but an Arnold Schwarzenegar 3PO just didn't look right. Some of you may throw stones at me for saying this, but I just liked Kit Fisto, and I was borderline dissappointment on this fig. His pose had nothing to offer but Diorama usage, and although I thought he looked cool, I would have loved this fig had he been neutral. I still think we need a neutral Kit Fisto. The Super Battle Droid was the best of this bunch (I liked it) because this figure is neutral, and does look good. So out of the first six figures there was 3 dissapointments, 1 borderline dissapointment, and 2 likes!

I am gonna say Padme with 3PO a close second.

LusiferSam

I was disappointed with all of these figures. But my vote's Anakin. There's a reason Kenner stopped with the telescoping lightsabers. I hated the poncho, the chest and gun accessories were lame, on my the magnet stuck too far out of the hand, and I didn't like the pose. Padme is a very distant second.

Hellboy
02-23-2004, 06:34 PM
I'm with LusiferSam on this one. Anakin Skywalker: Outland Peasant Disguise is far and away the worst out of this group.

Anakin Peasant Disguise. It was the most limiting figure of the bunch.

TheDarthVader
02-23-2004, 11:28 PM
This could be the easiest vote I have cast yet. The Anakin in disguise was disgusting. I have opened this figure (I still have one on card for my collection) and the playability is awful. His hand can not hold the blaster without the use of the magnet. And the magnet turns the blaster due north or due south. This could be the worst saga figure to date!!!

This could be the worst saga figure to date!!!
No way! There's been many that are worse. With the Saga line begins the dawn of a new age for ill-conceived and cheaply made Star Wars figures. How thrilled those factories that formerly produced only bootleg toys from cheap recycled plastics must have been when Hasbro came knocking at their door. How full the bargain bins have become as a result of the many poorly conceived "action" gimmicks. Witness the sight of children and collectors alike shifting their attention to other toy lines... see their dollars spent elsewhere. Watch as Hasbro - clueless - wonders aloud, "Hey, where did everybody go? Do you want another version of Jango Fett now?"

(**cough-cough**) Moving on...

Anakin Outland Peasant Disguise - was boring and the accessories were pointless, but the vintage style saber idea was somewhat clever. (NOT my least favorite Anakin!)
Padme Amidala Arena Escape - is a complete piece of junk. I hate that "quick-draw" mess, and I'm not fond of her pose in general. Boring, un-fun toy!
Obi-Wan Kenobi Coruscant Chase - was decent, but the stiff arm really limits the play value. His little droid friend was cool, but the plastic is too soft and bendy.
C-3PO - is kind of novel, yet the fun wears off pretty quickly. The gummy soft plastic makes me unhappy... but I don't hate it.
Kit Fisto Jedi Master - is a figure that I really do hate, and Kit Fisto gets my vote. Should have been a great figure, but it was crippled by that lame gimmick. I handed this one over to my son instantly and even he ignores this toy. Kids hate the button gimmicks more than anyone I think. When CW swimming Kit came out, this Kit with his cheap plastic, loose joints and painfully un-fun leg stance became a battleground casualty. (I've been hoping that he'll finally fall apart, which I'm sure he will, so I can toss it in the trash.) Anyway... not my favorite. :) Maybe even my least favorite Epidode 2 figure.
Super Battle Droid - stinks also, but once you toss the rocket arm aside, it's not so bad for a $2 clearance buy.

I'm gonna buck the trend here. I think the Padme, Obi and 3PO all deserve to burn in eternal damnation. But the one I absolutley hate is the 3PO. I think the idea of the plating was decent, but very poorly executed. It looks TERRIBLE!

While I don't 'like' the Ani, I do like the costume.

For me, it was no contest. The 'Let's evoke nostalga with a saber embedded in his arm while showing that even we can mess up Real Scan technology and 21st century sculpting while fleecing money out of the pockets of our prey..oops..fans' Anakin Outlandish I'm practicing for a fencing opera with Houdini box and pistol trick is the worst. It's figures like this that made me realize I'm a tool if I even try to be a completist. I could open my figures for dioramas and still not know what scene that box should go in-maybe an articulated figure could sit on it. Or I could buy a Pippin and stick his secret whatever in it:D .
I saw a damaged version of this for $.50 at a Walmart come last month's clearance time, and I wouldn't even buy it to deform it while listening to 50 cent!
Kids, I don't advocate damaging your figures, but some things are too bad to deform-ignoring them is the harsher treatment, I reckon!

Onward we go, and the next set of figures actually have some good ones in it! Saga can surprise too

Who's your worst out of the next batch:

#7 Boba Fett Kamino Escape
#8 Tusken Raider Female with Child
#9 Captain Typho Padme’s Head of Security
#10 Shaak Ti Jedi Master
#11 Battle Droid Arena Battle
#12 Plo Koon Arena Battle

Boba Fett was an O.K. figure, although he had a weird stance he was still a good figure. Tusken Raider Female and Captain Typho were nice figs. I liked these two allot out of the first offerings of Saga figs. They were both Neutral, and detailed. The Battle Droid really was no big deal, since we had them before. Then there are the two crappy figs. Super posed Shaak Ti was not as bad as Plo Koon because we have never had her before, still she would have looked 100 times better if they posed her neutral. Plo Koon I did not buy out of this group. He just looked ridiculous compared to the POTJ version. Why remake a figure worse than an original sculpt?

Kidhuman
02-25-2004, 10:29 AM
Boba Fett was a cool figure to have as a kid. Tytpho was decent as was the Tusken mother and child. The Battle Droid I never got becuase I passed on him having so many from EPI line and POTJ. Shaak Ti was cool, first fig of a new Jedi is always cool. And that leaves Plo Koon. Exactly Jaff. WHy resculpt worse than a fig that came out a year or so before?

TheDarthVader

I am a big plo koon fan so I can not vote for him. Call it cheating! :crazed: That leaves either boba fett or battle droid to get my vote. I will go with Battle Droid because he had less accessories than fett and because he was kind of flimsy.

Boba Fett Kamino Escape - was OK, it was nice way to get a spare set of blasters for Jango also.
Tusken Raider Female with Child - was something I liked, because it was kind of a weird and unexpected idea.
Captain Typho - was a really decent figure.
Shaak Ti - I didn't buy. For the most part it looks OK, but I just didn't wan't another action posed figure. In retrospect, it's probably not the worst of it's kind.
Battle Droid Arena Battle - was a big disappointment at first. The white version was extremely soft and bendy, it didn't hold it's weapon at all, and the head would pop off too easily. I ignored these until I ended up finding a red one a bit later. The red version, as it turns out, was much sturdier (seems to me) and worth having.
Plo Koon Arena Battle - was again, another action pose figure that I didn't need. I skipped this one, and probably should give Plo Koon my vote for being the least interesting of this bunch.

Mad Slanted Powers

A bit behind again as I'm still not receiving reminders. Saga wave one I'll pick Anakin because of the lightsaber thing. Kit Fisto doesn't look too bad in his pose. C-3PO does look a bit bulky. Padme would be better more neutral but her pose fits the scene it's from pretty well. Obi's hair and pants don't appear to be the right color. The Super Battle Droid is all right and good for army building.

Wave Two I will have to vote for Plo Kloon for reasons already stated, and also what is up with that blast effect?. Battle droid could be better. I think one of my red ones that is open seems to have a leg shorter than the other or something. Shaak Ti's pose is not too bad. Boba is okay with the accessories and all. Typho is good with a more neutal pose and removable helmet. And lastly, the Tusken female with child allows us to create the scene they didn't show in the movie: Anakin slaughtering all the Tuskens including the women and children.

Actually, there are a lot of figures in this group that I was pretty unhappy with. However, the one that ticked me off the most was Shaak Ti. All the images I'd seen of this character hinted at a really interesting, visually impressive female Jedi. Then, the figure comes out, and it's a barely articulated mini-statue! Ah man, I was just so disappointed by this figure, and it still gets me a bit upset that they haven't done a nice, new version of her ... what a wasted opportunity not continuing the CW line is! :frus:

Well I wasn't a big fan of Plo Koon either but I was way more disappointed in the Battle Droid so I feel compelled to vote for it. I was looking forward to getting an improvement over the EP1 Battle Droids but instead it was a average figure that became a limp mess of plastic when the room temperature rose. I suppose you could make a pretty good arguement for getting Central-Air for your house if you had huge dioramas with this figure in it. :Ponder:

SAGA 1st Wave: C-3PO

SAGA 2nd Wave: Bend-Em BATTLE DROID. At least, the more EpII-accurate red version got my attention but still the figure is pretty lame as it can't hold his weapon, barely stands up(mine) and is made of cheap melty plastic. Thumbs down!

The next set of figures had allot of neat figures, and for me it was a bit hard to pick out the worst in this bunch.

Who's your worst out of this batch:

#13 Jango Fett Kamino Escape
#14 R2-D2 Coruscant Sentry
#15 Geonosian Warrior
#16 Dexter Jettster
#17 Clone Trooper
#18 Zam Wesell
#19 Royal Guard (Coruscant Security)

Dexter Jettster was one of the best 2002 figs without a doubt. The Geonosian Warrior was also cool too. As for R2, he was just another of countless R2's so it was no big deal. The Zam Wesell figure was a very nice sculpt and full of detail, but she cannot stand without a figure base. I also noticed that neither this figure nor the sneak peak figure fits in her speeder so this fig was a definate dissappointment. The Royal Guard was a nice figure, but lost his menacing appeal thanks to the scale of the figure, and the sloppiness of his outfit. The figure was at attention, and did not have flowing robes that caused the undergarments to be shown in the movie. Then we come to Jango and Clone Trooper. The Jango Fett and Clone trooper have equally bad stances. The clonetrooper's gun never appeared in the movie, and I actually cut the string that was attatched to Jango's arm so he could stand without it. I guess I'm going to have to go with the Clone Trooper only because they made a neutral Clonetrooper and this figures detail was less than Jango's. I still like the Clonetrooper but this batch had some good figs and it was hard for me to narrow this one down.

Silent Chazz
02-27-2004, 08:56 AM
I'm going to have to vote for Zam Wesell in this round. Jaff, this R2 was not just another R2. This was the first (non-deluxe FX) 3 3/4 scale R2 with lights and sound. He also has a third leg! Also, Some people might think this is blasphemy, but I like this Clone Trooper more than the SA Clone Trooper. PM me if you want to know why I like this one better. OMG, Jaff, I did the same thing with my Jango! That string bothered me so off it went. lol

Dex was an awesome fig and still is. Geo warrior as well. I like the lone t4rooper and Jango Fett. R2 was cool with the FX and all. My vote goes to the Royal Guard. He comes with electricity, but when did he ever use it?

LusiferSam
02-27-2004, 01:54 PM
He also has a third leg!

So what? Most R2's in the modern line have three legs. Its harder to name an R2 with only two legs.

My vote's for the Royal Guard. There's little to no improvement over the POFT2 version, which sucked. I still think you can't do any better then the vintage version. And like kidhuman said, what's up with the electricity?

dr_evazan22
02-27-2004, 07:27 PM
For me it comes down to the Royal Guard and the Red Trooper. Both have thier merits, but both also have thier bad points. I'm going to vote for the Clone because I don't like his stance. At least the Guard is doing what he did in the movie.

Hellboy
02-27-2004, 08:42 PM
For the most part I like the figures in this wave quite a bit. Zam is actually my favorite of the group and is one of my favorite overall Saga figures because of her great articulation, a two piece magnet arm that actually works well, and even though she has an action feature it doesn't ruin the figure. Dex and the Geo Warrior were great and the Clonetrooper and Royal Guard were decent too. That leaves Jango Fett: Kamino Escape with my vote. I did like his removable helmet and the fact that his guns fit in his holsters but I didn't like his Missile-firing Jetpack and the string that represented his grappling hook. Add to that the figure's stance and overall lack of articulation and it adds up to just another so-so Jango IMO.

plasticfetish
02-28-2004, 12:24 AM
Jango Fett Kamino Escape - I really liked this figure for the most part. My favorite Jango of the bunch (which isn't saying much I suppose.) Removable helmet = good. Guns + holsters = good. The grappling hook is kind of hard to manage, but it's fun to display him hanging from it. The leg stance is lame, knee/ankle articulation would have been much better.
R2-D2 Coruscant Sentry - Nice looking and it makes funny noises. There's nothing wrong with that.
Geonosian Warrior - I don't know if I like this figure so much, or if it's just that I like the Geonosian character a whole bunch, and I'm willing to overlook any flaws. They're super bendy and it's a real pain in the thorax to get them to stand up or hold their weapon, but it looks cool and they're fun to play with.
Dexter Jettster - A nice toy. Good neutral version of a fairly cool looking alien. No complaints here.
Clone Trooper - is a good play friendly toy. I'm not a big fan of the leg stance, and there seems to be quality problems with most of them, but considering that I got mine on clearance... good enough. (I'm lucky enough to have the yellow version, and it seems to be made a lot nicer.)
Royal Guard (Coruscant Security) - Yeah, the "electro effect" goes in a box instantly. My only serious beef with this one, is that the paint used on the staff rubs off on the figure way too easily. Nice figure, but kind of cheesy... it was cool scoring a few of these on clearance.
Zam Wesell - Ahhhh, Zam. Zam Wesell gets my vote here. I don't own this one right now, so I can't rag on the quality of the figure, but it's got a button on its back and that's enough for me. It's a nice looking figure, and it's has some good articulation. The removable arm and the changeable face features are great, but the "quick draw" gimmick stinks. Action gimmicks mean forcing the kids to play with a toy in one particular way, and that means limiting their imagination, which means they'll eventually lose interest. I'd say that the number of these figures on clearance at my local going-out-of-business KB are a pretty good example of how doing something extra fancy to help sell a figure, doesn't help much at all. Who knows, maybe without the button, and with a slightly more neutral (sitting in the vehicle friendly) leg stance, these would have sold much better.

I'll choose Geonosian Warrior because I had some trouble with him standing up with those bird feet. At least with other figures, you can use a stand.

Dexter was well done, and R2 is cool with the lights and sounds. Royal Guard is an improvement in most ways over the POTF2 version. That sucks if Zam doesn't fit in the vehicle, but she has the changeling face and good detail and articulation. Jango has a lot of cool features and accessories. Clone Trooper could use a better pose. When I first got him, I thought the legs were deformed or something before I realized how he should be posed.

Who's your worst out of this batch: #13 Jango Fett Kamino Escape; #14 R2-D2 Coruscant Sentry; #15 Geonosian Warrior; #16 Dexter Jettster; #17 Clone Trooper; #18 Zam Wesell; #19 Royal Guard (Coruscant Security).

I just detested that #18 Zam Wesell with Projectile-Arm figure. The stupid "quick-draw" action feature did nothing but launch her forearm through the air! "Aaaah! Master Obi-Wan, she threw her arm at me!" "Save it, Anakin, you never know when you might need a spare forearm."

???????????? - We voted on what you listed about 200 posts ago! Maybe you should read what we're talking about currently before you post next time!

As we continue with our journey in the Saga line we come across the final group of figures that was made during the initial run.

So who's your worst out of the next group?:

#20 Saesee Tinn Jedi Master
#21 Nikto Jedi Master
#22 Anakin Skywalker Hangar duel
#23 Yoda Jedi Master
#24 Senator Jar Jar Binks
#25 Taun We
#26 Luminara Unduli

Out of this last group I liked Taun We the best. This figure was quite unique and looked good next to the other figs. Anakin would have to be my second favorite of this group because he was fairly neutral and looked well. However the rest of this group I did not like at all. I own them all, but really do not care if they are displayed or not. The nameless Nikto Jedi (anyone know his name) is really no big deal, and is just an unmovable statue (I don't collect unleashed figures, but for some reason Hasbro wanted this line to become just that!). Senator Jar Jar would have been a really neat figure if not for his ridiculous stance. He never looked like that in the film, and the new figure's look is laughable. Then there is Yoda, who is perhaps the third best figure of the group, but unless he has his lightsaber in his hands he does not look right, thus he is a statue too. Although I realize that allot of folks loved Luminara, I hated this figure because she is a perfect example as to how unleashed standards have invaded the 3 3/4 line. She is just a statue nothing less, however I will admit that she looks great in a diorama of the Arena battle. Otherwise she's poo poo. Then there is Sae See Tinn, and just like Plo Koon this figure was unnecessary, unleashafied, and under the standard of the previous Saesee figure which was made less than a year before this one. So he's gonna win the loser vote!

First off thanks for editing your post Jaff. :D

This round of figures was ok. I loved all the Jedi. I finally got Nikto , Kit and Saesee a few weeks ago on ebay.(got em for a buck each). I think they are pretty cool. I love the Luminara Figure. You are right though, it is more of a unleashed prototype. Taun We is nice. Always good to get some aliens. That leads me to JJB, the only figure I do not have from this bunch. He did look to dumb. I passed on this guy and have no intentions of getting him

Sorry guys, I fell asleep again. For the previous wave, I am going to vote for Zam Wessell . For the next wave, I am going to vote for Jar Jar Binks . I am not a JJB hater but I feel that this figure is boring.

I'm going with #26 Luminara Unduli. Once again, Hasbroken took what should have been a visually exciting, dynamic action figure, and turned it into a baked-crap-on-toast statue. And, because of some idiotic design flaw in the blister, I never found a single one of her figures that didn't have a bent lightsaber hilt. :frus: After seeing photos online of this character, I was really stoked for the action figure, but it turned out to be such a disappointment that I never even displayed the one I got--she went right into storage! Yeah, Saesee Tiin would be my second-worst choice for this wave, followed by Headwaiter-in-an-Indian-Restaurant Jar Jar.

I'm going with Anakin. I really hate this figure. Mine has a weak magnet in the right arm (unlike my Zam Wessell), so it barley stays on. The stupid action of the left arm broke the day after I bought this figure. The face is bad, the pose is bad, and the action features are bad. In fact I don't have anything good to say about this figure.

I'll vote Jar Jar for the sheer fact he's Jar Jar in a Dress! Still though, that Action Pose is awful.

While I'm not a fan of the posed figures either I wasn't as bothered by them as most of you are it seems. I was disappointed in Anakin Skywalker: Hanger Duel the most though. His right arm falls off, the dial on his back is huge, and you're unable to pose his left hand because of the stupid "action feature". In addition the sculpt seems to be lacking detail and comes off rather plain.

It's between Saesee Tiin and Jar Jar for me. Jar Jar is kind of an odd pose and did he really need the energy affect on his staff? I also don't care for the big energy affect for Saesee Tiin. I didn't mind Luminara even if she was a statue. Taun We was good. Nothing special about the Nikto, but it's okay. The Jedi 4 pack calls him Fi-Ek Sirch. Yoda is limited by his pose. I don't see the problem with Anakin's arm falling off. It's supposed to fall off to recreate his injury. He also looks fairly neutral.

I guess I'll pick Saesee Tiin since we already have him and Jar Jar gets picked on too much.

More from the sculptors running the toy line (or inmates running the asylum) way of doing things...

Saesee Tinn Jedi Master - What is up with the leg pose here? A decent looking figure with some decent arm articulation, but the crummy stance kills it.
Nikto Jedi Master - With the pose, plastic cloak and lack of arm articulation, this is a very difficult toy to play with. Falls into the, "I'll buy it on clearance" category.
Anakin Skywalker Hangar duel - I like the head sculpt, I hate the leg stance. I own two of this figure... one of them is put together very well and the other's a little less well built. The magnetic arm thing works great on the one, and poorly on the other. So, here's a good example of a figure that you either "got lucky" with or didn't. Completely random quality control standards... very typical for most of the stuff out at this time. For the most part I like this figure. The rotating wrist gimmick stinks though, it's a poorly engineered thing that'll probably break soon on mine. Without that gimmick, this Anakin would be much better.
Yoda Jedi Master - My favorite pencil topper to date. Good figure spoiled by the gimmick. Should have had leg articulation instead, and then it would have been great.
Senator Jar Jar Binks - Didn't buy it. No love, no hate, no care. This one in a more neutral pose and as a pack-in with a floating senate platform would have been cool.
Taun We - A good enough figure. Can't stand easily, and the one empty clone chamber is a lame accessory, but again, this was a good one to buy on clearance. (Really, this should have been a two-pack with Lama Su.)
Luminara Unduli - Awful figure. Such a lame forced pose with no decent articulation. The skirt is like some kind of brown plastic taco shell. A truly terrible toy. Form should follow function, and this one functions very poorly as a toy. Every time I read where someone's written, "Well, kids don't buy Star Wars toys anymore." I always think, Yeah... not after figures like Luminara Unduli they don't. This gets my vote.

I'm going to vote for JJB because I don't understand the way he is standing. My next choice though would be HD Ani.

After getting through the first waves of figures we come to the Deluxe figures. I still can remember how expensive the first night of Episode II toys. Man they came out with allot of stuff that day!

So Who's your worst out of the horrible deluxe figures:

Deluxe Darth Tyrannus
Deluxe Mace Windu
Deluxe Obi-Wan Kenobi
Deluxe Jango Fett

First of all these deluxe figures stink! Both Obi-Wan and Tyrannus' did not work, and the Mace Windu was so terribly UNLEASHED. Then there was Jango which was not so terrible. I'm gonna have to vote on the Tyrannus flipping action though. It's easy to sum him up: Magnet feet (can't stand without base), lightsaber attatched to his hand, looks like a hunchback when he's standing, and finally he was the first Dooku. Which means if you wanted him you had to buy him if you were a completist (or sucker, like me).

LusiferSam

I've got to agree with Jaff on this one. All of these figures sucked. And my vote's for Darth Tyrannus (what a dumb name). My reasons are all the same, so I won't repeat them.
But I have to say the Force Flip figures do work. It took me a lot of time and patience, but they do work. All three of mine I've gotten to flip and land standing up. This might have been cool of E1 where Obi-Wan and Darth Maul were truly do gymnastics.

I'll go with Tyrannus also, although it could have been just as easy to vote for the Ani or Obi Force flips.

Ok, I didnt buy a single one of these except Mace Windu. The only reason why I bought him is because it was the no peg holes in his feet variant. I did buy thew regular version but gave it to my stepson like 2 days later. All these figures looked horrible. I will go with Dooku, only becuase he was the last to warm the pegs in most stores I have seen

Silent Chazz

Put me down for Darth Tyrannus. All Force Flippers are evil but Dooku is the worst. Heck, they even sculpted the curve on the end of his hilt the wrong way! What crap.

Hellboy
03-02-2004, 07:54 PM
Well this vote is a toss up since they all sucked IMO. The worst were the Force Flipping figures though but its hard to say which was worse. I suppose I'll go with Darth Tyrannus in attempt to push us into the next wave quicker.

Mad Slanted Powers
03-02-2004, 08:37 PM
I'll go with Tyranus on this one because of the hunched over look. Jango looks cool with the removable armor. I haven't opened any of them to see how the action features work. I just got the Geonosis arena set, so I might open some of the deluxe figures to put with it.

Is anyone still getting e-mail reminders to these threads?

So Who's your worst out of the horrible deluxe figures: Deluxe Darth Tyranus; Deluxe Mace Windu; Deluxe Obi-Wan Kenobi; Deluxe Jango Fett.

Never bought the Obi-Wan, plus I can still find it, almost 2 years later now! Jango wasn't all that bad, either. Yup, Tyranus was a joke! From the lame lightsaber that had the pointed piece coming off the top instead of the bottom to the dumb idea of him dueling Anakin and Obi-Wan this way--never happened in the film!--the figure was a major step into the toy-let! Get it? Toy-let? Hel-lo? This thing on? :crazed:

Saga 3rd Wave: ROYAL GUARD
Almost as ugly as the POTF2 version. Finally bought it on clearance recently. The vintage guy still rulz!!

Personal highlights here are Dexter, Geo Warrior and R2-D2 (definetly my favorite Artoo fig to date).

Saga 4th Wave: JAR JAR SENATOR
Awful non-accurate stance. The guy looks like he needs to go the bathroom or something. A TRUE clearance Icon! A mention also to Luminara for the silly statuesque battle pose. How to kill a fig...

Taun We and (yes!) Nikto Jedi happen to be among my favorite Saga figs here.

Deluxe Wave:
Like kidhuman, but not for the same reason, I got Deluxe Mace only because I thought I'd jumped on a VERY rare red Battle Droid version... No chance in hell I will buy any other one of these, no matter how long they can pegwarm or how much they sell them. I'll trust the guys here and give another vote to DELUXE TYRANUS!
