Has anyone else played this game? My brother-in-law "offered" to babysit my kids last Friday night so I could take my wife out on a date. Turned out he just wanted to rent some games for my XBox. He got Hit and Run and I am totally hooked. Too bad I had to turn it back in last Wed., but it was great while I had it.

It's basically Vice City in Springfield. You get different vehicles (Homer's sedan, the Honor Roller, Duff Truck, Lard Lad donut truck, Lisa's Malibu Stacy 'Vette, etc.) and drive around knocking over objects, ramming other cars, and of course hitting pedestrians. Each level has X missions and X bonus things to do (street races, finding hidden trading cards, and for some reason blowing up these cameras disguised as wasps) and is set is a different part of Springfield. First level is Evergreen Terrace, Cletus' trailer park, and the Power Plant. Second level is downtown w/Moe's and the town square. Third level is the beach area with Mr. Burns' casino, the Squidport, and KrustyLu studios. The voices are from the original actors and it is just like an interactive episode. Really a lot of fun.

I've owned my XBox since XMas and haven't liked a game like this yet, not even Halo. Most of the missions seem to be the same: timed sequences to find stuff or blow up cars or beat someone else in a race.

With all the Simpsophiles on SSG I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this game yet. Anyone have input who've played it yet?

I rented it for the ps2 and i was somewhat impressed, but i have mixed feelings. Like, i did from what i saw, all the missions with homer, so there was like 10 missions for him and that's it? I assume there were other bonus missions around there that i didn't see. Also, i wasn't sure if you could go on and then go back and play as homer and find stuff he missed? Are there certain bonus missions per player or can anybody get them?!? So many questions!!!

All in all, i'd give this game a B+; great fun for any simpsons-ite! :D

Thanks for the reply. I think the first level (Homer) has something like 7-8 regular missions. Each level has at least one bonus mission and four races. For the level one bonus you go to the trailer park and find Cletus. You have to get these paper towel cardboard tubes and then go collect tomacco plants. It's not easy to find many of the bonus missions unless you know what to look for. The radar has little icons that tip you off where they are located. It took me until the third night of playing to figure it out.

The bonus missions are a little harder but they unlock other vehicles. Winning races 1-3 also unlocks a vehicle and race 4, with one of Fat Tony's goombahs, is a gambling race where you can triple your bet. Plus there are collectors cards hidden all over. If you get all cards from a particular level you unlock the multiplayer level. Collecting all the cards from each single player level unlocks another race track in multiplayer. It is kind of lame in that it is a replica of one of those 80's arcade slick track games by Atari. However if you get all 49 available cards (7 cards x 7 levels) and trade them in to comic book guy, it unlocks a special Itchy and Scratchy cartoon at the Aztec theater.

You can go back to other levels you've completed. The cool thing about this game is that if you get stuck on one mission, after x attempts it will let you skip it and go on to the next one. Each level lets you be a different character (L1=Homer, L2=Bart, L3=Lisa, L4=Marge, etc.) and you can buy changes of clothing to make each character look different. For Homer you can get the Stonecutter Chosen One costume, him in just tighty whities (shudder), and the muumuu when he's like 300 lbs. Bart has a ninja outfit and Lisa can dress up as a hockey goalie.

Some levels are so hard that what I did was go on to the next level, unlock a faster car, then use that car back on a easier level to win. I've found it almost impossible to win some races unless you have a cheat code or something.

From gamespot.com's description, it sounds like there are tons of hidden crap in this game. In one level you have to either read the cheat guide or else fall back-a$swards into one place to find a hidden vehicle: Knight Boat. :D

I'm really thinking about breaking my no-premo-$50-game-spending rule and get this one. Well, maybe when it goes on sale. ;)

The Simpsons Hit and Run is a great game!! A buddy of mine and I rented it a couple weeks ago. He's never really liked GTA, but he loved this one!!! We had a ball playing that all night long! And I'm not even quite sure exactly what it was about it . . . but it was really fun!

"Save me Jebus!"

*singing* "I am evil Homer . . . I am evil Homer!"

I love it when you crash with Bart and he says "Ouch, my coccyx" or "Oh, my ovaries." :D

Sounds like he's ripping off Beavis there. :p

Other than that, sounds like I'll have to check this game out.

Wouldn't that be:

BEAVIS: Aah! My liver, my liver!
BUTT-HEAD: No, lower dude.
BEAVIS: Oh yeah. (grabs crotch) My liver, my liver!!!

All the stuff the characters yell out are pretty much straight from the show, although they are recorded specifically for the video game.

Driving around with comic book guy in his gremlin/dart/pacer and with Skinner and Agnes in their crummy reliant K (nondescript sedan) is a total hoot. The whole time Agnes bags on Skinner and his driving and whenever you hit something in CBG's car he yells out something like "hellooo, this car is not equipped with deflector shields." :D

Good game. Frustrating at times, but it's still pretty fun.

All right! Finally got mine yesterday off ebay. Only cost $26+$5 shipping and took the weekend to get here. Damn, what a kick-A game!

Finally finished this game last night. The seventh level is pretty cool looking. I won't reveal exactly what it looks like but if you like the Treehouse of Horror episodes you'll like its look. It was actually pretty easy to beat because the last 4-5 missions are pretty much the same thing.

Maybe now I'll finally bust open something else like Splinter Cell or Ghost Recon.

It's a fun game, no doubts there, and I don't know about anyone else, but I seem to have lost interest in it rather quick.

I understand you there. Some of the missions are just damned hard that you almost have to get the upgrade car from the next level and go back to win. However, if you can figure out where the shortcuts are it does become a lot easier. I though I had the game figured out until after I beat the whole thing and then realized there were shortcuts I never found until afterward.

I picked this up at Costco last week for $17.99, and must concur: worth every penny! I'm only on level 2, but it's a blast so far! :D
