When we go to toy stores and discount superstores, we expect to find... empty shelves. :( When we go to antique shops, swap meets, and collectible stores, we expect to find... over-inflated prices for poor quality items. (Sorry, just a tad cynical) But what about those times when what you find wasn't expected at all, perhaps just something discarded, left on the ground, or in a place not known for selling such stuff? Tell us! (Or ignore this thread and go on with your superior lives... more cynicism)
I found a Micro Collecton figure just laying in the street near my house. It was around '83 or so, and I still have kneeling Luke in pilot outfit; odd pose for someone flying a ship.
At a hotel I once worked, I noticed a small item on the carpet in the hallways. Of course, it was a POTF2 Boba Fett rifle. What else would it have been?
While garage sale shopping several years back, I stopped at a house and noticed that the sheet underneath their old whatever items had a SW pattern, I asked if they'd sell the sheet, and while they were confused, they said sure. How 'bout $.50? they said. I said, okay. But since they couldn't find any coin change, I ended up being cheated for an even dollar.
At a comic book shop, I noticed they had an old paperbacks section, where books were $2 I believe. In this pile was a slightly-used copy of Once Upon a Galaxy, the ESB behind-the-scenes book. I snatched that one up, too.
You got any others, gentle readers?
