From AICN :

SciFi Channel's site states that it will be showing "an exclusive teaser of the new, four-hour miniseries Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars during the Season Eight premiere of Stargate SG-1, SCI FI Friday, July 9, at 9/8C!"

Other ChicagoScapers have reported that SciFi's website announced that the 2-part miniseries is gonna start airing on October 17, but I was unable to stumble across that page on their poorly designed website. (Earlier reports placed the airdate on 10/18, so Scifi might be moving it around as I write.)

I'm guessing one of you will think this is worth mentioning. It'd be fun to speculate about when this will be available on DVD. In time for Christmas would be fine by me.

Henson's site is generous in their gratitude to the fans of Farscape for being instrumental in making this happen. I think that anyone who is a fan of anything can afford a smile - another cult following got another taste of their beloved cancelled thing. Like Farscape or hate it, the fans were part of achieving something.

I think the whole fan-voice phenomenon is becoming very interesting and powerful, and regardless of what show or franchise you support, or which one's you loathe for that matter - us little folks doing our little things can actually have an effect on something important to us, like television programming. But it isn't stopping at obscure cult television shows - its now entering our political consciousness too. Feels to me like "your vote counts" is somewhat more meaningful and legitimate than it was, say, 25 years ago. We're all so much smarter now and well informed, and sometimes, organized. Active too, perhaps. I think this is an interesting time to be alive.

Well - enough of that philosophical tangent. Farscape fans have some eye-candy coming Friday 7/9. And new material to watch on October 17th, or so we think! Any fan of anything should celebrate this victory with us as a sign that they too can and will be victorious.

There's been some discussion of the return of Farscape in the TV forum. Though the latest news about when it will be shown isn't posted there yet. May want to consider dropping the news there, since it's where it belongs. :)

Jar Jar Binks

I just wish some company would make some Farscape minis, that would be so awesome. I couldn't picture Moya & various other spaceships in larger sizes.

Anyway, I saw the preview on Friday, it was too much tease, but I whooped & hollered none the less (especially because I didn't expect it).

you made me think when you stressed the fact that a group of fans was able to influence decisions about the fate of their beloved tv show.

Sure the possibility to let our voice to be heard is greatly helped by the internet, like in the case of Amina Lawal and Fatima Usman (the Nigerian girls who were saved from a death sentence also because of the protests of a lot of people through e-mail).

But on the other side I think the huge amount of uncontrolled information we can find on the net makes more difficult to discriminate the good from the bad and to create an opinion based on the knowledge of the source of the information.

Anyway, if the MM community was so lucky to be able to influence Hasbro ... :(
