While looking up "Jedi Healing" for needed refrence in my MSN Star Wars RP group,I came on a seriously messed up site. This person,I want to contact him/her but havent yet, actually thinks they own a Jedi Academy. No I kid you not,you can even donate and buy the materials needed for your training.

Check out the site : http://www.geocities.com/lancasterjidai/Page1.html

I'll admit that site is a little bit on the odd side of things in some ways (a Jedi LODGE?)......Well, I can understand being somewhat surprised by this, but its actually quite a common thing (believe it or not, it actually is). As "funny and odd" as it may seem, there are actually many people out there who believe in the Force (myself included. Yes, I said it, I'm far more prone to saying that a 'Force' controls the universe than does "the being whos name starts with G", though in many ways its all the same really. The belief that something controls everything is all it boils down to. I dont believe but I dont disbelieve, I believe in possibilities in many ways. I guess ones opinion on religion(s) just really dwells into how a person feels or believes any of them "jumped the gun" on the way things are and came to be so to say...but that all relates to who you are and your stance on things, and thats for the Rancor Pit). Now I cant say I belong to a "lodge" (thats the only real weird part about that, picking the word "lodge"? (That word seems to be more prone to a senior citizen veterans club or something than a group of people believing in the Force. Whatever.) But basically the way I figure it is that as long as they arent spreading hatred and intolerance for others, then what harm can come of it? At least they're peaceful, and yeah, it might seem as if they base most of their beliefs on something that came from a movie, but the whole Force-thing is actually strongly tied to the ancient Chinese religion of taoism more than anything. So in reality, believing in the Force is in many ways similar to saying "I'm a taoist", only not exactly that. Odd to some, yes. Sensible in theory? Depends on who you are :)

The internet was built by Star Trek geeks to be used by the Star Wars geeks. :) Geeks unite!

It was invented for computer geeks to share porn pictures with each other. So you're close...

Nope, that's a byproduct.

I remember pre-internet days, in '89 and '90, I was on the first government-funded network, Santa Monica's P.E.N. (Public Electronic Network), trading emails and doing the chat board thing, almost all the sci-fi talk was Trek and a LOT of that board was sci-fi fans. :p A few years later, when the internet was still just newsgroups before the Web was invented, tons of Trek newsgroups about every damn boring aspect of "did Spock just hide his emotions?" and stuff like that. Porn at that time was mostly confined to private BBSes, and we'd always flame any jerk who would come onto our networks and post his BBS phone number for porn pics (the invention of spam? ;)).

I'm old. :(

29, eh? Yeah, I guess I have a couple of years on you. I suddenly feel closer to 40 than I do to 30 even though I'm sitting right in the middle. sigh. :(
