View Full Version : Transitional Wave Carded Pics

Another website (http://starwars-force.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=001594) has carded pictures of these figures. It's in Japanese or Chinese so I have no idea what the forum is saying.

I'm looking forward to the Queen & Rabe myself

Padme Handmaiden was a constant fixture in the Top 10 of my Scene-by-Scene most-wanted figure never made before poll.

Is this Rabe an acceptable substitute?

Why Rabe instead of Padme (by name) anyway?

The Rabe figure PICTURED HERE (http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9066) does look a little too yellow versus orange, but it's the face sculpt that we need a tighter angle on. Can this figure replace Padme? Under most circumstances with the face close enough: YES.

I will still be out on the fence until I see a really good face close-up.

And finally, with this figure made, do you think Hasbro will make a formal figure of Padme Handmaiden (likely using this sculpt) afterall, or will this be as close as we ever get?

This is a "will they change a headsculpt and paint job" question?

By the way, why is her gun carded out of her hands while she's on a "in the scene" OTC card?

I realize they wanted to make her more "fun for kids" with a gun, and while the handmaidens probably wore blasters in their skirts , she'd probably look weird holding it in this scene on the Royal Starship. So should they have included a gun with her at all?

Kids aren't going to buy this figure most likely. Maybe girls more than boys.

Diorama builders like myself have use for (me?) 13 or more of these figures though, so they probably won't pegwarm. But not one of them will I be posing with a blaster. I don't care about that. It's all scene-filler to me, so I just need them. That's all.

How I'd use 12 Rabe Handmaiden Figures:

2 Handmaidens - when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan wipe out Security Droids "escorting them to camp 4" in Theed. The Jedi leap from a balcony over a nice column of Sio Bibble, Panaka, Black Travel Queen, Naboo RG's, Security Battle Droids, and I'll use 2 Handmaidens (as I'm keeping my group smaller, with 2 NRG's etc).

2 Handmaidens - Hanger fight #1 as the Jedi "free those pilots" and "[take] them to Coruscant."

2 Handmaidens - Royal Starship, while R2 and a bunch of droids save the ship

1 Handmaiden - as Padme, having that "still miss your mother" moment in the cabin.

1 Handmaiden - as Anakin comes to visit Padme, but encounters Queen Amidala in her red Senate gown.

2 Handmaidens - my 2nd Royal Starship, as Queen Purple Return to Naboo Gown (hopefully they make) flies home, 2 handmaidens flank her as she "needs JarJar Binks' help."

2 Handmaidens - Theed Celebration as the Queen (white gown) gives Boss Nass the Globe of Peace (like the keys to the city).

Anyway, somewhere I forget myself, as I thought I needed 13 Handmaidens. Maybe it was 14 actually, 2 more for Queen Jamilla from AOTC. I don't recall.

At least by those using the figure this way, I don't think she'll pegwarm - at least not in my area. I'll be spending nearly $60-70 on this figure alone.

It's a shame that it isn't a better figure!

09-01-2004, 01:59 PM
I'll just get two. There's no need for more.

09-01-2004, 02:06 PM
It's interesting that Yarua is the only one with a Republic insignia on the card.

09-01-2004, 02:17 PM
I agree with the you on the "it should have been Padme" thing, but we'll see when a close up picture shows up. I'm just glad they got around to making a figure of her. How hard is it to think that collectors will buy multiples of these handmaidens and therefore Hasbro would make money. Sometimes I dont understand the way they work.

I am going to buy at least 2 - 6 if I can find them. This figure will become the new Super Poseable Clone Trooper.

09-01-2004, 02:35 PM
Looks like a decent figure to me. I might have to buy two. I am not sure. One might do. Thanks for the link Tycho. Hopefully, we will start seeing her soon.

09-01-2004, 02:53 PM
Well I guess Amidala officially claimed Naboo, not the republic. I don't know, but maybe because of the celebration she is not shown with the "republic" insignia. I don't know.

Sly Moore and Yarua are kind of lame. I will still get them though.

The queen, Rabe, and Pablo Jill are awesome. I am looking forward to these.

I'm always happy with new figures of never-before-made characters!!

Jill and Sly are my favorites.

Yes, I am so glad to know that Rabé isn't from the battle. Why does she need a gun anyway? I will start by getting one and I might get more, but maybe Hasbro will do multiple heads using the same body, which would be great.

09-01-2004, 05:18 PM
All the pics of the new figures are cool. Now here's hoping that soon we will see the pics of Feltipern, Dannik and Myo.

Well, here's what happened to my Rabe post.

It was merged, and though I could have sworn I didn't see MM's post when I posted (because it wasn't there), I was only 2 minutes behind him in posting this news lol

It does suck that the figure isn't more orange in tone (Rabe), but she's good nevertheless.

As to the figure being the next SA Clone Trooper? Doubtful! She's not nearly the quality or the action-orientated style to handle that kind of mantle.

She just might be a real seller - that's all. People might want a handful of handmaidens. "Handful of Handmaidens" - get it? I am SO funny! :D

As to multiple heads? Hmmm. Maybe that is a good idea. I can't say I'd wait for them though. These figures will be background in my dioramas save for 1 time when the figure will really specifically need to be Padme for sure. If they can sculpt a future figure that looks more like Natalie (and we don't know that this figure does NOT yet), then I'm all for that. If not, it won't make a difference.

Very nice figures, an excellent job from hasbro I hope Hasbro releases more figures like these so the OTC can be a big serie.

Sorry, I didn't give you advance notice Tycho. Just trying to keep the boards as organized as I have time for. Nothing on you personally.

I'm looking forward to the Sabe fig as well. If she can be found in good numbers, I'll get somewhere in the range of 12-16 figs of her alone. Doubtful that Hasbro would make different ones. They all look enough alike anyway, so it doesn't matter to much to me.

Hey they could be clones...ha ha.

(Homage and poking fun at Tycho's theory that everyone is a clone in the SW Universe-just a joke Tycho, don't get your panties in a bunch...ha ha)

Nice to see that Hasbro finally used some of the $ they got back from their rehashes and made us some new figures. With that said, too bad they are from the Ep1 and 2.:frus:

Like droidekas2 said, I'm also very excited to see a wave of characters that have never been rendered in plastic before (sure we've seen Amidala, but it's a new outfit at least). I think they all look great, and am planning to get at least 5-6 of Rabé. Now that we know what she looks like, I'm happy to be able to cross off yet another figure from my long standing top 10 list.

09-01-2004, 10:33 PM
I am so very glad it's that handmaiden. I really didn't care who handmaiden it was (they all look pretty much alike), but the color scheme does look a little too light.
I'll definitely buy one of this and a Queen. I'll have to wait and see on the other 3. They don't look too impressive from those pics.

I was submitting as you were typing ;)

Count me in for the whole wave. However, I have not seen a lot of OTC action in my area. Seen VOTC wave 1 once - but nothing from the OTC line... :frus:

I'm with you aceguide. There's still plenty of Han and Obi-Wan VOTCs here. The first regular OTCs have started showing up, in very limited ammounts. I think maybe two cases went out, based on what was leftover. I lucked out on finding Dagobah, Luke, Ben and R2 and that's it.

Sweet goodness, you said 14 Rabe Handmaidens, right? ummmmm, no. Dude, you are talking about building a "Handmaiden" army, not exactly typical of most collectors, but okay. Geez, you don't have anything better to spend that extra $ on? I say just pick up a couple, 3 or 4 at the max. I know how you set up your dioramas but don't you think doing scene-by-scene is a little costly? None of my business, I know, but I sure would feel guilty coming home from the store with $70 worth of Rabes...

So, I'm looking at pictures of these figures carded (over at RS) and I've noticed that on the Queen Amidala cardback -- figure O5/#5 or "rabe" is labeled as "Dorme."

I cant believe I didnt see this thread when it first was put up. Nice figs.

Nice find PF, hopefully Hasbro will fix that before release.

That's what I'm looking forward too! I can't wait to expand the ol' cantina some more. I just wish they would make a band 6pack with bandmembers molded to hold their instruments, now.

I cant believe I didnt see this thread when it first was put up. Nice figs.Yeah... I had to dig back and find it. We should probably merge all of these not-OTC (nOTC?) black/silver card threads.

Turambar, there's another thread (two at this point) that have those pics.

Dannik and Feltipern have already been posted, and are in the current SW Insider (issue #78). Myo's on the cardbacks, but I tried enlarging him to no avail. I have no idea what he's supposed to be wearing in that picture.

All, in all, I'm really looking forward to seeing these figures. New characters will be a welcome reprieve from the long months of the same old faces and costumes (and foir the most part figures) in the HOF, OTC and VOTC figures (even though I've only found the ANH VOTC and have yet to see the Bespin OTC figures).

Best of all, these charcters are all pretty colorful compared to the endless range of the brown spectrum that seems to dominate the line.
