I heard about these before but words do this no justice at all. I will DEFINITELY buy this one. He's so darn cute.

I've said it before: Are Luke and Leia his tater tots or even his small fries. Ha, ha, ha.

Kind of like Plan 9 From Outer Space, so bad it's good.

I'll probably get one if it's cheap. Hey, it's a dopey looking Vader. How can you resist?

I think its kind of cool in a goofy looking way. If he came with other Star Wars related costume parts i would snatch one up, but as it is, im leaning towards picking one up anyways. Hopefully other parts, such as Stormtrooper armor will come available within the future.

Right you are, I just picked up two Spud Troopers today at Wal-Mart. One I released from his box, and he sits next too his Boss Darth Tater!

I was in TRU the other day and saw some Darth Tater keychains mixed in with the Galactic Hero Keychains. I thought it was pretty funny.

My wife swears she is going to get me the Spud Trooper once she finds it. The Darth Tater she got me for my birthday ended up in with the rest of the Potato Heads in my daughter's room. I've only seen the Spud Trooper once, but was gone by the next day.

Picked up Darth Tater back in June of last year for my wife, and got the Spud Trooper for her this Christmas. I think these are great.

bobafrett
01-04-2006, 10:28 PM
I would have bought a third SpudTrooper if they would have had one, one to keep boxed, and two two flank my Darth Tater. I should be able to find one hopefully soon since they seem to be hitting the shelves in the Midwest.

You know, as ridiculous as these are -they are a hit! People (collectors, kids, parents) love these things. I have both Taters so far. Took me forever to find a Spud Trooper as I gave a few away durring Christmas Toy Drives and then finally found one for myself.

I hear the next Potoato is going to be an R2-D2. Not sure how but we'll find out.

Tycho
01-07-2006, 12:27 AM
Of course: "With eyes and ears and funny hoses, you can stick them in so many noses!"

"It's Super Mr. Mouse Droid Tater, you can make a Mouse Droid Tater later..."

I've got to do some more work on the song lyrics, but you get the idea. Sniff. Sniff.:crazed:

Exclusive Target Corp. crap that didn't appear in the movies (Utopau Shadow Troopers, the "False-Neyo's" etc.)

I would definitely like to find both of the Star Wars Mr. Potato Heads for my kids. I think it is a great way to start brainwashing love for Star Wars into them.

At 14.00 a figure...neither do I. But I hope that nobody wants the Utapau Trooper or that Hasbro floods the pegs with them like they did the #41 SA clone, I intend to get a bunch of those.

Tycho
01-12-2006, 09:10 AM
The Utopau Shadow Trooper, a grey and black armored Clone, has been out already. While Target may have a back stock of these, I am wondering if you confused these with the regular (orange stripe) Clones that served under Cody and Kenobi in ROTS. These are regular wave figures and I suspect they will be shipped approximately 2 per case of 12, or something like that in the Geonosis or Coruscant waves (February or March).

In the current Wal-Mart flyer I noticed that Darth Tater and Spud Trooper have been re-released in a collectible tin set. The Vader comes with an different chest plate than the original release. Check out the website for a picture (http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5297458).

El Chuxter
11-07-2006, 11:58 AM
I saw that. It sort of ticks me off that, long after everyone got both of them, they're releasing them in a cool tin with an exclusive part. It's not going to get me to buy them again, though.

Costco also has an exclusive giant Darth Tater that comes with all three inside. At Comic-Con, it looked like it was going to be a cookie jar, but it turns out it's cheap transluscent plastic.

Kidhuman

I saw the extra piece too, but refuse to buy it just for that.

I got the Costco Darth Tater package set. It's pretty cool, even if it is just plastic.

Slicker

Yeah, I saw this set about a month or so ago. It's pretty sweet lookin and I may get it just for the tin.

JediTricks
11-07-2006, 07:19 PM
I don't have the spud trooper and I always felt like Darth Tater wasn't complete without the chest box, so if I see it I'll likely buy it.

bobafrett
11-09-2006, 02:41 PM
Sheesh, now not only do I want to get it because of the tin, now there is the Vader chest plate thing to give e one more reason to take another $15 out of my wallet. At least we have a whole endcap of them at my Wal-Mart!

JediTricks
11-09-2006, 04:19 PM
I was thinking about this, the reason I didn't get the Spudtrooper is because he seems REALLY blank without chest armor or something besides a helmet, and they didn't rectify that. So now I'm not as sure.

Non-SW related, but now that most of us have a Potato Head, I spotted accessory packs at WM for these things. They run about $4 and can transform your Potato Head into a pirate, wacky superstar, fireman, and even Santa Claus (Santa Spud), among others.

I'll wait until they get some Star Wars related accessories. :p

I doubt Hasbro would make it that easy for us, 'frett. They know collectors will buy another potato body just to get the clip-on accessories for each new SW character they make.

Has Artoo been released yet? I've been looking for it for a while now with no luck.

El Chuxter
12-03-2006, 11:24 AM
It came out a long time ago, actually. Like six months ago. :( I think the only people to actually receive are those who pre-ordered from hasbrotoyshop.com.

Costco is selling the set of three, so if you know of someone who might like the extra Spudtrooper and Tater, that's probably a cheaper bet than eBay.

I found Artoo Potatoo at Wal-Mart only one time.

One Time.

I have never seen them in stores, just online. They go about 9 bucks each plus shipping RB.

El Chuxter
12-03-2006, 05:07 PM
I had to pick up some photos at Costco, and they still have 2.5 grips of the 3-pack. It's $16.99. Like I said, if you know of a home for the other two figures, you can get Artoo and a massive Tater-shaped transluscent plastic figure/case for about what one Artoo would cost you online.

And, yes, **** Hasbro for this one. And for dodging the question about it this week.

$9.99 + shipping

$26.97 total if you buy 2, that's $13.50 each. Not too bad.

does anyone know if they are going to continue the line or if the 3 released is the end. I really like the line and would love to see other characters get the spud treatment.
Even if they release them the scale of the Galactic Heroes it would still be interesting to see what they could make.

Slicker
12-14-2006, 12:33 PM
I haven't heard of any others.

I think they should stop now anyways. It's a unique item and by making more it would water it down.

I caved in and bought the Tin with the Darth and his chest box variant and the Spud trooper.

So I have 3 Darth Taters, one in the tin, one in the box, and one opened, and 4 spudtroopers, 1 in the tin with the Darth Tater, 1 in the box, and 2 opened. Have yet to see the Artoo version.

Not sure if it could actually be considered a variant. But the Darth Tater in the tin, has a chest box on it, and it says so right on the package!
