In Insider #80, with the new Clone Wars on the cover, there's some interesting confirmations as far as the ROTS lines go.
*There will be three action figure series: Collection 1, Collection 2, and Action Series (or something like that). I assume that's this movie's take on deluxe figures (like that odd-looking Palpatine).
*There will be several small battle arena sets with two unique figures from the lightsaber duels. They can connect to each other. I'll bet that's where that hoodless Palpatine is from.
*There will be a Mustafar playset, and the little arenas can hook up to this.
*There will be three vehicle assortments (likely small, medium, and large).
*Attacktix are large figures on bases, with odd-sized accessories and/or body parts. It's like a card game - once a figure is knocked over, you use the powers listed on the bottom of its base. They had pictures of six figures: Wookiee Commando (with enormous blaster), Darth Vader (with large lightsaber), Chewbacca (with a huge pimp hand), Shaak Ti (with what looks like a water ball), General Grievous (with a doofy grappling hook gun), and Obi-Wan Kenobi (with a ginormous arm that shoots something). To me, they look dumb as hell. I'll definitely be passing on these.

The playsets and arenas sound good, I hope the figures aren't just retools of the versions we're getting in the basic line. I know we've heard most of this before, but it's always good to have confirmation.

Hear, hear! Sorry I can't post pics but those things are the ugliest sons of bi*ches I've ever seen. They look like Jedi Force to the extreme! Thanks to Hasbro for wasting time on another line I won't collect.

Are these worse than the EP1 Deluxe figures?

I just got my Insider in the mail today and had a chance to read it a little bit tonight and these things aren't that impressive. They look stupid and what I want to know is what the hell is Greivious (sp?) holding.

Amen to that brother.

The Chewie kinda reminds me of Ludacris from his new video that they constantly play on MTV. Tee hee.:D

Yeah, I have the issue as well but we can't risk scanning it and posting due to copyright violations.... (we've been told in the past about it).

Those things are Craptacular!

Problem is, when I get bored or am Jonesin for my SW fix and can't find any new stuff, I'll probably break down and get them...

I honestly cannot imagine who at Hasbro thought this was a good enough idea to pitch, and what they were smoking when they said yes to it. There's something downright unwholesome about these.

Those things are Craptacular!

Here, here!!!! These dumb things will be taking up room on shelves that would be better used for the standard product line.

I can see some fun being had "in theory", but my partner, who is not a hardcore fan, basically agrees with the lot of us. Good concept poor execution.

We should all get together and write a collective letter to Hasbro letting them know what of their Episode III product will sell and what won't. Surely the lot of us are much better at determining that than any of the goons they've got working for them. My hope is that they might actually listen to us this time ('us' not as in 'collectors' but as in the buying public. They always seem intent on separating collector's from the herd when just about anyone whos buys toys is a collector - even the kiddies!) and hopefully they will know not push crap like this to the buyers at Toy Fair. I can easily see these things being vastly over-ordered (I'm assuming that they see these things as the SW equivalent of Yu-Gi Oh or whatever fad junk it is that kids are buying today) and long clogging up the pegs preventing us from getting any new product afterwards that we actually want.

Of course, they won't listen to us anyway, but it's a delightful fiction. It's a pity, really. We all tried to warn Mattel about it's latest attempt at He-Man well before the figures hit and they never caught on to the fact that we actually do know what we are talking about until the line was cancelled. When will these toy companies ever learn?

Eep! Eep! Why you all in my ear? Talkin a whole buncha ish i aint trying to hear!

Those figures do remind me of the Ludacris video. Im not too thrilled with them but im thinking my younger brother, nephew, and even possibly niece will be digging them. They look a little too kiddyish for me, but i can easily see them playing with them. And what better way to recruit them into the religion that is Star Wars fandom?

The Attacktix figures look like cheesy Happy Meal toys!
