View Full Version : Why go hidden

I know there is an option to remain hidden while scouring the boards, but why would one choose to do so. Its not like anyone can contact you via the boards except for PM's. Just wondering.......

I do not get it either, but know this: We can still see you.

I believe only the Senators can see the invisible ones. It's our only super power. Unfortunately, it doesn't work when Sue Richards decides to take a stroll in the buff. :beard:

Well, I meant "we" as in KH and I. I still stand by the "we" thing, since it's only us mods in this thread so far.

Exactly, the powers that be are the powers that see. Beard:

back in the dark times I believe a few people were using it to avoid "him who is not to be named"

I would never use it, when I walk the roadway shakes anyways, can't hide a Titan ;)

I'm like James Bond, when I leave my post I don't want anybody to know it's coming and nobody will know where I've gone afterwards. It's all about ninja-like stealth (unless you're talking about the James Bond ninjas from "You Only Live Twice" where they dress in gray and use loud rifles with exploding rocket-propelled bullets and Sean Connery's clumsy hacking is supposed to be passable for highly-skilled martial arts).

So if you were a ninja-trained doctor fighting velociraptors, you would go hidden?

I always use invisible not so no one can contact me but cause I like to. I dont know if I use the option here but....

I care not for invisibility. Give me laser vision, or give me nothing.

So if you were a ninja-trained doctor fighting velociraptors, you would go hidden? It depends on how hidden everybody else is. Sometimes, one must hide in the light when all others are shadowed in darkness. Sometimes wearing a white labcoat is impossible to obscure. Sometimes one's Batman obsession can lead to smoke bombs which aren't as effective as initially expected. Sometimes the authors can leave a handlebar-mustache-wearing kid in the strip for no good reason except that they don't know how to pace or end their stories. ;)

how 'bout the power of flight, that do anything for ya? that's levitation, homes...

how 'bout the power to kill a yak... from 200 yards away... WITH MIND BULLETS!

El Chuxter

Or to cut guns in half with your mind? That's terribly mysterious.

Isn't it called "Lurking" ? Me, I'm just stupid cause I don't know how to use my massive computer, word process, cool avatar, or anything like that yet. It's tough going from a WebTV to a Mac G5. It's like flying a biplane, then trying to fly a space shuttle... duh

Ok, I think we know who not to let pilot any planes anytime soon. ;)

No, lurking is when you read the forums and never post, you can be hidden, not-hidden, logged in, or logged out. Hidden is when you're logged in and you post, but you hide your online status in your profile and keep your name off the "Who's Online" list.

Lurking is more along the lines of reading and not adding toi the "conversations"

seeing as we all read these posts after they've been posted the author may have slipped offline after posting i which case you'd be fooled into thinking they were hidden.

I myself like the cloaking device. of course it would only be of real advantage if there were a chat room facility at my disposal......

My guess is that option is for some people who don't want others to know that they spend an unbelievable amount of time on this site.

His name is El Chuxter not Buffalo Bill

Darth Jax
11-07-2009, 06:06 PM
and Jame Gumb's name wasn't Buffalo Bill either. Chux could be a sexually-confused serial killer being tracked by the FBI, with an assist from a incarcerated cannibalistic therapist.

or maybe i'm getting the real world and movies mixed up again.

Ah, English majors...:rolleyes:Actually, I am a business adminstration and social studies major... who teaches English (and yes, I am fully credentialed in English, just not through a university major program).

And BTW, I think 'hidden' is a funny sounding word.

Out side of being annoying to those who don't like hidden things, when you reveal yourself, if they have a bad ticker or diet or disposition, they could get a heart attack or stroke. And well, yeah, I'm just that evil it would amuse me.:twisted:
