I made a list like this a while ago, but I decided to update with a whole new thread and in the ROTS section. Below is a list of every basic figure that has either been released or confirmed by Hasbro/Kenner, more or less in order. I added the numbers to the actual list this time so it's easier to reference figures. And I don't know if the 500th Vader will be released before the next wave of basic figures, but it's on there. I included the Droids and Ewoks lines on the list (as they're on the back of 300th Boba Fett), but not the animated Clone Wars. If they're on the package for Vader, I'll modify the list to include them too.

I think if you're going to include the animated Ewoks and Droids line you should also include the animated Clone Wars line. You're also forgetting figures that were made from variations like on the Endor Rebel Soldier, Rebel Trooper, Imperial Officer and ROTS Royal Guard. Also the Red ARC and Battle Droid, though the Red Battle Droid could just be considered a repaint whereas the Red ARC is a different character.

Oh and you forgot OTC #38 Scanning Crew Trooper, it was a rehash but the previous figure was a pack-in so it's not rehash of a previously carded figure.

Other than that though, good list. :D

Hey this is a great list. Thanks. I ve been trying to put one together based on the back of the 300th figure Boba Fett box. Im glad that you got Boba Fett at 301 too. I was afraid I miscounted. I also wasnt sure how to count the OTC. Everyone said it was mostly re issues. I will add the clone wars regular figures to the list, but not the animated ones I think.

Great list! :)

Could someone add in the Deluxe and other "non-basic" figures that haven't been mere repacks of the basics? That would make for a "Definitive List" of action figures (unique figures regardless of original packaging) that I think everyone would benefit from, because when it comes down to it, after the bubble is gone, who really cares whether a figure was Basic, Deluxe, or otherwise. Right? :D

Good list, however, sneak preview figures aren't actually included when doing these lists, because they aren't counted as being single carded figures, also they aren't part of a specific line.

Good list, however, sneak preview figures aren't actually included when doing these lists, because they aren't counted as being single carded figures, also they aren't part of a specific line.

Thus the stupidity on Hasbro's part. What I mean is, why exclude some figures and include others? It makes absolutely no sense at all. A figure is a figure is a figure no matter what packaging it comes in. I haven't done an actual count myself, but I'm sure that we're actually in the neighborhood of 800 to 1000 unique action figures by now.

Going with that logic, Stilla, that would also need to include every single pack-in, deluxe and exclusive. That would be one heckuva list. Though I guess if you're going by unique versions then that would cut it down a ton. Ie: Battle Front Biker Scouts wouldn't count because they're the same as the POTJ Biker Scout just with a different accessory.

That would be one really huge list seeing as there are unique figures throughout exclusives, cinema scenes, multipacks, deluxe, vehicle and beast pack-ins...

One big question though- can Boba Fett be counted as a regular carded figure? He didn't come on a card at all, so going by all basic carded figures means he can't actually be counted. Ironic, ain't it? :p

How about Darth Vader (Death Star Hangar) somewhere between 463 and 468?

Great list, thanks.

You got it. :) One huge list. I just find it silly and unproductive to segregate the figures just because they came on a card or not. Makes little to no sense at all. It'd be like counting the Cheerios in the wax bag thing but not the ones that fall in between the bag and the inside of the box. They're all still Cheerios, just in different places. But once they're in your bowl, who gives a sh** where they lived before? :)

LOL on the Cheerios, but good point. You have the Jedi, clone trooper, droid 3 packs, Screen scenes, Cimea scenes, deluxe, preview, exclusives and what ever else there is out there. I would wager the same as stillakid and say 800-1000 different figures. Double that number if you count Cantina Han repacks.

But an impressive list none the less.

Great list for the basic single packaged figures. If you want the others listed, you should each take a section and do it. Such as Deluxe, Cinema, mail-ins, and previews, to name a few. It would build the list quickly. Then we could get a closer count. I'm not too woried about repacks, just each different figure. But the list so far is great, except for missing my 'Blue' Snaggletooth.:D

Hasbro/Kenner is considering just the basic figures as the actual collection of figures. mainly because they are the ones more people are buying and adding to their collection. deluxe figures, figures that come with vehicles or exclusives aren't part of the basic line. yes, they are figures, but they are not part of the basic figure list since some people might not buy them(myself for example, except for exclusives). deluxe figures seem to be more for army building or for recreating scenes from the movie.

since the 95 POTF colection came out, each line is seperated into diff. catergories. you got the basic line, deluxe line, exclusive line(vehicles counted to) and now the sneak preview line. if you check out any toy collector shop on the internet, each of those catergories are seperated. but in all fairness, it really doesn't matter how they list it, it goes by how the collector percieves it. it's their choice how to build their collection and count everything as one or seperate.

i just really go for the basic line and exclusives. and if i see a cool deluxe figure or vehicle, i will probally buy it, but the basic line comes first before anything. but these are just my thoughts on this, and as i said, it's up to the collector to decide how they want to complete their collection. if you want to add deluxe and other figure in the basic lineup, go ahead, who's gonna stop you?

This particular list was meant to only include the single carded basic figures (including of course the figures that aren't technically in the main line but claim to be - Boba Fett and Darth Vader). This excludes figures that were straight re-packs or slight variations - the Droids Boba Fett and A-wing Pilot aren't on there because they're repacks, but the Droids R2-D2 and C-3PO are because they're way different though they use the same mold.

I didn't list any OTC or HOF repacks of figures that were formerly pack-ins or part of a set, because they are still repacks nonetheless. I also didn't include any special figures on basic cards like Jorg Sacul or Holographic Emperor - they had to be released in stores at one point or another (the Hoth Leia wave and Wuher were exclusives to the Fan Club before TRU somehow got a hold of them, but they went on the list).

The AOTC and ROTS Sneak Preview figures are still figures. Jango, Clone, Zam, R3-T7, Grievous, Tion, Wookiee, and R4-G9 are all on the list because they were available in stores. Mace Windu was on a special packaging and not widely available, nor is he on the back of Boba's card (yes I know there are holes but there's a picture of how it would look with the whole filled in and there's no space for Mace).

As I explained before . . . I didn't include the Clone Wars animated line for now, but if Hasbro puts them on the list with Vader (if they even make a list), then I'll update my list to include them. The main reason it's not on there is because they were a different price from the main line and felt more like a line of "special" figures to me.

I may eventually make a list of "other" figures, but right now, this is just a list of basic figures. :)

Bottom line is if anyone wants to have every figure ever made for Star Wars along with all the other Star Wars collectables they would need Bill Gate's money. Sir Steve's money may buy some but probably not everything out there. Hasbro does not help those matter either with the "UNINTENTIONAL" figure variants they have out there.

Damn I need to hit the lottery!

The Bottom line is that everyone collects the way they want. So what the checklist includes or does not include is up to each of us. A more productive discussion here would just be to talk about this list as a base to start with, and what personal list would include or exclude.

My list will include more than this in someways. Mine include all of OTC, and will probably include Deluxe figures. Thought Im not sure yet. I like the cards I hang them on the wall. So I will collect each full collection.

I know your list is probably.......is definitely more accurate than Hasbro's, but I'm curious to know something. They list on the back of Boba Fett that Luke Skywalker is number 100. Han Solo in Carbonite is number 200. Boba Fett of course is number 300, and Darth Vader will be number 500, but who does that make number 400?

I couldn't agree with you more.

I commend Mr. JJL for posting this. It's always neat to look at a list of all the tos that have come down the track, though it sure is odd to see the list and realize that how many toys I got stashed away in the closet awaiting a bigger apartment :frus:

Going along with what StillaKid was bringing up, it'd be interesting to see how many figures long the list would get if included pack-ins /deluxe/exclusives/etc, but sorting what is included would definitely be in the eye of each individual collector. Although we'll leave that discussion for another thread...

See, I still don't quite get that point of view. Every figure means every figure. Granted, this list is entitled "Every Basic Figure," however besides the packaging, what really differentiates a "basic" carded figure from, say, George Sacul? Nothing. If you opened up Jorge, you'd have noticed that he is virtually identical in features to the other pilots. Most of the vehicle pack-ins have been the same as well, so we're not talking about a situation where every "non-basic" figure has some special gimmick or "deluxe" feature or something. Plus, we've seen plenty of examples of "basic" figures having "deluxe" action or other gimmicks included, so that isn't an argument either.

A figure is a figure is a figure. Excluding some from any list just because they didn't come packaged individually on a card doesn't make any sense. If I manage to find some time, I'll try to dig through the database to assemble this one definitive list. :) But I have to ask, JABBAJOHN, what was you method for putting together this Basic's list? SSG database or something else?

Good list. I also agree that if your going to count Droids and Ewoks (who counts this stuff any way :D ) you should also count the Clone Wars figures.

It makes me a little sad I give up at around 400  . But I'm not losing any sleep over it and in general am a much happier collector.

From the 1978 to 1998 figures, I used the Action Figure Archive, edited by Steve Sansweet. For the rest, I used RS's photo gallery because they have many different pages with many different lists.

Actually, they have Luke at 1, Carbonite Han at 100, Mara Jade at 200, and Boba at 300. Even though in reality Barriss Offee is 400, they'll likely go for another more well-known character that was released around the same time, so I'll guess they'll go for Anakin Skywalker (Secret Ceremony).

I think he counted droids and ewoks because Hasbro counts them. On the back of the 300th commemorative Boba Fett figure, it has a list of all 300 on the back, and it counts those guys.

Something's missing from the VINTAGE list:

I always count 102 because I count 'characters':

97 Blue SnaggleToothe
98 Max Rebo
99 Sy Snootles
100 Droopy McCool
101 Jabba the Hutt (obviously not a carded figure)
102 Salacious Crumb (Jabba's pack-in)

I think the Ewoks and Droids were conclusively vintage, while in modern times, Hasbro looks at the CW Animated Figures as a sub-line, as countable as "palm-talkers."

What was not counted are many great figures:

Figrin 'Dan (cantina band member)
B'Omar Monk
Oola w. Salacious Crumb
Muftak & Kabe
Spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi
Wedge Antilles
Labrina
Nabrum Leids
Takeel
Rystall
Lin Mie
Greeta
Spirit of Anakin Skywalker
Spirit of Master Yoda
Luke Bacta Tank
Amanaman

many more of the great ones....

But I commend JabbaJohnL for a terrific list and a LOT of effort!

The Wampa and Jabba can be considered beasts and not figures, which is one reason I dont agree with Tycho adding Jabba on the Vintage list.

When I counted my collection the last time, I put all the sentient beings in the "Figure" list and all the non-sentients in the "Beast" category. So aliens like Jabba are actually figures despite their size. To think otherwise is rather silly. Characters like the Rancor or Wampa are clearly just "animals" so they get the Beast label. Some are a little more difficult to decide, like Salacious Crumb for one. He appears to have some intelligence being that he seems to understand the English language, but he seems to be more pet-like. In the end, I think I called him a Figure and not a Beast. Mynocks are beasts. Dewbacks are beasts. The asteroid sock puppet is a beast. Amanaman is a figure just as much as Sy Snootles and the Droopy McCool band. The moral of the story is to forget the size and the packaging and give them all their just due. :)
