So what's going on here? Where were all these buyers when Maul and Jango were clogging up the pegs at my local Wal-Mart and KB Toys and Game Stop?

Seriously, you would think these things were Kotobukiya's or something! Why in the world would anyone pay that much money for these hunks of plastic, and sellers are still pushing the "perky" Padme' thing! Like that figure didn't sit on the shelves for months upon months! Is anyone really gullable enough to believe that line?

Don't get me wrong, I like the Unleashed line...for the most part, but wave one sucked big time, and they sat around on clearance forever. :crazed:

I just don't get it, but then I never understood why anyone would want to keep these packaged either.

Aren't there better things, i.e. high quality and better sculpted, to spend money on?

This is just bizarre! :crazed:

I cant believe that. That is outrageous. People are insane.

Hell, I stopped collecting the unleashed after the Dooku wave. I should just put all of them on Ebay and I'd get hundreds going by those prices. My Fett alone would get $100.

Wow, thats just crazy if you ask me. I've never understood why this line does so well on the secondary market. Aside from the second Vader and the first issue of Slave Leia I've never seen a shortage of Unleashed figures at retail. Heck you couldn't give away that first wave after six months of them sitting on the shelves. They even sold so poorly that Targets (in my area at least) lost faith in the line and stopped carrying them altogether. It wasn't until the card design changed that they actually gave the line another chance.

I don't understand the appeal of keeping these carded either. :stupid: Sure the new card design is nice to look at but without opening them how can you ever really appreciate them.

Now that I've started collecting Kotobukiya statues I'm starting to see the Unleashed line in a different light. I'm sure there are people who will say the comparison is unfair because of the price point but if someone were to ask me if I'd like 5 Unleashed figues or one Koto statue I'd take the Koto. For $15 the Unleashed figures are defintely a great value but I like the larger scale and more detailed look of the Koto's much much better.

I'm with Hellboy on this one. I like a few of the Uleashed figures, but I hav passed up as many as I have bought.

I have half a dozen Kotos and 3 more on preorder! They really are amazing. :D

I have a couple of the unleashed figures, wave 1 vader and the new grievous, and I like them actually....at least the ones that I have. It's funny too cause I was thinking of making a shelf of unleashed sith lords and I was looking on ebay for maul and dooku and saw how expensive they were. I mean 50 bucks for a sealed one, give me a break! I actually don't own any of the Kotos, I should take a look into those and check out Vader.

Holy cow. I like the unleashed, and in fact for the most part they have got better from the first "Maul" and "Jango" sets. I have all of them, and the ones I really like, I buy a second set to open. But I will not pay more than retail for the unleashed line.

There are a ton of Count Dooku's hanging around my local Wal-Marts! Along with Mace, Luke X-Wing and a few others.

The only reason why the first two waves of Unleashed are fetching that high is because they have never been repackaged on the newer Unleashed cards. Funny. Those were among the worst in the line, with the exception of Vader, and possibly Anakin.

How about all 13 waves for only $100 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2476&item=5969620307&rd=1). Apiece.
Another Boba for $79. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2476&item=5969092494&rd=1)
The perverts version (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50263&item=5969990964&rd=1) of "perky Padme".
Loose Yoda and Jango for $50. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=49013&item=5969359072&rd=1)

He did a good job with the sculpting (except for the incredibly thick shirt), but come on - get a life pal.
He really should put his abilities to better use and he might be able to make some real money.

....and Fett and Maul are so "rare" that I got them for $3.96 each at Target  . I think there are a few that could possibly be called rare (Slave Leia  and Helmetless Vader), but that tool had most of them listed as rare or very rare. He's obviously selling to people who want to "invest" (as if that's possible anymore) rather than those in the know who want a complete collection.

Ji'dai
04-22-2005, 02:32 PM
That Padme was done by spectre_l who posts over on the Spawn toy board. He really should've reworked the face, Hasbro's sculpt was very masculine. It was like Hasbro was doing Jennifer Garner rather than Natalie Portman.

Rocketboy
04-22-2005, 08:27 PM
I don't think the figure is that masculine (but it doesn't look like Natalie Portman though).
The pics he had on there made it look like she had a 5 O'clock shadow.

I agree why would you spend so much for one unleashed figure. Between Target, Wal-Mart, and TRU you can find most of them(recent ones). Also I usually go online to Entertainment Earth and buy them as a set, it may cost abour $60-65 with shipping which for an online store is pretty cheap. Why would I go online to E-bay and pay 40-100+ for a figure.

Fett is the only one I dont have that i would want, but i wouldnt pay more than the $15 shelf tag price for them. If they came with a quailty back drop or something i could see more reason for picking them up. YOU MUST however admit they are a step up from the previous 360 degree motion figures. ;)

Overpriced! I guess if someone wants it bad enough, more power to them. Personally, I would not bid that much for any of those items.

There was a vendor at C3 asking $75 for the stormie Unleashed. And I believe it sold, too. I paid $15 for mine at Target.

Another vendor had the AOTC Anakin Unleashed for sale. He kept raising the price on it. Thursday it was $15; Friday, $20; and $25 for Saturday and Sunday. I would've definitely bought it for $15, if I thought about it. Maybe even $20 (which is the most I've paid for any Unleashed -- Boba Fett from Suncoast), but I passed for $25. It was still sitting there for $25 Sunday afternoon when I left.

I've seen every single one of the Unleashed at retail with the exception of the Unmasked Vader and the Slave Leia's. I own nearly all of the others and had not a problem finding any of them. It's shocking that these things do so well on the secondary market, yet Hasblo pulled them *dead horse beating noise*. I bought Maul and Jango almost three years ago (October 25th, 2003. How do I remember that? That was the same day I got my awesome Pontiac Stunfire) for $8.....total. Whatever. And thanks to Slick and his knack for finding these things, I can admire my Boba Fett knowing someone else has to pay 10x retail!

Unleashed are very hard to get in some areas. I myself cannot find them. My Wal-Mart only carried the first wave with Maul and Jango and the EIII Wave. Thats it. My K-Mart had a few more and when we had a Kay-Bee they had some too. Never saw Slave Leia, Han, Vader removable helmet, Boba, Yoda, White clone. I had to drive an hour to get most of them. A wal-mart an hour away got one case of the Stormtrooper wave and he was long gone when I saw them. A freind who lives three states away found some of them for me two. So after all of that I am still missing, the White Clone, Stormtrooper, Yoda, Boba Fett, and Vader unmasked. Of course these are the untouchable ones on Ebay right now and they have been since they were released. I would hope that they would redo some of these in the new packaging as they did with Dooku and Windu and such.

I understand, I've fallen prey many times (I did get roped into getting married afterall:p ) but I can give you...err...I mean Rocketboy can give you a thousand links to REAL "boobies" for FREE! It's just an odd item, and I hope whoever shelled out a bill for it appreciates it for that and not the (disturbing) alternative.

BTW, watch the "t" word. I have a hunch a mod may clean that up. And welcome to the boards. Enjoy your stay.:)
