If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area and you want to get "in the know" on comic, sci-fi, anime, toy, and fan conventions in the area and across the entire state of Texas you need to be in Arlington on May 7th! If you love to attend conventions but often hear about them after they have come and gone, you owe it to yourself to attend Convention Awareness Day 2005! This event will be held at the Festival Marketplace Mall at Highway 360 and Highway 303 in Arlington from 12 PM to 3 PM and is held in conjunction with Free Comic Book Day. As of this moment eight different conventions will be represented at this unique event. Come out and meet the promoters and organizers of many of the states finest shows, get information on dates and locations, enter prize drawings and even buy tickets in advance! The following conventions have confirmed to attend:

AggieCon (College Station, TX), A-Kon (Dallas, TX), All-Con (Dallas, TX), ConDFW (Dallas, TX), FenCon (Dallas, TX), Metroplex Die-Cast & Collectibles Show (Dallas, TX), Sci-Fi Expo/Dallas ComiCon (Plano, TX), and Universal Collectibles Show (Hurst, TX)

Come out and be a part of this first annual event that fosters a sense of community in the DFW fan base and helps to promote the rich and diverse local convention scene!

I just wanted to bring this to the top again, it might get missed amid all of the Celebration III posts. Those who are familiar with the Dallas/Fort Worth area show scene may recognize the Sci-Fi Expo/Dallas ComiCon. The next Sci-Fi Expo will be held the following weekend in Plano! Guests for that show so far include Dave Prowse, Ray Park, Amy Allen, Temura Morrison, and Daniel Logan! Plus Dave Dorman! And in a surprising move this show features free admission, so show up early! The Dallas ComiCon in Richardson had one-hour plus lines to pay $5.00 per person to attend. Imagine the mayhem at a free admission show!

Be sure to visit Convention Awareness Day this weekend to meet the folks from this and seven other great conventions. Plus it's Free Comic Book Day (one of the available titles is a Star Wars comic from Dark Horse) and they will even have prize drawings, so be sure to enter to win a number of great items. Look for JediCole, Mrs. JediCole and even DingoDad (or Bubba Fatt, or Toymenator, or whatever he's going by these days)!
