Furuta Wave 3

Any news on these? I was reading posts all the way back to early 2003 and found several threads about these, all stating they would be released late this month. But no other details. I've seen the picture of the box, but does any know what other ships will be included? And what's the deal with those mini busts? I finally decided to go ahead and get the older ones for myself (only have the Defiant right now) and wanted to know if it would be cheaper to just buy the ones I want individually, or just get both sets? There are 5 I have to have, but about 3 more I would like to have. Also, would it be cheaper to get them off ebay, or from an actual site such as actionhq?

If anyone has any extras they'd be willing to sell me please send me a PM, I'm mostly interested in StarFleet ships.

They could be unveiled at the Japanese Shizuoka Hobby Show (may 12 - 15) as well as the Fine Molds ROTS kit(s).
You can also purchase them through J-List or HLJ.

I had a mail from Dora at Action HQ. The will have the Furuta serie 3 in stock in their HK shop in July.

Mostly? I only see 2 rehashes. I think the only one I want from that set is the runabout, which is good, because I finally got around to buying the first 2 waves(wave 1 should be here tomorrow or friday!). I hope the secret is the delta flyer, assuming there is one.

This is a great wave with great new ships like Crusher's ship (Pasteur) or the amazing Grissom ! It seems the Data bust has been dropped (good) but it may be the "secret" figure (not good...). We'll see. Anyway, I want them all.

The waves 3 & 4 of JL minis will not be out until jan-feb 2006 (...). A long wait.
Still nothing on Furuta's website.

Well, its not as good as the amazing Wave 2, but it would have been hard to top anyway. I'm fairly happy with the look of this wave, the Oberth Class is one of my favourite work horse star ships, as is the Olympic Class medical vessel. For me the wave is saved because of those ships. Kazon ship is a little random. Sick of bloody borg cubes. Runabout will be nice, but would have prefered another sort of shuttle from over the years, a TNG, Yoy or Shuttlepod from ENT. Will only like the Excellsior rehash if they've sorted the appalling mold for that ship, the Ent B was the big let down of the last wave. Warp ship is ok I suppose, bit different.

I'll certainly pre-order them as soon as they come on J-list as I'm loyal to these, so long as they keep bringing out decen ships.

Sorry - may have been a bit misleading - meant re-hashed in the sense that every bloddy one of them (with exception of the Phoenix) has been done by either Galoob, JL or Romando.

I'm getting sick of the owning the same 15 ships, just re moulded by some bugger else.

Would love to see some innovative manufacturer actually make some new ones - the new Klingon/Romulan ships in Enterprise spring to mind.

Even the new JL waves 3 & 4 are mostly bloody re-hashes or worse still battle damaged - flick a few spats of black paint on the saucer - and lo and behold - battle damage.

Got the alpha wave last week - all pretty nice except the Spock head that I can happily live without.

At last - a Phoenix - really nice piece and almost perfectly MM sized.

The Excelsior is by far the nicest MM sized version - even better that the old Galoob (and of similar size - much smaller that the 1st 2 waves of Furuta).

Orig Shuttle and Grissom also nice pieces.

Jesus these snuck up on me, they'd been threatening to release them for ages and then suddenly BAM! here they are on Britcits photo table.

I have to say though, they look a little lame, Wave 1 and 2 are some of my favourite elements of my whole collection, partly due to the fact they were nice and large, and now they go and pull a Rommando on us by going back to Micro size. I can't say I'm desperate to get these, although the Oberth Class does look decent, and it'd be nice to have a mini ship Phoenix.

Whens the second batch come out, anyone know?

They where $3.89 at this place. I hate that they're blind packed though. I really wish they'd stop doing that stuff, it's so annoying.

I think it's called "Mitsuwa" now BTW.

I mentioned it before, but there's also a Mitsuwa in Torrance on Western s. of the 405 and then there's Marukai n. of the 405 on Western and Artesia Blvd. (That's where I used to go before I moved away. :cry: ) There's also a few stores over in Costa Mesa, but that means going into the OC... (yuck.)

Got the alpha wave last week - all pretty nice except the Spock head that I can happily live without.I was thinking about this post when I found some of the alpha wave at our local japanese market the other day. Weird to find older stuff, but I was happy. Even more happy to pull a Galileo (my son's pick) as well as a Spock bust (the heaviest box has Spock.) It's a silly looking thing, but I like it!

I have both Waves 1 and 2 including the secret ships. Gotta say, a bit disappointed with the Ent-E, which is why I painted it :)

Wave 3 doesn't look too bad, but the only one I'm really interested in is the Phoenix. The others I already have from another manufacturer.
