Okay... I can't even tell you how many times I've picked up a voicemail where the first word out of the caller's mouth was "Ye-e-e-s-s-s-s-s..." I'm pretty confident that the last thing the caller heard before being able to leave a voicemail was NOT a "yes" or "no" question.
I'm also astounded how people will respond with a "Ye-e-e-s-s-s-s-s..." when I ask them how I may direct their call. "How may I direct your call?" is not a "yes" or "no" question!!!
Apparently, "Ye-e-e-s-s-s-s-s..." is the new "you know?" Americans who don't have a particularly good grasp on how to speak to other individuals or how to leave messages seem to immediately and inappropriately vomit this word. I chalk it up to further evidence that this country is getting dumber by the second. You know? ;)
