View Full Version : Oh, my ultimate toy room is almost complete...

I am about 90% done with the toy room and thought I'd take a few snaps of the results. This was easier than posting a bunch of pictures. The links will send you off to my Photobucket account in which the pictures have been stored.

That is excellent!!

But when I saw all the shelves together, all I could think was "EARTHQUAKE TEST!"
06-14-2005, 08:25 PM
That is quite the setup there, JP. Looks fantastic!!
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Not yet complete, young apprentice: you still need ROTS 45-47, don't ya?!?! Those damn figures that are eluding the entire state of Ohio!! ahhhhhhhhhh!!
very awesome setup though!

This looks great, I was also thinking, I hope no one jumps up and down in this room!

Awesome JP, great work.

This looks great, I was also thinking, I hope no one jumps up and down in this room!I've bumped into my figure shelf and had nearly all of them fall over I can only imagine someone jumping up and down.
BTW, looks really good JP. :D

You don't have kids, do you? I used to have all my stuff out, and displayed until the kids came along. Now all my stuff is packed in rubbermaid bins. But you have a nice dislpay though I am jealous. I would hate to be the person to dust off the shelves though.:D
06-15-2005, 11:50 AM
How do you dust them? I'd go nuts trying! :)
Looks awesome, JP! The Arena setup is particularly sweet.
06-16-2005, 12:34 PM
What, no Tortured Souls? ;)
Very cool. That Acklay is almost too big for the Arena playset. Nice use of the vintage Death Star, that's a cool playset. I'd hate to have to dust that setup, which is why I built enclosed display cases for my figs.

Awesome setup JP :)I liked the arena the best, had it up nice. I'm with the others,I'd hate to dust that. One wrong move and all the hard work comes tumbling down.

Sorry to temporairly hijack this thread JP but here are some pithy pictures of what my toy shelves look like. Notice the lack of continuity or themes but space is a limiting issue in my room so I do what I can with what I can.

It's great you've posted pictures of your collection.
I'm looking at them all a little bit at a time (I'm late leaving to see my Grandpa for father's day already - ooops!)
I'll comment about what I've seen so far:
ANH - the cantina / Tatooine stuff really stands out. Now I see that you've got a Death Star set, so that answered why the slant on all the sand ;)
Have you gotten rid of or stashed away older figures? I don't see your '95's etc. What became of those? No nostaglic factor? Did you ever get the Cantina Band Members? Momaw Nadon? You can't tell from this picture. A further-back shot would be cool. I like the way you've put them on the sand, included the bar sections, and arranged them. Please remember Lak Sivrak, too! - and I'm so glad they made R1-G4. He's THAT noticeable, though first you think it's a moisture vaporator...hehe.
AOTC - the first thing you think is "lotta lightsabers." Is this a birthday cake? Then you think, whoa...we better spread this out. They're a little crammed in there, but your collection looks a heck of a lot complete!
Death Star - I love the vintage playset myself. It was so much fun as a kid. Everyone should have the chance to get one of these again! Nice collection of Imperials to go with it! The Luke and Han Troopers stand out too.
Empire Strikes Back - nice collection. Nice job on Hasbro's part too. The Wampa Ice Cave, Bacta Tank, and Carbon Freezing Playset create a lot of highlights. The Cloud Car Pilot and Lando (POTJ) look good. I'm glad they made them. The Bounty Hunters stand out like you'd expect, also.
Geonosis Arena - That rocks! The playset and the Acklay make for a great centerscape with a lot of cool figures you can set up around them! I really like this one. Anakin on the Reek is a nice touch, as is the Nikto Jedi you posed like he's taking down the droid body that's molded into the playset. Nice creative touch there. The Nexu looks good too. Aayla's a sweet figure and your male Twi'lek Jedi from the 3-pack stands out too. I saw Coleman Trebor and Pablo Jill as well! I had to take down my Arena playset to get my kitchen table back and did so before I could add those 2 figures. It's nice to see how they would have looked.
The 13 member Jedi Council - looks great. It's ok you elaborated (Yarael Poof was dead when Shaak-Ti got on the Council) but you know that. It's cool they all fit. I've never assembled the whole Jedi Council yet for lack of room - but you made it look sweet! I saved a copy of your picture to my computer so I could look at your example any time I want to remember how that will look.
Mustafar 1&2 - I have my playset out and set up on my coffee table as well.
I didn't buy the combat sets that you added to the set. It makes it brighten it and look "happier rather than foreboding." You put Padme in lava! How dare you? I have her lying in the front entrance way, with R2 rolling towards her from the inside out, and 3PO going to help her. I have Anakin and Obi-Wan dueling out on those over hanging mining platforms as well. On the inside I added the Geonosian War Room 3-pack table (half of it) and put the Separatist figures in there "dead" with halved battle droids. It expands on what Hasbro already gave us.
Return of the Jedi # 1 - oh Jabba's! How could you not love Jabba's? So colorful and such a great collection. Probably the best in all Star Wars belong to Jabba's. You made Bubo the star in your piece IMO. He looks great in the center there. R2, Fett, Pote Snitkin, and Ephant Mon stand out as well. Jabba's rocks!
Return of the Jedi # 2 is crying out for a vintage Ewok Village Playset (or 2!) I didn't see Darth Maul, Snobi-Wan, or Quite-Gone in that movie. Looks like you hadn't decided on any other place to put them? Anyway, by your picture we can see Hasbro definitely has lagged terribly on giving us Ewoks!
Well I must go. But I'll look at the rest of your collection later. Nice pictures and thank you for sharing.

I had a lot of fun putting that together. I don't have kids... but the nephew and nieces who DO come over know it's "a museum" and they can only touch "if Uncle Dale gets it off of the display" for them.
As far as dusting goes... I have a nice little electric "air blower" (used for cleaning off computer keyboards and innards) that takes care of the problem.
I didn't collect most of the figures from the '95-'97 era because I thought they were pretty much poo. I DO still have my vintage figures but decided they looked a little too outta place with the more detailed ones.
I do have the cantina band members but no Lak Sivrak. I guess I need to get him. LOL
I just shoved the Jedi Council together without much regard to who was on the concil with whom. I don't even have them in their proper seats but it just looks pretty cool all put together and filled up like that.
All of the figures are on stands so they don't fall over. I made sure of that. I still have a load of shelf space and we all know there will be more toys coming down the pike, so... it's probably a good thing!
Thanks for the positive feedback... I am just happy to finally have the room almost done!
BTW-- Nice organised room there, LBC!!! It almost looks like you set up shop in a big way!!

You know Dale, looking back at your pictures, your rooms color is the same color of our foyer and hallways.Twilight Zone :crazed:
Just curious about the room, are you going to put up SW posters on free wall space to make it more "ultimate"? :)

JP, how much time did it take you to set-up your room like that? All scenes are very elaborate and nicely designed. Plus everything is out-of-the-package, unlike my room, which is more like 35-40% open, the rest of the stuff in boxes.
06-24-2005, 01:46 PM
Are some of those Jedi Council members customs? I don't remember Yarel Poof being released...
06-24-2005, 03:23 PM
I'm pretty sure Poof was released with the Jedi Council 3 packs over the last couple of years.

Your whole setup is sweet! Whenever my family and I move they said I can have a SW room . . . but it doesn't look like we'll be moving for a looooooong time so maybe I'll have to wait until I'm old enough for a place o' my own.
