After I won a CD six pack of new music, I began to think of other things that I had won during my 40 years here on Earth. Like I mentioned I won a CD six pack of new music which included Seether, the Offspring, Static X, Disturbed, and two others. Other things I have won that I can remember:

Radio Station call in contests:
Rush concert tickets
ZZ Top concert tickets
Black Crowes concert tickets
Coleco PacMan game

Fast Food:
Two Tusken Raider mugs
various food prizes

Various other contest winnings:
Obi Wan Kenobi mug (Star Wars fan club creativity contest 1980 or 81)
$100 worth of Star Wars figures on Hasbro's online contest 2 yrs ago

I'm sure I'll think of more that I didn't post. So what have you won during your lifetime?

Back in April I won a t-shirt in Hasbro's "Break the Emperor's Code" online game.

Last spring I won the Diamond Select Toys Hellboy trivia contest. I won three Hellboy plush dolls and an autographed theatrical poster signed by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, director Guillermo Del Toro, and actors Ron Perlman and Selma Blair.

Hasbro/Kenner had an online trivia contest years ago that I won as well. The contest would be scheduled at odd times during the day and I finally was able to play early one morning before work. I won a B'omarr Monk figure, which was the main prize and was the only way to get that figure at that time. (The Monk was later a mail-away figure offer; then appeared in the SAGA Deluxe set).

Oh, when I was a kid I won a Huffy bicycle from a grocery store's in-store contest. It was a great bike: black paint job, chain guard, racing placard with number mounted on the handlebars, and a banana seat. I was feeling sick though when we went to pick it up. I didn't want to leave the backseat of the car to get my picture taken with the bike in the store but they got me to do it. It's a gyp having the flu in summer. Such a waste.

Memories LOL, I won the game football of my home coming game that was signed by all the players and cheer leaders. Just so happens I broke my leg in that game.

I recently won a Devil Reject shirt. Seems all other things I won were small promo crap that was said to be a prize, but was really just free crap to anyone that was there at the time.

I also remember filling out a raffle ticket for a free month to Family Fitness. About 6 of my friends filled them out. A week later, I got a phone call saying I won, I was happy and crap and when I ran into my 6 friends they all had received the same call. All it was was a scam to get you in there to sign a contract. I was POed!

Dont blame ya for being PO'ed at that Turbo. That would have irked me to no end. How can they call it a contest if everyone wins?

I knew I was forgetting one. I won a bunch of football snacks, chips, dip, soda, pizza at a grocery store in Wisconsin. I was up visiting my brother in the Northwoods, and we stopped in the store, I filled out the ticket for a Packers football party snack pack, and I thought there was no way I would win. The next day I got a call at my brothers place telling me I had won. When I went to pick up my winnings, I told them I was a Bears fan.

Oh, and lest I forget the 2 liter of Lime Pepsi I won in the "Call Upon Yoda" game.

I had something similar to what you are talking about Turbo. A health club said I won a free day at the club, but they were handing them out to everyone to try to get you to sign up for a membership.

At my dad's company picnic when I was maybe 5-6 years old, my ticket came up for the semi-grand prize, a ten-speed bike. Well, considering I wasn't even tall enough to touch the handlebars, I asked if I could trade. So I took the SW Land of the Jawas playset. Most considered it a stupid move; I did not. Still have all the non-cardboard parts to it. :D

Won a "free" (you guys are right, not really free, since postage was needed) He-Man figure from some chocolate company.

Came in first place in a youth street chalk drawing contest (drew Roger Rabbit, after having been disqualified the previous year for my Spiderman using my own chalk colors  ) and won a local business gift certificate.

I won a couple raffles at my jobs (mugs, flower arrangements, shirts, gift certificates, books, etc.)

Fast foods contests (for "free" food, but never money).

Most I even got was $5 on a lottery ticket (not much luck on those).

aside from the usual fast food prizes, the best thing i ever won was a $100 gift certificate for tower records at a local radio station's promotion. the promoter said he would award it to the person who could show him the atm receipt with the lowest balance. this was during my poor starving student days so i really lucked out as i had only around $10 in the bank.

I wouldn't be ashamed to go see the Beach Boys. Good group, lots of great hits. Good driving music too. I wouldn't mind going to see Jimmy Buffet either, although I'm not a huge fan. I always see lots of great looking babes in the audience of those guys' televised concerts. Looks like one big rum-fueled party :crazed:

Jimmy Buffet was quite boring when I saw him actually. It was at NSG and in the middle of winter. Me and my friend actually left. Couldnt get into the tropical atmosphere when its freezing. Now if I were on a boat, it would have rocked.

And don't go to the "Margaritaville" in Sandusky, OH. It's a dive bar that plays Jimmy Buffet music. Oh, and since it's a "Margaritaville", they can charge $3.50 for a bottle of p**s warm Bud Light (which I got carded for :D ).

I wouldn't be ashamed to go see the Beach Boys.
I'm not ashamed (what's better than the Beach Boys on a hot July nite?), I just wish it were someone different. Instead of the $15 Beach Boy tix, why can't I win the $75 Velvet Revolver ones?!

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth I suppose :D

I won a brand new mountain bike from my local Little League Baseball raffle (you got entered into it if you sold a certain number of candy bars). It was later stolen from my brother who was "borrowing it."

I remember at my mother's company picnic they had a contest in where you had to guess the number of pieces of candy in a giant jar. Besides getting the jar, I also got some cavities.

At a stag party two years ago, I won the top prize (a CD player) and a bottle of Jack Daniels, but they made me give them both back, because it was for my brother's wedding and I set up the stag party and organized the prizes. I settled for an "Icehouse" backpack.

Guns, guns and more guns! Its really just two shot guns. A 20 gauge when I was 10 at a Green Wings (Duck Unlimited of kids) event. And a nice Winchester 12 gauge at Duck Unlimited dinner two years ago.

The 20 is a fun one to shoot because of it's report, but has a powerful kick. I still haven't shot the 12 yet. My dad has it in his gun save because I don't have a save place to keep it.

Tonights multi state lottery is $200 million dollars, I'm hoping to win that and get myself a bunch of new relatives! I have heard that people who have won aren't always happy. I've won a lot of concert tickets, MOTORHEAD, Dio, Iron Maiden and the like (oh and one for Rush doning 2112 which I had to miss, and a Helix show which I also couldn't attend)
A bunch of CDs (including the Jimi Hendrix BBC sessions)

Once, 200 quick-pick lottery tickets (took me like 3 hours to get the 20 bucks I won)

soundtrack to 300 miles to Graceland....

recently, a big-arsed "53" fridge magnet from "herbie won't Die" or whatever it was called (actually pretty fun)

and a big ol' crappily painted statue of a Unicorn, back in grade 6 IIRC

And I've won several miniature-painting contests- they stopped having them locally partially cos I kept sweeping the last few, unfortunately :beard:

And yesterday we won a dvd copy of "A Lot Like Love" (I think) as a runner-up prize on my fave local radio show playing "name that tune" - although Elf was on the line for that, as I had already called in to collect the real prize- I nearly ruined the show by cracking the host up so bad that he had to take a break to get it back together

Several years ago Target had a contest where you could win a Lego R2-D2. Whomever guessed closest to the total amount won the R2-D2. Needless to say I won it. It's pretty sweet. Thanx isn't really necessary. It was really easy to win. They had few entry forms, no pen or pencil, and my brother and I entered a lot. Plus we took took some entry forms home with us. It didn't come with the display case but I should've asked about it when I picked it up.

Any info anybody could provide, including an educated guess on it's worth, would be appreciated.

I just won a 157 piece industrial tool set plus work case! It is heavy and a great prize (from my building's x-mas party raffle). LOL - it also came with like 14 drill bits but the guy standing behind me won the power drill! I think Management was trying to say "Don't call us - fix your own place" with that prize. But they spent a lot on the gifts they gave from a month's pass to a massage paylor / spa to hundreds of dollars off rent, etc. as well as a bartender's set and all kinds of things. They said they were glad a guy won the tools. I have to say I'm happy with my prize. I've never really won anything before that I recollect and I know this would be the most expensive prize if there were more.

As for me I rarely play the loterry here for some reason. Back home I'd play at least $50 a week and sometimes more.

And speaking of the lottery, how about those 8 in NE that won that $365 million jackpot? The sad part is that each of them get $15.5 million apiece. Yes that's alot of money but multiply 8x15 and you get $124 million. That always pi55es me off when these people win this big arse jackpot and the government takes 2/3 of it. I realize taxes and all but the government didn't put in that dollar to win the money. I just never thought that was fair.

And please don't make this thread pit material over this comment. If it's deemed like it's gonna go there just edit this out.

I never won anything ever

Have you ever tried to win anything? I find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't win anything. I may have not won a trip to Alaska, or the million dollar jackpot, but I have won quite a nice collection of cool stuff, Star WArs mugs, concert tickets, smaller lottery prizes, and like I posted above, most recently I won a cell phone. All of these came with being persistant.

no not really, I dont gamble cause I dont think I have enough money to spare to do so. I maybe won like $1 or so on scratch offs but thats of no real value, since its the same amount I put into it. I never won anything though.

Yes, but much of what I have won has been free. I won tickets to see Rush, the Black Crowes, ZZ Top and others just by being the correct caller to a radio station. The cell phone I won through entering codes underneath the caps on Pepsi products, and I drink that stuff either way. I won $100.00 worth of toys from Hasbro a few years back just by trying once a day through the online contest they had. I won two Tusken Raider Mugs through Taco Bell by filling out entry forms and mailing them in. I won an Obi Wan Kenobi mug through the old Star Wars Bantha Tracks creativity contest.

It's not all about gambling, I mean I probably have lost more then I have won through the lottery, but when I win, it makes it exciting even if it's just for a few brief moments.

My most sincere thanks go out to ALL the Midwest Garrison members who participated in the nomination and voting process.

I work for dish network doing tech support. I am in advanced tech which means I deal with High Definition technical and sales of the equipment. HBO, SHO, Starz and other companies always have incentives for selling their products, so when people want HD, I usually sell their products too for the HD channels, so I get whatever incentive they are running at the time. This month Shotwtime was running a 5 dollar gift card for every showtime sale you had. Also for each sale, they usually enter you into a raffle for other things(II have won Ipod, Portable DVD player, DIgital Camera, BBQ utensils and other stuff).

Wow, today on the radio WLUP 97.9 had a contest which they have everyday of the week. Each week they give out different prize packages, from concert tickets, to Cubs or Sox tickets, etc. At 10 am, after the morning show, they play 10 songs in a row, after they play those 10, the 15th caller is asked what were the first three songs in that 10 in a row. The caller with the correct answer, wins that weeks prize. This week was a 4 DVD pack, with "Scary Movie 4" being one of the DVD's. They didn't tell me the other three. Oh, yes, and I WON! I'm a winner! Yahoo!

Okay, so today I'm at work listening to the radio station called "the Loop" 97.9 WLUP here in Chicago. I'm building a bike, and after the morning D.J. ends his shift at 10, they have 10 songs in a row. The mid shift D.J., Erin Carmen, gives you three clues for the days category, and you have to guess what the item is, as well as give the three clues. Today's category was T.V. show, and the three clues were sitcom, Chicago, and Bundy. I had the answer, and I was debating on calling since the prize is a concert, on my Birthday. I decided to call in, and I was fumbling with my cell phone, kept passing by the pre set phone number for the station. I finally got it, and the phone immediately starts ringing. Then Erin picks up the phone, and I started trembling. I was the 15th caller, and I had to repeat the three clues, plus have the correct answer, which was "Married with Children". I won a pair of tickets to see "Kid Rock" at the Sears center in Hoffman estates. The concert just happens to be on my birthday, May 23rd. One prize winner this week, gets to go backstage and meet kid rock, and have their picture taken with him. Freaking awesome. I'm not a huge Kid Rock fan, but I will enjoy the show. (I hope)

I have been low on cash, and slightly behind on my bills, then to top it off, my car blew it's power steering pressure hose, so I just paid $180.00 to have that repaired. I was feeling like I was going to fall apart finacially this month. I had to stop at a 7-eleven this morning to get my son some lunch money, plus cash to repay my wife for the money she lent me for the car repairs. I bought my son a coffee and decided to get one of my favorite scratch tickets. Low and behold, I was a winner! That will ease the pain a little.

I could take 7 other people with me, so I gathered up some of my friends. we loaded down the limo with "refreshments" and headed on up to the Ft. Randall Casino. It was a good trip. I actually left the place with more money than when I went in.

back in 1983, I won the soundtrack (on vinyl) for Return of the Jedi, as well as 2 tickets to see the movie from a local record store

I usually win my money back when trying my luck at the scratch-off tickets, but one time I did win the maximum prize of $444
it was just $6 short of paying my rent that month

but that was a long time ago, in a place far far away

Sometimes it's here and there, other times When money was better and more around my pockets, I would buy a couple tickets in a day. I have to set a limit, because in the past I have gotten down thirty dollars, and thought that if I bought more tickets, I might win my money back, and then I go down $50. The worst was when I bought $100 bucks worth of tickets, and had one winner in all those tickets, for $5.00. So now I just say, I can spend X amount today, and if I don't win, then I'm done.

Did get a nifty lime green participation ribbon, though! :yes:The actual trophy is (was?) at the Playhouse office, but all four of us would have to share it to keep it. Hell Yeah, free money can buy things! That's why I like it. Our state is having a St. Patrick's day, millionaires raffle. 4 people will a million dollars, then like 10 will win $100,000 and I think like 100 people will win $1,000. I bought a ticket for $20. There are only 50,000 tickets sold. We had a few winners in our area last year.

That seems more reasonable. With the previous number you listed (50,000 tickets total) you could of theoretically have bought all the tickets for $1,000,000 and made a $3,100,000 profit.

They really get you in on taxes. My wifes grandmother went on Ohio Cash Explosion 4 years ago and won 32,000. She only netted around 18,000.

The week before I thought I had the same fortune. I saw the numbers and knew I had 5 of them. I got real excited. Problem was when I looked on the ticket the numbers were on 3 different lines. $10,000 to 2 bucks that quick.

So I proceeded to pay two of my credit cards, one online, and another by check, I put gas in my car, and my day is rolling right along. Then I come home, ready to take my wife out to dinner, check my account to see if the online autorization had gone through, and I find the check back on hold. Now my checking balance is negative, I am furious, so I call the bank to find out WTF is going on, and scream at the lady at the other end. I ended up talking with her supervisor, and he tells me that Federal Regulations, blah, blah, blah, and that they needed a contact number for the bank that issued the check, again, WTF.
