From, http://www.rebelscum.com/article.asp?i=93813

As officially announced yesterday, the Saga Collection will focus on characters from across the entire Star Wars saga, and include all 6 films in the series.

Each wave of action figures will be focused on a classic battle, and include the iconic characters. Look for 56 figures, split into 8 waves, and as an added bonus, each figure will inlcude a bonus holographic mini figure. The waves are as follows:

Battle of Carkoon from Episode VI will include 6 figures
Battle of Hoth from Episode V will include 8 figures
Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures
Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures
Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV will include 7 figures
Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures
Battle of Naboo from Episode I will include 8 figures
Battle of Death Star from Episode IV will include 6 figures

Which figures will make up each wave? Not much is known just yet, but we already reported that Battle of Carkoon will include Leia as Boushh, Han Solo in Carbonite, Bib Fortuna, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, and Barada with a mix of all-new sculpts, repacks, and repaints. Plus, we've seen from the Hasbro presentation yesterday that Battle of Tatooine will include a repainted Sandtrooper based on the sample shown.

I didn't know they were gonna be making that many different figures. I would hope that the majority of these figs are indeed figures that have never been released before. That'll really get this line moving off the shelves.

For the Prequel Battle Waves I'd like,

Battle of Naboo

Daultay Dofine
Tey How
New Rune Haako (more articulation w/ Neimoidian Walking Hologram Projector)
New Nute Gunray (more articulation w/ Neimoidian Walking Chair)
Droideka (transformable w/ shield bubble)
Battle Droid Captain/Commander (with mini Nute & Rune Holograms)
Darth Maul Hologram
Nute Gunray Hologram

Battle of Coruscant

Anakin Skywalker : Yellow Leader Pilot
Commander Odd Ball
Battle Droid : Pilot
Battle Droid : Security
Lushros Dofine : Invisible Hand Captain
Super Articulated General Grievous

Battle of Geonosis

Po Nudo
Tikkes
Denaria Kee
Lott Dod / Gilramos Libkath
Neimoidian Ground Crewman (both versions, a variation)
Commander Battle Droid (sand redish color)
Super Articulated Super Battle Droid

And you guys?

We definately need a regular TPM OOM-9, and mini holo Nute and Rune would be perfect. Holo Sidious in Mechno-Projector and TPM Nute in Mechno chair are a must as well. Battle droid pilot is long overdue as well, but since there were more of them in ROTS there is hope for that. Tey How and DAULTEY DOFINE! (I guess I just like the Trade Federation)

I am afraid that most figures in some of the waves (Death Star, Hoth) will be repaints and repacks instead of resculpts and new figures. This may not be a bad thing though, Hasbro needs to keep the kids that started collecting with ROTS to stay onboard. Because of this I have trouble believing that this is a "collector" year from Hasbro.

Im hoping that Hasbro gives us a great 2 for 1, and makes in the DS wave a DSII Jedi Luke, and uses that same figure in the Battle of Endor wave, unless the Battle of the Death Star wave is just the first death star, and not the second, therefore what I just said wouldnt mean jack s**t...lol :)

How did I know you were thinking that ROTJ Luke?? :p

I wouldnt mind a nice mix of good resculpts and new figures. My guess is if they are making new sculpts for Jabbas palace, then why not the rest of them.

JabbaJohn I like your choices...except for Saga Hoth Trooper - have you forgotten how utterly crap that figure was in every conceivable way?? He was easily the biggest waste of a resculpt we've ever had and needs to be rereleased like we all need punctured rectums. I demand a resculpt of the resculpt.

I agree Devo, I would like a new Hoth Soldier with SA on him.

ere's what I'd like to see:

Battle of Hoth from Episode V
1. Torryn Farr
2. Major Derlin
3. Generic Deck Officer
4. General Veers (with removable armor & head swap w/hat) and mini Holo Vader
5. SA Snowtrooper
6. Han with soft goods HOOD! (Can make both Blue and Brown coat versions)
7. SA AT-AT Driver
8. Captain Piett (Gray Imperial uniform and correct rank)

Battle of Coruscant from Episode III
1. SA Mace
2. Anakin/Vader with Hood UP!
3. Cin Drallig
4. Padawan (the one who talks to Anakin or any generic one)
5. Shocktrooper (you just know he's going to be HTF)
6. Spec Ops Trooper (I know there are some who want this single carded)

Battle of Geonosis from Episode II
1. Red Battle Droid
2. Red Officer Battle Droid
3. Super Battle Droid
4. SA White Clone
5. SA Yellow Clone
6. Bultar Swan (Oriental Jedi)
7. BARRISS OFFEE!!!
NOTE: All super and regular battle droids would be produced in higher grade firmer plastic so that they won't fall under their own weight!

Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV (What Battle???)
1. NEW R5-D4!!!
2. Jawa 2-pack with Tall Jawa (the one with light tan and brown robes) and throw in any other previously made Jawa.
3. Biggs-Deleted scene
4. Any unmade droid from "Purchase of the droid" scene not yet made, or any Lars homestead droid not yet made. There are several to choose from
5. Same as #4
6. YELLOW R5-D4 seen in Mos Eisley (Hey, guess what Hasbro, you can use the same new mold just repaint it...)
7. Tonnika sister (she's been said to be up for discussion)

Battle of Endor from Episode VI
1. SA Imperial Trooper (Black Helmet)
2. SA Biker Scout
3. SA AT-ST driver
4. Rebel Trooper (with big bushy blonde beard)
5. SA Imperial officer ("You rebel scum" dude)
6. Chief Chirpa
7. Mother Ewok with Wokling
8. Any other major Ewok as yet unproduced

Battle of Naboo from Episode I
1. SA Naboo Royal Guard (the ones in teh red outfits and silverish helmets)
2. Pilot Battle Droid
3. Better articulated Nute Gunray with walking chair
4. Better articulated Run Haako with Holo sidious walking chair
5. As yet unproduced variant Handmaiden
6. SA Qui-gon
7. SA Obi-wan
8. SA Darth Maul

Battle of Death Star from Episode IV
1. African American X-wing pilot
2. Oriental rebel pilot (Y-wing?)
3. CORRECT HUMAN B-wing pilot!!!
4. Moff Jerjerrod
5. The Imperial Dignitary that was a vintage that hasn't been made as a modern fig yet...(Sorry can't remember his name)
6. Red Royal Guard (use ROTS mold here) He was HTF for many people)

Okay, so that gives Hasbro some reissues, enough of them use parts from some already made or ARE exact reissues.

Examples of exact reissues are:
Shocktrooper
Spec Ops Trooper
Red Battle Droid (remember just better stiffer plastic)
Red Officer Battle Droid (remember just better stiffer plastic)
Super Battle Droid (remember just better stiffer plastic)
SA White Clone
SA Yellow Clone
One of the Jawas
Once they make the R5 unit, just repaint for the yellow one
Pilot Battle droid (remember just better stiffer plastic)
Red Royal Guard

Ones that use parts of prexhisting molds are:
Torryn Farr-Leia Hoth, but with different head. (Heck use a Leia with side buns head and shave down the chin a little)
Major Derlin-parts from deluxe Luke
Generic Deck Officer-same as Derlin with slightly different paint app and head swap
General Veers-use Admiral Ozzel, but greenish uniform with Veers head (with hat on), then just need armor and helmet. May need to retool the legs, since he's taller than Ozzel
Captain Piett-Use Admiral Ozzel, just different head
Anakin/Vader with Hood UP-Heck, use any various Ep3 Anakin's out there, just make him with a outer robe hood up! (Either not so rigid plastic OR soft goods)
Rebel Trooper-Use same mold as pervous, just different head
African American X-wing pilot-use the "bucktooth X-wing Luke, just different head
Oriental rebel pilot (Y-wing?)same as above, but different paint app, head and helmet (removable please)
Moff Jerjerrod-Admiral Ozzel again, but greenish uniform, with head swap for Jerjerrod

So out of 50 figs, they would have 12 exact reissues and 9 with some reuseable parts. That's a smidge more than 2/5 of the figs that they would SAVE money on!!!

Devo, I suppose the Hoth Trooper was pretty bad, but if they changed the head it might be at least a little bit better.

I personally don't think a new head would make it any better. My main issue with him is his ridiculous shortness and the fact that he is pretty much pre-posed exactly the same as the older figure - why did they bother at all? All the new figure has over the old one is that the tunic and gun holster aren't sculpted onto the legs. Articulation-wise he can't do anything the older figure couldn't and at least the older figure was taller than princess Leia. No I think he needs a complete resculpt...again....and vitally he needs to be able to hold and aim his gun with two hands.

The "battle of Tatooine" could refer to the Star destroyer capturing the Tantive IV and have some figures from those scenes (probably rehashes though we could do with at least one new figure like the black uniformed officer who argues with Vader). Then again they might aswell call that the 'Tantive IV' wave. However considering we're getting a sandtrooper repaint it seems likely that the tatooine wave will consist of random characters seen on that planet - I assume from ANH but whats to stop them putting in some TPM or AOTC figures in this wave? R5-D4 was hardly involved in any "tatooine" battle but if he's in it why wouldn't Cliegg Lars also qualify? (not that I expect them to make Cliegg Lars any time soon)

When the hell was there ever a battle on Tatooine in ANH? Is this another of Lucas' reshoots? The only battle that I can think of is when the Falcon is trying to take off which would mean that we'd get another Han which would in turn mean yet another Cantina Han.

Looking at our list we made with a lot of care and hard work from members of this site and with our knowledge of the first 6 figures from the Carkoon wave, it doesn't look good for Jabbas. We're getting:

Leia Boussh
Han Carbonite
Bib Fortuna
Barada
Boba Fett
Chewie in Chains

We asked for:

Herme Odel
Yarna dal Gargon
R2D2 Lightsaber Launcher
Sgt. Doallyn
Woof (vintage Klaatu)

5 was it, but many of us here had sought a new Leia Boussh more than anything else Hasbro is offering.

But we knew the core characters (Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, Vader, Trooper, R2, C-3PO, Obi-Wan, Lando, Yoda, Palpatine, etc. would have to show up as the lack of Anakin figures amongst the E3 figures now, has severely slowed down the turnover and "accessorizing of Anakin" with other figures the purchase of a core character might prompt.

Anyway, I just thought to put it out for the record, if we got our way...

Battle of Hoth from Episode V will include 8 figures - not all of these are Hoth, but it is the ONLY Empire Strikes Back wave for 2006. (2004 saw Bespin and Dagobah, so...)

General Veers - Imperial leader - AND HOTH
Lando Smuggler - Core Character
Han Bespin Torture - Core Character
Torynn Farr - Rebel - ALSO HOTH
Major Derlin - Rebel leader - DEFINITELY HOTH
Luke Medical Frigate - Core Character - could be HOTH, (see Wampa recovery)
Treva Horme - alien (but Cloud City)
Black Bespin Guard - vintage needing re-doing for modern line.

What we may also see is Janson, Hobbie, and (would be nice) a Hoth Rebel Solider that replaces the vintage "deck officer" or whichever the vested trooper resembled.

Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures

I'll deal with this in our ROTS forum where we made a similar thread to cover that movie. This thread is for the other 5.

Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures

What the heck? Geonosis is so darn well covered??? We wanted some E2 figures, but not that many were close to being from Geonosis!

We wanted:

Beru
Cliegg
Queen Jamilla
Owen
Jango Fett out of armor (Kamino apartment)
Jocasta Nu
Padme as a Senator
Anakin in relaxed Jedi Robes (this might be possible for Geonosis)
Clone Trooper red jumpsuit (Kamino)
Tonbuck Toora - FROM GEONOSIS - we could only hope...
Padme in her black leather temptress dress

My guess is that Anakin as a padawan, Obi-Wan, Dooku, maybe Yoda, Jango Fett, and maybe a Battle Droid will see release here. Figures that came close to getting on our list that would be cooler included Baltar Swan and Sora Bulq. As they repainted Passel Argente and Shu Mai, we could be in for them carding Poggle the Lesser, etc. too  Looking at our list, Geonosis was the LAST planet from AOTC that they needed to make figures from. Kamino, Tatooine, Coruscant, Naboo - all would have been better choices.

Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV will include 7 figures

We're pretty sure we're going to get a Sandtrooper and a Tonnika Sister. We wanted the Tonnika Sister. There's no battle of Tatooine, but it goes with their theme name, so...

We wanted:

Hem Dazon
CZ-3
R5-D4
Bom Vimdim
Miiyoom Onith
Saurin
Tonnika Sister (pretty good chance here)
Wioslea
Reegesk
Givin Elris Helrot
Biggs Darklighter in Academy Uniform

So with the Sandtrooper and Tonnika Sister, there's only 5 more to choose from. I'd bet that perhaps Biggs could get made as an oddity if they are making his head for an X-wing pilot outfit as well. Another cantina alien is likley and Hem Dazon is at the top of the list. As to the core characters, they already have a Chewie, Han is only one, and Obi-Wan could be released again here, but that's still only 2. Our chances at getting good figures look good here. Luke Tatooine, plus Han and Obi-Wan still leave 2 more characters for this wave. Unless the Jawa and Tusken return, we could get somewhere on aliens or sandcrawler droids. Here's to hoping. I think this might be a great wave! :)

Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures

We wanted:

Moff Jerjerrod
Luke Endor Gear
Keeolkeech
R2D2 Shield Bunker blasted
Chief Chirpa
Slim Aloo (vintage Imperial dignitary)
Mother Ewok with Wokling

This is only 7 from Endor. I think our chances are great. Luke and probably Leia Endor are no-brainers if they go here. That's ok. Leia was close to getting on our list and is highly wanted anyway. EWOKS have to be coming. Hasbro was suggestive that Chief Chirpa might be important enough to finally see plastic. Wicket and Han Endor might make us wary of resculpts that are less than exciting. Bikerscouts always sell, so don't be surprised. Endor soldiers? Maybe. They've done a lot. C-3PO in the litter chair? It could be a good way to get Threepio out there again. So there could be the seven I was just discussing, obviously 2 were from our list. This wave could have something to get excited about. R2D2 Shield Bunker blaster could also be a popular no-brainer for them though, so maybe 3 or more? Jerjerrod will see light of day if no other Imperial Officers are being offered on the cards more or less. That is, he will, if Veers won't. Something like that. Hopefully I'm wrong and we could get both. The best chance is that we get neither. Grrrrrr.

Battle of Naboo from Episode I will include 8 figures

What the heck? 8?

We asked for:

Padme Handmaiden (which we removed from the list because Rabe was made)
Tey How (possible)
Daultay Dofine (possible)
Ben Quadrinaros (wrong planet)
Rep Teers (possible)

So there's only 4 we want from all of TPM. 8???

Let's look at main characters and main army builders:

Padme? Anakin (kid?) Qui-Gon - I could see this - since this is the only TPM wave, we're definitely going to see Qui-Gon or I'll be surprised. Obi-Wan ? (likely, since we haven't had a young Obi-Wan in a while). Darth Maul? Likely - as they want to get him back out there. Darth Sidious Hologram? Hmmm. There's an exclusive but it has an action feature. Would they do 2 so we'd get a good one? I wouldn't mind that. Battle Droids, Destroyers, Gungans? Likely. JarJarBinks? Likely - JarJar is not out there in any form right now - but an E3 version or his other outfit from AOTC would be more appreciated (is that the right word?) So I'd say 3 are clearly Maul, Qui-Gon, and JarJar...likely a droid would come out here. Padme and Anakin would be 5,6 and Obi-Wan could be 7, a Gungan Warrior 8. We might get nothing here. Our choices are pretty obscure - and there's no way we'll get BOTH Niemoidians the same year!

Battle of Death Star from Episode IV will include 6 figures

We asked for

Rebel Flight Tech
Commander Tagge
Col. Wolf Yularen

We might get a Rebel Flight Tech in place of a Rebel Soldier as they once planned that as a Deluxe Pack anyway. Han Ceremony? Luke X-wing I'd bet. TIE Pilot again? Stormtroopers are a no-brainer. Leia in the white dress again? Or Leia Ceremony resculpted or re-released again? R2 with X-wing battle damage? Darth Vader could make it back on the racks here better than any other wave unless he came with the Endor wave - but you have to have a Vader figure, so... We might get the flight tech - that's it. If they made Biggs in his academy uniform, and with Wedge coming out carded as an exclusive, maybe we'd see a Darklighter with removeable helmet. In any case, this wave is not likely to be anything special. Get your astromechs in Entertainment Earth's deluxe 5 packs. There's more excitement over there.

Best waves?

Coruscant (E3 - see the other thread)
Tatooine (very likely the best wave)
Endor (could be a great runner-up)

Worst? Most of the other ones in no particular order - but Carkoon, Geonosis, Naboo, and the Death Star might be very dull or even infuriating.

Will 2006 be good for collectors like those of us who voted here?

NO!

Tycho

Looks like I might actually buy next to nothing from Hasbro in 2006.

What we'll probably get will suck for me:

the Carkoon wave

Leia Boussh
Han Carbonite
Bib Fortuna
Barada
Boba Fett
Chewie in Chains

I might buy Bib Fortuna. I'll get Leia Boussh if a really nice deluxe Han Carbonite ever comes out. I'm not interested in much of the rest - aside from possibly using Boba as Jaster Mureel.

Battle of Hoth from Episode V will include 8 figures

Luke Snowspeeder (repaint POTJ)
Leia Hoth (kit bashed from POTJ Bespin Escape)
Han Hoth Saga repack
Snowtrooper POTF2 repack, maybe extra articulaton
FX-7 repack (possibly because of an FX droid appearing in ROTS)
Hoth Rebel Soldier - Saga repack, or possibly a better figure
Darth Vader "Hoth" repack
one good new figure?

I'd buy a new and improved Hoth Rebel, and some things never-made-before that they might offer, but most of this doesn't interest me.

Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures

Anakin - possibly new sculpt
Obi-Wan - possibly new sculpt
Grievous - possibly new sculpt
Battle Droid of some kind or Grievous' body guard
Mace Windu
Clone Trooper - likely white repack of #6 or #41

I'm not interested in anything here.

Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures

Anakin padawan - maybe Secret Ceremony retooled
Dooku - probably ROTS recarded
Yoda - probably ROTS # 3 recarded
Jango Fett - Saga removeable helmet recarded
Battle Droid or Geonosian
Padme Arena - possibly redone
Obi-Wan - new figure maybe or a E2 Mandalorian Clone Trooper

I might buy some new Anakins, if they are SA, and expressionless. I'm not interested in anything else here.

Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV will include 7 figures

Sandtrooper
Brea Tonnika
Han VOTC recarded
Luke Tatooine w. poncho
Obi-Wan Kenobi or a new Cantina Alien
Tusken Raider Saga Recarded
Jawa with a new little droid 2 pack (maybe the multi-arms)

I'd buy any new Cantina Alien and a new Jawa if it came with a totally new sandcrawler droid! Forget the rest.

Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures

Luke Endor
Leia Endor
Chief Chirpa
Bikerscout
R2D2 Shield bunker
Moff Jerjerrod or Royal Guard
Emperor Palpatine
C-3PO Ewok Throne

I'd surely buy 5 or more of these. This could be a good wave!

Battle of Naboo from Episode I will include 8 figures

Qui-Gon
Obi-Wan
Darth Maul
Anakin
Padme / Queen
JarJar Binks
Battle Droid of some type
Gungan Warrior or Naboo Soldier

I'd buy NONE of the above

Battle of Death Star from Episode IV will include 6 figures

Stormtrooper
Darth Vader
Luke X-wing
Han Stormtrooper
Princess Leia
Obi-Wan Kenobi

I'd buy NONE of the above

NO!

Im excited to see whats in the Battle of Endor wave. I would def. appreciate a Luke Endor, its the clostest we'd get to the DSII Jedi Luke. Im thinking that '06 will be a good year if hasbro can keep the core characters sculpts to the max, and give us versions of them we havent seen in plastic yet, and also keep the secondary and minor characters newly sculpted, or if they re-pack, do a great paint app. to um. Im trying to stay optomistic about the year. :) But I def. see your point tycho, and Im with you on a few of your points. (See bolded to see the points)

It's kind of funny, a couple of days ago I was just thinking about what it would take to reinvigorate my Star Wars collecting after Ep3 so effectively killed my interest. Resculpts of Han Carbonite, Leia Boushh, Barada and Bib Fortuna were at the top of my list (along with resculpts of the A-Wing Pilot, Gamorrean Guard and removable helmet Vader).

So this announcement from Hasbro comes as welcome news.

I'm pretty sure that the Barada will just be a repainted version of the Skiff Guards 3-pack version, but since 90% of what was wrong with that figure was its paint job then I am hopeful that he will turn out all right. I'm actually just stoked to be getting an individually carded version of my screen namesake.

I'm also kind of hoping that the ROTJ Endor Battle might include a super-articulated Biker Scout, along with carded versions of the A-wing Pilot and grey-suited Y-Wing Pilot (both on the same level of quality as Dutch Vander).

The Battle of Hoth assortment should include resculpts of the AT-AT Driver, AT-AT Commander and 2-1B (figures that have remained un-updated for about 9 years). At least I hope it does (I really don't want to see "Hoth-versions" of main characters who are just rereleases splattered with white paint that looks more like whipped cream than snow).

As far as 2006 is concerned, I'm all about resculpts. Mainly since there are not that many NBM (never-before-made) figures that I would personally be interested in buying (apart from the aformentioned Y-wing Pilot).

Im with you on that, but resculpts of the core characters that actually need it. (Han Endor, DSII Luke, individually carded Endor Luke, etc.)

Hasbro has yet to release a single acceptable Endor version of one of the main heroes. It's sad to say that, ten years after Star Wars toys returned to stores, the best versions of Han, Luke and Leia in their Endor gear are still the vintage 1983-85 figures.

I think Hasbro missed a big opportunity with the Battle of Carkoon wave. It would have been the perfect chance to give us a "Klaatu, Barada, Nikto part 2" assortment. We could have gotten individually carded resculpts of the vintage Nikto and vintage Klaatu (Wooof) along with Kithaba (the other Barada alien standing right behind Luke on the Prisoner Skiff).

That would have knocked two more figures off the list of much-needed vintage resculpts and given us another cool alien that has never before been released.

I've been saying that about Bib Fortuna for a while though some posters in this thread said they didn't think we needed a resculpt of him. I find that bizarre because, for me, the '97 version is such an obviously poor figure, as much so as R5-D4. (I know I've already said this in this thread)

I 100% agree with you on Bib Fortuna and I am glad we are getting a resculpt. Now we just need Hasbro to fix that horrible abomination that passes for a Gamorrean Guard as well.

I'm strongly leaning towards Hasbro just re-releasing the core characters to such the extreme as I posted below (recopied from above). I don't want most of these characters resculpted, recarded, or repainted, so I stand to buy very little product next year. As a whole, this is NOT what I'd want:

the Carkoon wave

Leia Boussh
Han Carbonite
Bib Fortuna
Barada
Boba Fett
Chewie in Chains

Battle of Hoth from Episode V will include 8 figures

Luke Snowspeeder (repaint POTJ)
Leia Hoth (kit bashed from POTJ Bespin Escape)
Han Hoth Saga repack
Snowtrooper POTF2 repack, maybe extra articulaton
FX-7 repack (possibly because of an FX droid appearing in ROTS)
Hoth Rebel Soldier - Saga repack, or possibly a better figure
Darth Vader "Hoth" repack
one good new figure?

Battle of Coruscant from Episode III will include 6 figures

Anakin - possibly new sculpt
Obi-Wan - possibly new sculpt
Grievous - possibly new sculpt
Battle Droid of some kind or Grievous' body guard
Mace Windu
Clone Trooper - likely white repack of #6 or #41

Battle of Geonosis from Episode II will include 7 figures

Anakin padawan - maybe Secret Ceremony retooled
Dooku - probably ROTS recarded
Yoda - probably ROTS # 3 recarded
Jango Fett - Saga removeable helmet recarded
Battle Droid or Geonosian
Padme Arena - possibly redone
Obi-Wan - new figure maybe or a E2 Mandalorian Clone Trooper

Battle of Tatooine from Episode IV will include 7 figures

Sandtrooper
Brea Tonnika
Han VOTC recarded
Luke Tatooine w. poncho
Obi-Wan Kenobi or a new Cantina Alien
Tusken Raider Saga Recarded
Jawa with a new little droid 2 pack (maybe the multi-arms)

Battle of Endor from Episode VI will include 8 figures

Luke Endor
Leia Endor
Chief Chirpa
Bikerscout
R2D2 Shield bunker
Moff Jerjerrod or Royal Guard
Emperor Palpatine
C-3PO Ewok Throne

Battle of Naboo from Episode I will include 8 figures

JarJar Binks
Battle Droid of some type
Gungan Warrior or Naboo Soldier

Battle of Death Star from Episode IV will include 6 figures

Where as Im all for core characters, I do not want repacks or repaints. I want resculpts, good ones, so they dont have to do these characters again or not for a long time. I also wanna comment about the final wave, Battle of the Death Star. Im thinking that they will have figures from both Death Stars, and if not, then Im hightly leaning towards figures from the DSII to pop up in the Battle of Endor wave. If you take a look in the previous Endor Saga wave, they have figures like Lando DS Attack. I dont care what figures we get as long as they possibly release DSII Jedi Luke. Then, Ill die happy and stop b**ching and moaning and Ill be happy:)

Not to be mean . . . but could you lay off the DSII/Endor Luke for a while? I want one as well, but mentioning it in every single post I make isn't going to make it happen.

Anyways, this is from GH:

According to Hasbro Marketing Director Derryl Depriest, the three figures joining Leia Boushh, Han Carbonite, and Bib Fortuna will be Barada (Skiff Guard), Chewbacca, and Boba Fett. Derryl added that Boba Fett will be a combination of previously released Boba Fetts.

I wonder what parts the new Fett will have? They pretty much nailed the ROTJ Fett in the VOTC, but they seem fond of the Saga version. I think it would be cool if they used the arm from the Kamino Escape Jango, so he could have a rope thingy just like his daddy (and could tie up Luke). I'd even be down for a ROTJ repaint of the 300th figure. From this info, I guess that Barada and Chewie may be slightly different as well . . .

I think the barada is a repaint, and the Chewie is going to have "realistic metal chains". I remember reading that, either here, Galatic Hunter, or Rebelscum. Sorry if I ticked you off JabbaJohn, I wont mention him again.

Where as Im all for core characters, I do not want repacks or repaints. I want resculpts, good ones, so they dont have to do these characters again or not for a long time.

They will do these same characters EVERY YEAR.

Why?

It will help any other scene specific figures to sell in order to accessorize the figures the main characters kids will want to play with.

As of today, my Wal-Mart has not restocked anything, so they are displaying the exciting adventures of Mas Ameeda.

“On a breathtaking tour of the galaxy, Mas Ameeda encountered Polis Masans, Chopper Droids, and Bail Organa at an exciting medical conference. Niemoidian Warriors provided security, while Palpatine gave the opening remarks singing the Republic’s anthem for Mon Mothma, the only person to attend.”

Now kids can recreate the exciting adventures of Mas Ameeda in the privacy of their own home. Thanks Wal-Mart.

Well, this is not how:

1) People who have never bought a Star Wars figure before
2) kids who were not old enough (4 & up) to play with Star Wars before
3) ROTS collectors who now want OT and TPM/AOTC characters

all want to play with or collect Star Wars.

"General Veers vs. Yarna dal Gargon on the Moisture Farm of Cliegg Lars" is a recipe for NOT selling very many Star Wars figures (except to all of us).

ALL OF US WHO POST HERE HAVE ALMOST EVERY CONCEIVABLE VERSION of Luke, Darth Maul, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jango Fett, etc. - as well as too many Plo Koons, SaeSee Tiins, that sort of thing.

WE ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO BUY STAR WARS WHO CAN IDENTIFY SGT. DOALLYN. (which doesn't discredit us for really wanting his action figure!)

But Sgt. Doaylln vs. Slim Aloo doesn't sound like very fun "play action" either.

However, amongst us (myself DEFINITELY NOT INCLUDED) are those:

1) Carded collectors who will buy any variation
2) Scene-card enthusiasts who loved the look of the figures in scenes on the OTC packaging
3) Resculpt improvement fans who always wanted "this or that ultimate figure of..."

And those of you like that, will buy just about anything Hasbro puts out, including the ridiculous idea of making Emperor Palpatine # 12 a hologram figure instead of re-releasing TPM's Darth Sidious hologram figure on a new card. A hologram with holographic Force-lightning launching capability? Come on! How low can they sink? (I shouldn't ask).

Anyway, people will stop collecting SW for many reasons all the time:

1) running out of money (changes in life like girlfriends, wives, kids)
2) running out of room (got everything since '95? since '78? yeah? where?)
3) running out of interest (the movies are over. Can some of us move on?)
4) running out of characters (got everyone you're interested in?)
5) "maturing" or deciding you're too embarassed to have these things
6) changing interests - Transformers look like they'll have more staying power?
7) Paying off your debt: now you owe $2,000+ on your credit card since April 2nd
8) changing priorities - does money to go out and do stuff supercede spending every free dollar and cent on toys?

Hasbro's depending upon new buyers to come into the hobby or it will die. - We already made the case for why the adventures of Sgt.Doallyn wouldn't sell without a Luke Jedi (DSII option available for ROTJLuke, ok?) on the shelves. Newbies will show up here on the boards for a while too I'm sure. You'll be able to spot them when they ask "did they ever make a figure for Pote Snitkin? Yeah? Who was he?"

But in the meanwhile, these 25 figures must be available to keep Star Wars moving:

Han
Luke
Leia
Chewie
R2
C-3PO
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Darth Vader
Stormtrooper (ANH, Sand, Snow, Bikerscout)
Boba Fett
Lando
Yoda
Emperor Palpatine
Jabba the Hutt (or his most recognizeable minions)
Darth Maul
Qui-Gon
Anakin
Padme
JarJar Binks
Battle Droid (regular, Super, Destroyer, body guard)
Jango Fett
Count Dooku
Mace Windu
General Grievous
Clone Troopers (AOTC, ROTS specialists and officers)

If they do somewhere around 50 figures per year, about HALF OF THEM will necessitate being resculpts from the above. You can only do so much for most of the Jedi or Sith - they always dress the same. They have some options for never-before-made-outfits with some of them (especially Padme), and others are obvious army builders.

The best way for them to get characters we want out with stuff that will sell with them would be to put about 3 of these "have-to-haves resculpts" in each wave:

Carkoon:
Leia, Han, Chewie, Boba Fett

Hoth:
Luke, Vader, R2D2

Coruscant:
Grievous, Padme, Mace, Yoda

Geonosis:
Dooku, Anakin, Clone, Jango

Tatooine:
Obi-Wan, Sandtrooper,

Endor:
Luke, Leia, Lando,

Naboo:
JarJar, Maul, Qui-Gon, Battle Droid

Death Star:
Vader, C-3PO, Palpatine

Then they could do it something like this (taking about an even 7 figures per wave):

Carkoon:
Leia, Han, Chewie, Boba Fett, Sgt. Doallyn, Herme Odle, Woof

Hoth:
Luke, Vader, R2D2 General Veers, Major Derlin, Torryn Farr

Coruscant:
Grievous, Padme hair in buns or nightgown , Mace, Yoda, Baron Papanoida (Lucas), Bail Organa Senate Outfit, Fireship Pilot

Geonosis:
Dooku, Anakin, Clone, Jango, Sora Bulq, Baltar Swan, Tonbuck Toora

Tatooine:
Obi-Wan, Sandtrooper, Tonnika Sister, sandcrawler droid, Hem Dazon (Arcona), Bom Vimdim (Advoze), Wioslea

Endor:
Luke, Leia, C-3PO, Chief Chirpa, Moff Jerjerrod, Lumat, R2 Shield Bunker

Naboo:
JarJar, Maul, Qui-Gon, Battle Droid, Rep Teers, Tey How, Queen Purple Dress

Death Star:
Vader, Lando, Palpatine, B-wing Pilot, Y-wing Pilot, Slim Aloo

Tycho

Heck, they could continue the waves they're doing the next year, changing somethings up - NOTICE THAT SELLABLE FIGURES DIMINISH...there would be less figures this year (2007) unless they break up the themes more.

Jabbas/Tatooine:
Luke, R2 Lightsaber, C-3PO slime, Yarna dal Gargon, Givin (Elris Helrot), Saurin, sandcrawler droid

Bespin:
Han Torture Chair, Leia (end of ESB), Lando, black Bespin Guard, Treva Horme, Wiorkettle, Jeremy Bulloch Imperial Officer

Utopau:
Grievous, Obi-Wan, Battle Droid, Cmdr. CodyPau'n, Senator Tikkes, Po Nudo

Naboo:
Padme (yellow dress), Anakin (kid), Battle Droid (different type) Queen Jamilla, Sio Bibble, Daultay Dofine

Tatooine:
Qui-Gon, Darth Maul, Dud Bolt, sandcrawler droid, Brainiac, Owen, Beru

Endor:
Han Solo, Chewbacca, Bikerscout, Darth Vader, Yoda (spirit) Warok, Romba,

Kamino:
Jango Fett (apartment), Boba Fett, Obi-Wan (wet), Clone in red jumpsuit, Kaminoan worker

Coruscant: Palpatine (new outfit), Dooku, Mace, Clone Trooper Padme new outfit, Bail Organa new outfit

Thanks for thinkin of me tycho :) but like I told JabbaJohn, for everyones sake of annoyance, I wont mention him anymore, but thanks. I agree with you here, and it makes perfect sense. You are right, and they do have the license till 2018, so I figure somewhere in between now and that time, the figures we want will be made. I dont see kids collecting SW forever, esp. since theres no movies out. A lot of them just go with fads, and where as ROTS was a fad, and they may love the OT and the OT characters, they wont stick with it b/c its not in the media and not in the mainlight and main stream. I see the SW line being focused on us, collectors, so Im really starting to calm down on trying to "collect um all" and really focus on the ones I love and see fit to get. It saves you money and your happy with your purchase at the end of the day.

I think the barada is a repaint, and the Chewie is going to have "realistic metal chains". I remember reading that, either here, Galatic Hunter, or Rebelscum. Sorry if I ticked you off JabbaJohn, I wont mention him again.
No, that's okay . . . just that by now everyone on these boards is very well aware that you want one of those, and if they aren't, well, it's in your sig line. :) You are free to mention him whenever you please, but I don't really think it's necessary to do so in nearly every post you make. :)

I think my enthusiasm verges on harmful - not physically of course but in other ways.
