Yahoo is taking registrations for leagues in August. WHo is down before I set it up. I know me and a dude from work will be in. How about the Canadians and Michiganites?

Question for you hockey fans. Are any of you mad about how there wasn't a season last year? I mean don't you have a bit of animosity towards the whole sport? You see now how they don't care about the fans, they care only about $. I wouldn't give a damn about it after what happened.

I'd think about it. I don't know how much you have to check up on these leagues as I've never joined them but I'd like to give it a whirl.

BTW, were called Michiganders or Michiganians. That's your lesson for the day kiddies.:D

Ok, SO thats three me and my friend, so I will create the league because I know LBC and his brither will join.

SLicker, you can set a line up a week at a time in advance, but normally check in everyday. It is fairly easy.

I will let you know when its created so I can get you guys emails and send it off so you can join. JJ will join too. (waves hand)

Lowly Bantha Cleaner

I think the scoring system is too goalie intensive. Saves are the big reason that everyone has an inflated score. You can find a dookie goalie that plays for like Pittsburgh, and even though they are winless, you will get tons of points simply because their team gives up a ton of rubber. Sure, you give up a few goals, but all it takes is one save to negate the goal given up. If perhaps the scoring system can be changed so that the individual skater statistics can be emphasized more--that might make it better for everyone.
I honestly I am not going to be heart broken if the rules stay the same--my team seems to be clicking this year.

I was actually listening to the Wings game on NHL Radio last nite at work when this happened and the announcers were dumb-founded. At first, they called it a "stupid" penalty on behalf of Detroit because the Wings had way too many men on the ice. Then they realized they were just trying to get the refs attention and then it got serious, almost somber. They actually predicted that the game would get cancelled about an hour before it did, saying that they were so shaken up that they can't begin to imagine how players on both sides must feel.

The good news is that Fisher is conscious and responsive and expected to make a full recovery (he had been diagnosed with a heart ailment in 2002, but it's not known if it was the cause of this). The bad news is that my Fantasy squad is down another defensemen (though that's really nowhere near important given the severity of the situation).

How many of you have trouble remembering to start a line-up? There have been more than a few nights where I unwittingly benched a goalie simply because I forgot to see if I started my line-up for the day. Yesterday Luongo for Florida made over 40 saves in a victory, but it wouldn't register on my score, simply because I thought I had started my line-up for Saturday, the day or two previous. This has happened at least three times before.
It's frustrating because I am so close to capturing the top spot of the league. :upset:

I see Lemeiux's word as more of a ploy than anything. The Penguins play in the oldest arena in the league, and have been trying for years now to get a new one. With the city committing to a new football and baseball stadium, one thinks that in fairness, they would have to commit to a new hockey arena. I know Pittsburgh's city finances are messed up, but they should get a new stadium built, simply for tradition's sake. The team has been in Pittsburgh for nearly 40 years and it would be a shame to see it leave.

This is a hockey related topic, so I will post it here.

17 years ago, one of the most horrific incidents in hockey occured at Buffalo's War Memorial Auditorium. It involved goalie Clint Malarchuk and a terrible collision in front of his net. A skate severed his jugular.

Even though I just turned 9 when this incident happened, I still remember vividly that night. My family was actually watching the game (not me though) and many will not forget what they saw that night. It was the talk of the town the next day and I remember even discussing it with our teacher in 3rd grade.

I put a link to the incident, and let me warn you about it; the video is not for the squeamish. Also, the only site I found it on, has tasteless, tacky crap all over it, so disregard that too. http://www.collegehumor.com/movies/1598546/

I've had that video for some time and it's just amazing that he survived it. The blood is pooling unbelievably fast in front of him.

Wow, that was 17 years ago? I don't need to click on the link, I still remember the images. I saw something on Malarchuck a while back, he went into a deep depression for a while, but he's doing fine now.

I can't believe it was that long ago either - I remember it very clearly. Scary stuff - I couldn't believe he survived that either.

Finally my goalies are playing...but unfortunately they're all playing in the same night. For the first time I had all 4 goalies start last night but thankfully I picked the two that got the highest points.

You better watch out KH. I'm gettin' closer.
