View Full Version : Help me rate my 1977 Style A poster!

How do I find out how valuable my vintage Starwars 1977 Style A poster is?

I look online and all I see are reprints. What I can dig up is that it's an original 1977 27x41 unfolded Style A, 77/21-0. I will take pics of it if anyone can help me authenticate or rate it.

The poster has just a few minor spots, but overall is beautiful! No tack holes on the corners or anything.

I have had it for many years, my roommate in college couldn't pay his rent one month, and he traded it to me for taking care of his rent, he said he had it for a long long time as well, and had paid $300 for it long ago.

As far as I can tell, it's going for around a grand online at the vintage poster shops. If it's that valuable, I need to have it appraised and insured.

Any help would be fabulous!

my rating in that condition? i'd give it a G8-11-E.1

you want to know how much it's worth? put it on ebay. it's the collectibles equalizer, because it's the widest demographic for the supply/demand equation to fit into.

or, just keep it, put it in a nice frame, and know that it's worth a lot - to you.

and if the appraisal/insurance is the main driving force, i'd go with the ~$1000 that you've found in other areas.

I'd use Vyn's idea and put it on Ebay with an ungodly high reserve so that it won't sell but you'll get an idea of what people'll pay for it.

I agree with the idea of putting it on eBay,so long as the reserve is so high that it could never be reached. Its a lovely poster,and I would give it about a 8.5 personally on a scale of 10.

Naaa, just send it in a nice tube. I'll use it for some book covers.
