View Full Version : Padme doesn't belong on the poll

Out of all the characters that we can vote for on Sideshows poll, Padme is the only one that's not an expanded universe character. Only her outfit is. I think they should take her off the list! We're not voting for her,we're only voting for her outfit. They'll probably make her eventually in the regular line anyway. They could just make that arctic outfit as an accessory pack or something like that.
And if she wins,is it gonna be a 12" cartoon version that won't fit in with the rest of the 12" figures? Or a 12" real looking Natalie Portman version in an artic outfit?

Yeah. I think that was a lame choice for the poll as well.
Hopefully she doesn't take any votes away from Kir Kanos.

I sent a message to Sideshow telling them that padme isn't exactly expanded universe. I'll post the reply here if I get one. I'm dying to see what they will say. I should have asked them if the figure will be a cartoon version or Natalie Portman if she did win.
Somebody on another forum was mad that Kyle Katarn wasn't on the list.
I voted for her, she's way better than those other EU characters.

That is quite weird that Kyle Katarn isn't on the list. He was one of the first EU characters to be created as a visual character in the SW universe in Dark Forces. I also would've liked to see some Shadows of the Empire choices.

But's she's not expanded universe! And you're probably gonna get a Padme in the regular series anyway! So why waste a spot on this poll?:(
But's she's not expanded universe!
From that point of view, it's why I voted for her. :crazed:
Why worry about her being a cartoon figure ? I mean, if they do Kir the Royal Guard, he's not gonna look like that cartoon version, if they do Mara Jade I'm sure it will pass for Shannon McRandle, and look at Quinlan Vos, if he wins then I don't see any concern that he would look like a comic drawing. I'm sure these will be in "realistic" form but it can't hurt to ask them to be sure. :)

Here's an already produced Hasbro 12" Kir Kanos. (http://www.rebelscum.com/toys/acemperorroyalguardbox.jpg)Link. (http://www.rebelscum.com/toys/acemperorroyalguardbox.jpg)
I picked him for the explicit fact that the only thing EU about him is his name.

That Hasbro figure is a piece of crap. You couldn't pass that off as Kir Kanos without a ton of work.
Personally, I would have preferred Carnor Jax over Kir. He looks more evil
1st pic is Kir Kanos, 2nd is Carnor Jax:

Hmmm,I guess since the Royal Guard appeared in the movie he could be considered the same as Padme, only the outfit is expanded universe.:( And the name Kir Kanos. I didn't look at it from that point of view.
Oh well,I tried!:lipsrseal

Oh well,I tried!:lipsrsealI didn't mean to stomp on yer feelings I'm just explaining that they could've included a figure that has never been made before or has never had a likeness done. I'm personally still hoping for a Kir Kanos only because, from the pics Reefer posted, he looks really awesome and he's versatile as an EU character out of armor and a normal OT character while in it. (if it looks the same as the normal ROTJ armor that is)

Kir Kanos would be cool as well. He would be my second choice.

sideshow said if padme wins she will look realistic, not like a cartoon character.
the clone wars cartoon and all characters in it is considered EU by sideshow.
i'm glad padme was on the list. i think she may win too. all the others will split the votes of EU fans.

Ventress all the way. If Mara Jade wins I'm selling my collection. She is one of the most overrated EU characters. I want somebody cool, not some poor-mans excuse for Han Solo that is Kyle Katarn.

I posted this on another forum.

This sucks because everybody is voting for Padme and if she wins we will lose out on an expanded universe figure. Padme is not expanded universe, she appeared in the movies & was a pretty friggin major player! You can't have a mainstream character in an expanded universe poll! Expanded universe means expanded beyond the movies. EU characters are supposed to be characters that didn't appear in the movies, they appeared in the novels, comics or video games. Anything but the movies. If they appeared in the movies they could easily fit into the regular line. Just like the leia in Boussh disguise from Shadows Of The Empire wasn't expanded universe. We will get Padme in the regular series (eventually) & we will also have Padme filling up the expanded universe slot too!
All the people voting for Padme are screwing the rest of us that want an actual expanded universe character that didn't appear in the movies. Kir Kanos,Mara Jade,Thrawn,Assaj Ventress & Quinlan Vos have NEVER had 12" figures made of them before. Padme has a ton of 12" figures & her own doll line! The people voting for Padme are missing the damn point! This poll is supposed to be an opportunity for fans to get a 12" figure of a character NEVER MADE BEFORE! We're probably gonna end up with another version of a character we already have! Nice going!
__________________________________________________ _______________
So if Padme wins, everybody that wants a new, never released before 12" figure GETS SCREWED! Plain & simple.
I don't understand why you can't just wait for a Padme in the regular line & then customize her into the arctic version if you need that so badly. If you voted for Padme you just voted for an outfit! NOT a new figure! Nice job!
I'm sure I speak for everybody that wants a new *NEVER MADE BEFORE* character when I say "Thanks a lot numbnuts!"

Just for you, TCC-1972, I'm voting for Arctic Padme! lol
I don't customize.
And instead of throwing out names at the rest of us, maybe you should take it up with Sideshow, considering:
This poll is supposed to be an opportunity for fans to get a 12" figure of a character NEVER MADE BEFORE!
Then why did Sideshow put her in the poll ? They wrote the poll, not us . . . lol lol lol

Feh.... EU or not, A realistic version of that Padme would probably end up looking like a little girls doll. lol
Something like that really wouldn't have a place in my collection, so I would probably pass on her.

Funny how the people that agree with me never reply. Makes it look like nobody that read my post can see where I'm coming from.
Fine,Padme it is! But while we're at it why don't we ask Sideshow to make a Luke Skywalker figure with a red lightsaber! That would be as original as a Padme figure in a white outfit! I mean let's face it,NOBODY has EVER seen Padme figure in a tight white outfit before right?
Maybe if Padme doesn't win I'll put a Hasbro Padme in a Holiday Barbie outfit & sell them on Ebay. I should make a fortune right?:lipsrseal

I agree with you in a way. I wish Padme was not on the poll, but that's mainly b/c I think it will make a lame toy.
Since I wish Clone Wars Obi-Wan was on the poll, I guess I can't agree on the EU/or non-EU deal.

While I did not vote for Padme, I just assumed Mara Jade would be the hands-down fav....shows you what I know on EU!

That's true, maybe Sideshow is already planning on making a Obi in armor.
We're not talking about Hasbro here, these guys might actually have a clue as to what we want! (I can hope, right?)

They better, if not, just get me their addresses and I'll take care of it....
Ok, if Obi in Clone gear was on that list, I would have voted for him in a heartbeat, "EU" or not. Sideshow apparently considers anything not from the movies EU

Padme Arctic is a super lame inclusion, it's just fur-trim gloves and hooded cape on Ep 2 Padme, not an original character and not a real EU one either - this was a bad choice for them to put on an EU poll.

kir kanos......942

I just got my e-mail too and was suprised Padme was last, but glad - should not be in a EU poll - Kir is second - here's hoping! He'd be the only EU I would buy
Meh, I wouldn't have bought her anyway.

I have to agree she doesnt belong, but luckilly she is in last place. I voted for Kir and really hope he wins. Carnor Jax would be a nice follow up as well.

Voted for Mara Jade but the more I think about it I wish I had voted for Quinlan Vos. Mara is popular enough that if she didn't win they'd probably still make a figure of her eventually anyways. My only hope is that Vos, Kanos and Ventress show enough promise to warrant figures. Padme in Artic Gear would have only interested me if it looks Clone Wars cartoony, the fact its going to look realistic if it wins is enough for me too pass...

I voted for Quinlan Vos. I was going to vote for Jade, but she's way too popular and would likely to be made. I dont think the Padme is EU,and wouldnt fit into my collection at all.I might as well stick a Barbie up next to the rest of my SW stuff.
