Wasn't sure where to put this since there was no sub forum topic about it but this sort of popped into my head and I wanted to hear what other fans would have to say about it.
QUESTION:
Now that ROTS is in the can...... Will Lucas wait another 15 - 20 years to create yet another Trilogy, perhaps post OT or Pre Prequel ?????
My answer is yes. I think Lucas will not drop the bomb and never make another Trilogy because if you think about it, he is already talking about making a 3-D version of the movies which can be thought of as another attempt at the Special editions. Plus the money and the sheer sense that if he does make another trilogy that the fans will eat it up and even more money will go into his already large bank account.
Also if history has thought us anything, never expect that what someone says is always true. After all Indiana Jones was thought to have ended with the Last Crusade, at least I remember hearing something about that, and now fans are eagerly anticipating Indy IV. Whose to say that even though Lucas has stated the ROTS was the last of the Star Wars Saga, that in 15 or 20 years he doesn't create a new trilogy. Since we are getting a live action series and a cartoon series as well, it is obivious that Lucas does not want to end the Saga.
Plus there is still all of that untapped EU source out in the bookstores. (yes I know people get sour about the mere mention of EU, but if EU didn't exist then we wouldn't have had mention of Quilon Vos in ROTS and Aayla would have been no where ot be seen in AOTC and ROTS.)
I think that Lucas would be a fool to end the saga, since the fans still want more. Perhaps he can even just be th creative consultant on the films and hand over the reigns to someone else. He would still have the royalities to the Star Wars Saga and have a say as to what can happen in his universe.
And since Hasbro has the line rights to what 2018 this can be a way for them to create more product, since ideas are going to start running dry eventually.
And to top it all off, what is going to happen to the millions of potential fans that are going to be born in the future, will they be able to experience Star Wars on the Big Screen and have a saga of their own or are they doomed to forever only experience the Saga on the TV Screen.
I'm asking all to voice their thoughts on this. Even if you don't agree or think the Saga is complete, it wouold be interesting to hear the voices of others on this topic. :)
