View Full Version : MTV & Video Music Awards... how silly is it?

I was thinking about how silly it is for MTV to have a video music awards show these days considering they barely play any music videos. I mean, seriously, think about it. It just doesn't make any sense. If MTV wanted to have a "random programming with stupid whiny people who can't speak English properly" awards show, they could do so immediately!

That's probably how they can keep calling themselves Music Television.

It's also an excuse for every rapper to argue with each other. Then they wonder why they all get Tupac'd.

True. Milonakis is a dork, i dont see how the kid got his garbage on the tube. But considering the channel, it shouldnt be a surprise. I didnt watch the show, i figure if i want to see it, im sure MTV will be playing the rerun (and quite often) very soon.

If MTV does play a video it's some junky rap or R and B crap. The channel is helping in the dumbing of America. Oh and my wife told me that that kiddy porn guys videos are played all the time. Whas zup wit dat Yo?:cross-eye

No, it's not the same kid as from the Man Show, because:

a) the Man Show Boy was actually funny.
b) Milonakis isn't even a kid, he's in his late 20s (pushing 30) but has a youth syndrome thing going on, similar to Gary Coleman.

Again :tired:, they couldn't be the same "kid" since Andy Milojackass is 12 years older than the kid who played The Man Show Boy, Aaron Hamill.

Now go ahead and spread rumors that Aaron is the son of Mark. lol  lol

Milonakis is 29 years old for crying out loud, he's 2 years older than me !

Sad.

Green Day did do a great job, though...

I thought Caesar was talking out of his you know what but it turns out he is right. I've only seen a few min. of Andy's show and now knowing the fact he's 29 makes it even dumber.

But if MTV didn't have music awards, then who would give Lindsey Lohan and Hillary Duff the awards they so deserve?

Methinks you refer to the very first Grammy for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Performance going to Jethro Tull back in the day. Jethro Tull is cool, but no way they can pass for heavy metal.

Metallica's acceptance speech the next year, when they won (for "Stone Cold Crazy"?) was classic: "First, we'd like to thank Jethro Tull for not releasing a new album this year...."

What's with all this Andy hatin'? This is one of my favorite shows! I can see how most people wouldn't like it, but oh well, I like it.

"Snoop, Snoop, I'm your biggest crazy fan! Ever since I heard your song Gin and Juice, I've been drinking juice! I love juice!!!" - Larry :D

He got famous because he made a video online where he sings about how everything is "gay." It's on funnyjunk.com now, and apparently it was sent around like the SW Kid and the Numa Numa Kid (I guess if you want internet fandom, short of being a porn star, you have to be fat and look like a kid :D ). I don't think this is as funny as the stuff he does now though. Jimmy Kimmel caught wind of it, got him on his show, then got him his own show.

Why do *I* hate him... he's not "music" or "video". He's an imbecile. He goes hand in hand with the other "talent" that MTV has had such as Tom Green (never even found this Lanny funny) and the Jacka$$ guys (now that show I liked).

I didn't really watch Tom Green's show but I loved Freddy Got Fingered. Jackass ? What a pile of **** that show was, I hate those guys and I hope Steve-O and Bam are the first to die from a stunt, and I hope it is painful for them when they go. :)

I loved Jackass, I always wet my pants. My favorite was when three mental morons raced to see who could drink a gallon of milk the quickest and ended up puking on each other. The movie was hilarious when the dude got punched in the gut and S**t himself.

That's why they should eventually die on film, at least their show will be performing a public service.

As for Green Day, when did they become the new Radiohead? They were, for the most part, punky-pop in the eary and mid-90's, then they released a bunch of garbage for the next five years, and now all of the sudden they're the second coming of Christ that all the music snobs (i.e. Spin, Rolling Stone) are trying to shove down your throat (ala The White Stripes and the aforementioned Radiohead).

El Chuxter

I think when they started bashing Dubya on American Idiot. (Seriously, not trying to make a judgment call here.) It's good, maybe even great, but the second coming it's not.

Dude, I hate to be a buzz-kill, but that's not funny. There are only two things I find funny about MTV nowadays: 1. Stupid feuding rappers who'll probably get shot by October and 2. Don Vito from Viva La Bam. Man, that guy's hilarious when he doesn't even mean to be! What happened to the good MTV shows like Beavis and Butthead? But now, if MTV just went bankrupt and was forced to stop airing, I wouldn't miss it. I've stopped watching it anyway, because if I see one more 16-year old spoiled little b*tch at a huge sweet 16 party she doesn't even deserve, I'm gonna have a seizure.

Exactly. This is why I watch Fuse  Cant go wrong with Juliya and Stevens Untitled Rock Show . Good to see a music channel actually play videos and center around music.

For that particular quote, it's all in the delivery, which is hard to convey when you can't, uh, deliver it online.

However, I will have to agree with you about Don Vito. He rules! Hopefully that show's coming back, but they made it sound like it won't.
