The box sure looks spiffy, but not enough to buy the same DVDs again. Also, they got rid of the fourth disc, so that's pretty damn stupid. I don't know why they didn't just send out more of the 2004 4-disc versions.

I just saw this myself JJL. It was only a matter of time before they started re-releasing it. Why you would buy this one when they still have the 4 disc set laying on the shelves is beyond me.

The box does look nicer, with the often ignored classic poster image. I'll give them that much.

How stupid...but I do like this box better.

I have so many sets of these movies, I really don't need another, unless these are the "original" films ase the were originally released before Mr. Lucas decided to tinker with them. If they were the original non special edition films on DVD where Han shoots greedo and greedo doesn't even get a shot off, then I would buy them, otherwise, fa gid a bout it.

As Luke Skywalker once said, "What a piece of junk!"

Even if you could it probably wouldn't work since this new one is for a 3 disk vs. the 4 disk that was put out.

Even if you could it probably wouldn't work since this new one is for a 3 disk vs. the 4 disk that was put out. Ah, this will prevent people from buying the new one just to swap the box covers for last year's release and then shrinkwrapping and returning the set.

I like the new cover art. I wonder if they changed the cover art for the individual DVD box sleeves too. I'd prefer the original theatrical poster art on each sleeve rather than what we got last year.

I do like the box art, and though I have a slew of OT VHS that I kept buying, these are too close together for me to justify that much money. But, to play devil's advocate, I can understand from a marketing standpoint wanting to have a "new" DVD with eye cathing graphics on the market for the holidays, rather than just last years version. Probably doesn't cost too much to make up a new package in the scheme of things. Toys, housewares, food, most things really keep getting new packaging updates even though the product is the same.
MAybe I'll buy it down the road, but I don't feel pressure to. At least there is no new exclusive content, cause then we all would be PO'ed they left it out the first time.
If it gets more people interested in Star Wars and the brand lives on, then I say go for it!

According to the home page here on SSG, these discs will feature the same commentaries but new easter egg credit rolls on each disc. Woo-hoo!

09-30-2005, 02:32 AM
what exactly are we talking about with these credit rolls ?

09-30-2005, 02:47 AM
I was wonderin' that myself.

If it's the same as an egg roll then I'm down like a clown.

The blooper Easter Eggs on the other SW discs are DVD credits, so maybe that's what it means?

That thought crossed my mind but I don't think it will be the case. I could be wrong !
