Ok, with the exception of some exclusives and/or some random rarities (i.e. Eopie, Theatre Ed. Luke, Holo. Sidious, etc.), I'd say finding POTF2, Ep.1, and POTJ goodies were somewhat easy. Even for those who joined late in the game of collecting, it was, for the most part, possible to catch up pretty quickly. Even more so when Hasbro and their retailers would flood the market with "supposedly" retired items at ridiculously low prices. Ah yes....10 dollar AT-ATs after I forked out 80 bucks....$38 Fambaas after I got nailed for $75.....$1.97 figures after I paid the full $7.00. Now I think....."hmmm.....if I'd waited on the majority of this stuff, I'd have LITERALLY saved hundreds of dollars". Yet back then, I used to say, "Well, you never know if you won't see this again, so......" and would buy it. Anyway, judging from the last three lines, wouldn't one be safe to assume that Ep.2 will be no different? Granted, Ep.1 was a hyped-up catastrophy with tons of left over product and HAD to be sold off for pennies, but will the Ep.2 line be handled any better? Might it be wiser to just let the hype take it's course, then rack up on stuff when the prices bottom out?.....or will I be paying triple on Ebay for stuff I saw a million times but passed on because I thought I had a brilliant theory that exploded in my face like an Eopie's flatulent?

Oh, the horror....what to do, what to do...:( ..........what are YOU gonna do????

Well. From what I've read, the overwhelming majority of posters are not very receptive to what they've seen of the AOTC stuff, at least as far as figures are concerned. Guess you'll be able to buy all the bow legged Dookus you want for $1 a pop after a few months.

I guess I'm one of those worriers. I'll try to buy them when they 1st come out because around here figures are far and inbetween.

I'll buy the characters I'm most interested in first this time and see how things are going before I decide. Around here they'll disappear after a year or so!

Word on the street has it that hasbro have decided to reduce the amount of figures produced. That's to say the overall number of each figure produced has been reduced.
There'll be plenty of new sculpts and new toys but there won't be as many of them to go round. This is because of the episode one fiasco.
Obtaining those sought after figures (?) will become harder and harder and the prices will creep up again which will artificially hoik up demand and set those old time scalpers hurrying to the stores once more after sniffing out a fast buck.

Retail confidence in film tie in products is shaky to say the least here in the UK and I would assume that it's a similar story elsewhere in the world. Aside from the first couple of waves while the film is still a hot property and fresh in peoples minds I don't think there'll be much product hitting the stores here in the UK. It will once again fall to specialist outlets and online stores to fulfill the collectors needs. And that of course comes at a cost - import tax. because these specialist stores and online stores import from the States and Asia.

This is in itself a cool thing as it at least allows us in this tiny backwater island to obtain goods which might otherwise slip through our grasp. But it means being at least four months behind the States. And it means having to fight really hard for the figures and remain vigilant permanently in order to spot the goods as they arrive and before they immediately disappear from view.

(It seems strange to me that a lot of Americans buy from a UK online toystore. These toys are back and forth across the oceans like yo-yos and the price just keeps going up each time.)

I buy when I see it and I buy multiples at the time of release without waiting for the clearance sale prices. I buy more then. I'm an addict, a slave to star wars figure collecting. I need my fix or I'm an uncontrollable monster of slavering cravings and insane ramblings. If my collecting means that others don't find stuff they think they might like then too bad. It's a dog eat dog collecting world out there and you've got to be a sharp hunter to survive...

Wise words, Jargo. I'll carry a knife from April 22nd onwards.

you're bound to get a certain amount of respectful distance in the toy aisles if you do. fighting mad irishmen with bowie knives are not a common sight in TRU.... :D

I prefer to use a large stuffed toy and just belt hell out of any kid or likely collector that gets in my way. it's a little more humane and leaves no damage. I can also reccomend taking a few friends along to stand around you while you rifle through the pegs for stuff you want. It keeps any other hunters away because they can't get near until you're done. Or just take along a whole bunch of excitable young kids and instruct them to run rampage up and down the aisle while you hunt the pegs. it puts most people off outright. :crazed:

I am not going after the entire line like I tried to with EpI. It's just going to be whatever I think is neat from the movie. More than likely I will buy the snap on armor Fett, Zam Wessel, Clonetrooper. More of the main characters and not multiples of the same character. If they come out with 4 Kenobi's in the same outfit I am probably just going to buy one version and that's it. I doubt I will buy Slave I because I already have the vintage and SOTE/POTF version. I will break down and buy the Jedi Starfighter. It's just going to be a lot less buying from me. More of wait and see what they make attitude. There is no way I can keep up with an entire line that features so many resculpts. Apparently that is Hasbro's plans with anything Star Wars.

I will be there on with my conceal weapon permit and weapon. I will beat the little one's and hold off the other intill my brother collect the figures.

I'll maybe get the Jango if it looks good, initially. Other than that, I have really no interest in e2 products. If they go on sale again after a few months, I might pick up a few more, but not that many. I've never bought multiples, and I open almost everything. So I don't even worry about that.

If I see the Slave I on sale, I might get that too, but I won't spend $40 bucks on it.

For the EP1 MM sale I took a baseball bat to make sure I got what I wanted and I can say I got everything I wanted at the time :)

My plan is intially to buy only the figures that look good and do not buy too heavily into Hasbro's new love affair with stupid gimics (i.e.; "Lightsabre in Arm Anakin, Magno-Manos Obi-Wan, Jumbo Armor "Deluxe" Jango Fett), and await the inevitable, hopefully toned-down, resculpts of the core characters. I love the Star Wars line from the vintage line to the present day. I have every vintage figure produced (barring variants). However, with POTF2 and the resculpt tendancies, I ceased to collect every single figure. Instead, I bought only single versions of each character, only buying a new version if it was unique (Dejarak Chewie) or a vast improvement on the first release (Bespin Han, Chewie Mechanic). I plan to do the same with the newest lines. This is part of the reason that I personally welcome resculpts, at least of those figues in need of improvement (Hoth Han, "Mambo" Lobot), though not those that do not (was there really any intrensic difference between the first release Anakin and "MechAnikan?).
Needless to say, the splayed leg, built-in gimic approach of many initial release figures is going to save me a bundle early on, which is good, as there are vehicles and beasts I want, and EI cost me plenty at the outset. Vehicle and beast lines do not have staying power (apart from exclusives, when did we last have a vehicle?), unlike the single, carded figures. My only real hope is that Hasbro stays true to their word and does not eschew the previous four films and their characters in favor of an AOTC-centric line, which would undermine the purpose of the unified Star Wars branding. Why go to just "Star Wars" on the card, instead of Attack of the Clones, and then do just AOTC characters?

Yeah but with the trend leaning towards a long term forecast of bow legged figures, what can we expect of the classic figures due out later in the year:

Salsa magic Ephant Mon,
Bespin battle-Tango Luke,
karate death leg Han Solo Endor,
Synchronised swimming team Cantina patron 2-packs,
Shake a tail feather Maul,
Harlem shuffle Vader,
Twistin' Rebel Officer..........

I thought Bespin escape lando was bad for a one pose figure but the legs on the ep2 figs are so bad on the most part I'm thinking of a load of POTF2 figures to swap legs with and customise each of them so the actually stand and don't crouch ina crapped their pants way. It's pretty sad when people who don't collect and have relatively little interst in toys turn round and say they look bad. I daren't ask my nephews what they think now. I'm afraid I might make them cry out in anguish and trail off in despair........

I plan to buy them all as soon as I can. I just love them, no matter how they look as long as they are somewhat decent. I want them now. I don't care how they are posed. Blah. I gotta get 'em.:crazed:

And......no, I am not addicted......never.......no way.......umm...................:crazed: :crazed: :crazed: :sur:

Lets not get crazy people. I won't hurt someone to get toys, but I will buy most of this new line as I have with the last two.
