That's great. I'll be ordering a V-wing for the kid for X-mas... he'll be really surprised. :)

I may have to try and get a couple of these from the shop although I still don't think the Slave I is a $50 LEGO set.

Darn! I've already sent my letter to Santa. Looks like I've have to get these in the new year.

Darn! I've already sent my letter to Santa.Well, you know Santa watches you. (He's watching you right now.) If you're good, very good... you know, maybe since he's watching you, you could hold up a sign or something and he could add a few things to your letter.

Oh, don't think he doesn't watch you also... he watches us all. He's creepy like that. :)

Why not? The Jango version this is based on was, and it had 200 less pieces than this. I must admit though, the spring-loaded missile launcher in the middle does give me pause.

I must admit though, the spring-loaded missile launcher in the middle does give me pause. There just doesn't appear to be much substance to it. It also doesn't appear to have much playability with the exception of the missle launcher. I think about $10 or so of the price is paying for the Dengar and IG-88.

But those minifigs aren't really new. They're just made from existing Legos with a new, although minor, paintjob. I think the price is elevated, though. I think about $40 would be about right.

Oh sure, now they put them up after I order a bunch of stuff during their Thanksgiving sale.

I'm hoping against hope that my local TRU will get these in to coincide with a before xmas BOGO 50% sale or something.

From what I read over on FBTB.net, stores like WM and TRU should have these sets in 1-2 weeks- and I beleive the ad I saw for BOGO said the sales goes from 4th to the 10th

When we were at TRU, we watched them unload boxes, and I asked the merchandising person if they had any new Star Wars sets. She said, "No, this is all they've got right now." Which I assume meant that more was coming.

I see what you guys mean, but it's just over 500 pieces, that spells a $50 set, it doesn't seem overpriced to me.

My local TRU's is running the buy 1 get 1 50% sale right now until the 10th I think. I picked up two scout walkers mostly for the clones also found the Mars Rover which regular is like $90 dollors its been marked down for like a year at $49 dollors but found it today marked down to $12 so grabed the last 2, one for $12 and 1 for $6 dollors not bad for a near 900 piece set.
also guess because of the sale and Xmas the StarWars lego shelves are almost empty.

I found the entire line-up of January 2006 Star Wars LEGO sets (http://tinypic.com/iogc4p.jpg) at TRU today. It was so nice to see Original Trilogy vehicles on store shelves again after a year of prequel stuff! Sure, the ships may be redesigns of older releases, but I still couldn't hide my excitement and bought one of each. Packaging artwork is striking with a blend of old and new: the top banner has the ROTS Vader helmet overlooking a fiery lava planet juxtaposed with the classic silver Star Wars logo.

Box photos of the mini-figs:

The LEGO aisle at TRU was packed at lunch today with moms and grandparents. Fortunately a LEGO rep was there fielding questions and hunting down product for customers. After seeing me with my arms full of new SW sets she began deferring questions about SW to me. So I had to explain what sets were from what movies and helped some beleaugured parents pick out a pair of "bad guy" and "good guy" sets.

After noticing that a couple of ROTS sets had sold out on LEGO Shop@Home (Wookie Catamaran), while others were on backorder, I asked the rep if she knew if some sets in the line were going to be discontinued. She didn't know, but she said they were such high selling product for this year she wouldn't be surprised if the ROTS sets continued production.

She mentioned that they were getting Batman but was surprised when I told her about LEGO getting the Spongebob license as well. We flipped through the 2006 retailer catalog but it didn't have the System Sail Barge or Star Destroyer.

Awesome find Ji'dai. I can't wait to see these chillin' on the shelves. It's been far too long since I've seen a decent OT set on the shelves. I haven't bought but one ROTS set (for lack of money not interest) but I'll probably pick these up the minute I see 'em.
