I opened some "Come look at these hot girls" link in one of the bulletins, and got something that has been using me to post bulletins titled "Adult Free Games". If you get this, delete it.

I just sent you a friend invite JJB. I'm that Jonathan fellow.

Btw all, I just redid my myspace page for the first time since I signed up (over six months ago). I'm still putting the final touches on it, but swing by and check it out and let me know what you think. My page (http://www.myspace.com/ukwildcat80). It's best viewed in IE.

Alot of you are probably wondering why you received friend requests from me again..well long story short it was a combination of spam/other issues ( i know i shouldve just blocked the person) so i made my page back up. thanks to those who added me back!!

just wanted everyone to know what was going on.

I apologize, sweetheart. I've been having troubles as of late with new friend requests, comment and message alerts not being sent to my email. I visit every day, but quicker if I know something is waiting for me.

BTW, JimmyJam, congrats on cracking the exclusive "Top 24"!

I just now hit 100 friends. And all of those are actually friends (be it internet or real life) and none of them fake porn ad ones (I'm not about to get what frett got from them...;)).

I still visit Myspace several times per day and I'm always getting comments and messages so I'm having fun with it still.

so what exactly can we post in reply to? I see people replying to posts others make on the original person's blog...but we aren't allowed to post replies on our own stuff, eh? That sucks.

So for example, if Slicker is being a douchebag and posts something mean on my thing, I can only delete it and not reply. But if I post a blog and said douchebag appears, I CAN reply? Same with pic comments, I can't reply to those either.

And why is that MySpace site so sucky at times? I don't like how it gets sluggish on me for random periods of time.

plasticfetish
10-02-2006, 09:00 PM
Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't really use <p> ever. You can line break <br> as many times as you need. If you want you can put a blank space &nbsp; in front of the <br> also.

I'd recommend that some of you guys grab a book on HTML, just to learn the basics. You can really learn a lot by looking at source code, and then fooling around on your own with Notepad also. (As long as your Notepad program lets you save as an HTML file.)

I mostly participate in groups over there - Transformers, the kidney disease support group, etc. and chat with several friends that don't post here. I bring the good / funny stuff I discover back here to SSG - like YouTube videolinks to Darth Chad and whatnot.

MySpace best serves its purpose for all of us as a backup link as it did when SSG was down

MySpace has so much traffic on their servers that it's best to use that site late at night if you're on the Pacific. Early in the AM I suppose for those on the East Coast. If you're in the Midwest, go to Friendster or FaceBook or something else.

They're Slicker's mom. Oh, wait...

They're the friend requests you get from the girl you "watched on her webcam last night" or the girl who "thinks you look totally cute on your profile tee hee", usually featuring a picture of a girl who you instantly recognize as the chick you rubbed it to on a porn site the previous evening.

01-09-2008, 10:48 AM
Wait, you guys get HUMAN pornbots?

I usually get naked pictures of moles or sloths or something with friend requests saying, "Remember me from last night?"

There are a lot of animals that don't wear any kind of clothes. MySpace does nothing to censor naked pictures of animals, you know.

So then I check my bed for clumps of fur and broken pieces of foilage / underbrush that may from the night before, prior to me deleting or responding.

BTW, I resent the inference that I'm in anyway aroused by road kill. I don't meet deer by hitting them with my car.

Now that one profile of the very much LIVING ardvark was awfully cute. I can't remember whether the other one was a sheep or a goat but for the life of me, though. I'm thinking she was a sheep though. There was a lot of alcohol involved with that night...

I still check every few days, but it's nothing like it used to be. Very few of my good friends in "real life" are actually on there anyway, and I talk to most other people through other means of communication, so I rarely use it compared to how I did around a year ago or so.

I seem to check facebook more often, but still, not very much.

Tycho
01-09-2008, 06:55 PM
I'm not on Facebook or Friendster. Enough is enough. I have other things to do at the keyboard than be involved with a ton of these competing social network sites.

MySpace every day, several times a day (because I check all the controversial stuff I post to debate on) is good enough for me.

CaptainSolo1138

I'm not on Facebook or Friendster.
I don't have a Friendster, but I love Facebook. The new applications have long since reached the ridiculous point, but many of them tend to make you page fun. For instance, I have the sports betting one (I'm not much of a gambler but I find this to be enjoyable) and check it every day. I also have a couple fantasy hockey ones and several "fan" apps that display your favorite team(s) and player(s).

Personally, I'd recommend you check it out, Tycho.

I registered for a MySpace about a year and a half ago, but at the time it was only to help expose all the fake Matt Hughes MySpace accounts out there. I would send a message to all the top friends of the fake accounts and let them know that it was a fake.

Eventually Matt and I decided that it would be best to just set up a real Matt Hughes MySpace and I did that last year. Mainly just to help divert search engine traffic that we were losing inside MySpace. Since people would just go to MySpace, type "matt hughes" into the search and get caught up in a fake account, never realizing that there was an official website out there.

There are ways to report "identity theft" to MySpace, but it takes foever for the admin to respond and it doesn't stop the person running the fake account from just setting up a new fake account once his has been deleted.

So, it's Matt's MySpace, but since I run the day to day activities of approving friends, comments, etc. it's almost like it's my MySpace. Ideally, it should just function as a glorified link to the website, but because of Matt's book tour for his autobiography, we've had to spruce it up a bit.

and as a teacher, the less access my students have to my personal life, the better.Ah, yes. The "digital dirt". I'm going through the student teaching application process right now and every meeting and seminar I've attended thus far has made a point to mention that we need to be careful with Myspace/Facebook stuff. Isn't that why you get the option of a private profile?

Tycho
01-18-2008, 01:11 AM
My profile came up when they cited it during my background check for a position with the NSA that I was applying for.

I was blogging about drilling holes in my head so that I could eat my own brain. It was all perfectly logical though.

You see, humans only actually use a fraction of their actual brains. I logically figured that since I was wasting so much of mine, I could consume it, thereby creating brain-food to strengthen the portions of my brain I actually was using.

They locked me up, strapped me down, and administered drug therapy treatments for that. How unreasonable can you get? I just explained why I was drilling holes in my head and eating my own brain. Didn't my reason sound perfectly logical to you?

By the way, they confiscated my power tools. Anyone have a Sears Craftsman electric drill I could borrow?

El Chuxter
01-18-2008, 01:17 AM
No. I think mine's a Norelco.

The thing about using only a portion of your brain is a myth, though. I wouldn't recommend eating any of it. You might forget how to pee. Or, worse, how to stop.

I have now come to adjust the cliche' "opinions are like _______; everybody's got them" into "blogs or 'self' webpages are..." You know, there are just some things that don't need to be revealed. That's my reason for not being so public about everything I do/say/desire/etc. Others can do it, feel free to do so. But I'm not interested, in doing it myself, or reading them.

Ah, yes. The "digital dirt". I'm going through the student teaching application process right now and every meeting and seminar I've attended thus far has made a point to mention that we need to be careful with Myspace/Facebook stuff. Isn't that why you get the option of a private profile?A journal that you keep in your home is private. A page published online can be listed "private," but it can be read by someone. A diary/journal has to be shared knowingly. I'm just not gung ho about telling everyone things about me; that's why I'll never be a celebrity. But I'm working on that reclusive author. ;)

Tycho
01-18-2008, 10:48 AM
Well Bel-Cam, you can private message me for tips on drilling holes in your head and recipes you can prepare with human brains, OK?

I don't share this information with everyone you know.

Bel-Cam Jos
01-18-2008, 11:02 AM
That was a blanket statement, sent out to everyone on this site, as a test to see if anyone would think it was directed at them. See? I made a statement of my own views, and it was considered to be intended for specific people. There's why I keep stuff to myself. No judgment on others' views or decisions; simply a justification of my own views and decisions.

Tycho, if you teach me how to drill into my head, then everybody'll know all my secrets! : only10%ofmybrain: ;)
