I was surprised with a set of Star Wars mini-fig magnets (http://tinypic.com/j6mn1u.jpg) on Christmas morning. My brother's fiancee bought them at the LEGO Store in Chicago. I didn't even know these things existed!

They resemble regular mini-figs, have removable accessories, etc., but the torso is magnetic and will adhere to any steel surface. You can stick 'em on the fridge to hold up your kid's artwork, pizza coupons (http://tinypic.com/j6mn8w.jpg), or whatever the heck you attach to the ice box.

My set included Episode III Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and a green-striped Clone Trooper. Apparently there are other sets and they cost $10 each, which is a little prohibitive for only three tiny figures. Still, I think they're pretty nifty.

Freaking cool! I love magnets, I have tons of magnets on my fridge, including one of Watto flying in front of his shop. I wasn't aware that there was a Lego store in Chicago. I saw one once in Orlando, and I was giddy and loved drooling over the SW lego sets.

According to the LEGO Store Finder (http://www.lego.com/legostores/default.asp?x=x&selCountry=United%20States&selStore=*) there are four LEGO Stores in Illinois: Chicago, Woodfield, Northbrook, and Schaumburg. The Chicago store is located on 520 N. Michigan Avenue, 3rd Floor. Michigan Ave. - isn't that downtown, the famed "The Magnificent Mile?"

How very, very odd. I had never heard of them either. Nor have I found them on the S@H site.

Odd because Woodfield mall is in Schaumburg. Don't know about "The Magnificent Mile" location though, or if that address is in that vicinity.
