Actually, I have a Bugs Bunny on Broadway CD and Rabbit of Seville is on it. I should show it to my daughter, she really likes Bugs...but as far as "classic" cartoons go, I think she is more of a Tom & Jerry and Scooby Doo fan.

One of the reasons I love classical music today is due to those cartoons. I saw the "Rabbit of Seville" recently on Cartoon Network. Many Tom & Jerry episodes had classical scores as well.

They probably did it because the music is in the public domain. Don't have to pay any royalties to anyone :greedy: :D

There's a really interesting documentary on one of the DVD sets. They reveal that the original Merrie Melodies cartoons were created to advertise Warner's music catalogue holdings. Most of the songs that you hear in the Looney Tunes cartoons were either owned by them or were public domain.

I have that Bugs on Broadway CD and was listening to it today, which is what led me to posting this. I also have two Carl Stalling discs that are simply amazing to listen to! :thumbsup:

You just have to appreciate the sheer mayhem of these cartoons. They were clever and smart and didn't require 30 minutes to get to the point. I think that a lot of today's cartoon, while good in many cases, completely miss the point of how less is clearly more.

I used to watch all the old toons as a kid thanks to my insane uncle who worshipped Wil E Coyote and roadrunner. Daffy duck has always been my favourite. Daffy pited against Bugs was always a great laugh. Tom and Jerry are great. those original toons blast modern toons out of the water. Chuck Jones and Tex Avery have left the world a ripe feast of entertainment. They basically wrote the book on every sight and audio gag.

No doubt!!!! I spent a good bit of the last couple days just watching 5 shorts from each disc. :) Good fun!!

Tex Avery practically makes me pee. GREAT sight gags in those old catroons.

I don't care for Tex Avery myself. He totally ripped off Jim Carrey's character in The Mask.
