An estimation, perhaps?

I hope they have more than the first four waves on display at the NY Toy Fair. I kind of doubt that there'll be 80 . . .

80 is NOT happening at my house. I don't care how many they release.

I believe that they will end up with 80 figures. Take a look at all the figures we have right now:

Wave 1: 6 figures
Wave 2: 6 figures
Wave 3: 8 figures
Wave 4: 10 figures

That will quickly become 80 as the year progresses.

Wave 4 has a lot of re-issues in it.

That's how they'll get 80 figures. They never said 80 NEWfigures. Considering the pace of the waves' releases thus far, I can see there being enough for 80 figures (especially if they count multi-packs and exclusives)

Hopefully we'll get most of our questions about this answered at TF.

i hope they release different types of clones.

I hope 80 is a complete count for the year - including the repacks, exclusives, vehicle pack-ins, etc. That would be easier to stomach (and afford).

But counting 4 waves of the same Vader will not equal 80 and so on.

Same Vader, different card = totally different figure

C'mon...you know that makes sense in someone's twisted logic somewhere!! :)

Now, I'm sure they aren't counting each assortment that Darth Vader (Hoth) appears in for example.

They only have 8 or so listed waves for this year. Each wave does not include ten figures. Thats what it would average out to be. So I can only conclude that they are counting the Vader-esque re-issues over and over. Unless they will announce more waves at TF.

I think we will hear about more waves at Toy Fair. The waves we've heard about thus far...I think that may be either the first half or three-quarters of the year. I can't remember a time when we've known the entire year's lineup in January. They save things specifically for Toy Fair.

Considering the amount of effort they're putting into this new Saga Collection, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they're planning on releasing a massive amount of figures this year. 2005 was a watershed year for merchandise...there's hardly anything that made it to clearance. And so far this year has been the same (at least in my area). Only the Transformers and Customs bikes are sitting around (as expected).

I am not going to doubt 80 figures. We are already getting 30, and it is the start of February. I wish toyfair would get here soon.

I was wondering if the 80 includes the repacks or if that is just the new figures that are being released ? If it's just the new then all I can say is WOW.

to be honest i believe there will be more then 80 figures. If you look at the packaging on the figure, it has space for Three numbers. meaning Number one says 001. There is no need for the first 0 Unless they plan on making enough of these using the same exact packaging meaning the will consits of at least 100 figures. This is just a theory i have heard. It may actualy have some truth or not. I guess we wont knoe for a while huh.

Welcome to the boards VidKidd. it very well may be 100, but that would average 8-9 per wave for 12 waves. I hope they really dont over due it like that unless they plan alot of repacks.

Wave 2 (Hoth wave) had 8 figures. Darth Vader is #13 and the Gonk Droid is #14. For some reason I could not stop myself from pointing that out.

Probably just my perfectionist nature.

I can see 80 easy. With the 8 waves of the basic line they announced I count 50 figures which at one wave a month will end around july. Add 5 for VOTC. That just leaves 25. With exclusives Kir Kanos, GL Stormtrooper, Clonetrooper con exclusive, Grevious demise, Lucas family 4 pack, and Snow oufit Amidala you get down to 16. With a low estimate of 4 figures per value pack Skirmish in the Senate, Gen Windu's Squadron, Demise of Boba Fett, and Demise of the Senate. Well that's 80. I almost forgot the Greatest Hits line which you might count for another 12 or 16 (I can't remeber since I couldn't care less about this line). Now I'm not going to claim I know all of these are definately coming out or that my numbers are rock solid, so don't jump on my calculations trying to poke holes. This is just from my personal list of rumors that I believe have some merit to them. That being said when they say 80 figures I assume they mean the basic line since that is the only thing they number. And since they are on their wave a month schedule I can easily see then tacking on another 30 figures (4 or 5 wave aug-dec) to what is semi confirmed already. I do believe that number will include repaints and repacks but still the same line. Hopefully we can get some news at Toy Fair.

With those preview pics that Hasbro has posted of their Toy Fair display, it looks as though the majority of these 80+ figures will either be kit-bashed or repacks. Oh well...more money for Sideshow's 12 inch line. :)
