It looks like a floating DS image might be reality. Man, how cool would that be to have floating around your game room?

Death Star? Forget that and think Porn Star....

Imagine this: Porn Star A...we'll call her Luminescence...puts on a sensor suit which translates her real time movements into data which is then sent via high speed internet to plasma generator owners all over the world. At the moment, it looks like she can be just one color, but in time, "true color" reproductions will make it possible for strip clubs to take place in the privacy of your own home.

That is a really cool item, I hope this one is real - we've gotten a lot of phoney 3D holoprojector claims in the last 15 years, but this looks to be the real mccoy. Thanks for the link!

Now if they could also incorporate a mechanical "whir" when the moon passes by.

It would be cool if they applied that to Cinema. Imagine seeing a 3D movie without the glasses. Or being in the midst of a 4D movie. Then maybe later, much later, a Holodeck.

Its an impressive looking device. For them to apply such a thing to video games or movies though is still quite a ways off.

Kind of cool, I guess. The looks like technology could go somewhere, but looks a long ways off before it's consumer ready. Some 3D art displays that just float in the air would be cool.

it also has the possibility of being used for internet shopping. imagine being able to see around the items you want to purchase. check out the features and get a real idea of dimensions.

the possibilty of holographic messaging systems also crosses my mind.

though that sort of technology is a billion miles away from this point. I'm not ready to talk to a little swirl of light dots just yet. To me this is just another form of those baton things you wave in front of you that leave an after image of words. God knows what they're called but the principle is basically the same only this here projector is immobile. to really get a good image you'd need a load of these things each with different parts of an image to display.

it's interesting and something to keep an eye on but I'm not getting excited just yet. I'm still waiting for a decent video phone to hit the market.
