I got this from IMDB...........

Star Trek' Caught in Black Hole
Plans to revive Paramount's Star Trek (http://imdb.com/title/tt0060028/) movie franchise have come undone after a screenplay for Star Trek: The Beginning by Erik Jendresen (http://imdb.com/name/nm0420701/) (Band of Brothers (http://imdb.com/title/tt0185906/)) was rejected, according to Dreamwatch magazine. In an interview with Doug Mirabello (http://imdb.com/name/nm0591963/), the personal assistant to longtime Star Trek (http://imdb.com/title/tt0253754/) executive producer Rick Berman (http://imdb.com/name/nm0075834/), the magazine also asked about reports that Patrick Stewart (http://imdb.com/name/nm0001772/) had agreed to appear in the next Star Trek film. Mirabello replied, "From what I've heard, Patrick wouldn't do another Trek movie unless they paid him Professor X money," referring to the character Stewart plays in the 20th Century Fox X-Men (http://imdb.com/title/tt0120903/) movies. (His salary for those films has not been publicly disclosed.)

Yeah, I was about to come report the same thing. Berman is a fool for wanting a prequel Trek movie after his prequel Trek show bombed so badly, so I am utterly shocked that this prequel movie project has tanked. It's Trek's 40th anniversary and the franchise seems deader than ever.

Berman is a fool period. I hold him personally responsible for driving the franchise into the ground. Paramount needs to fire him and get some new blood producing the next film or series that retains the spirit of the original series instead of making it so PC and boring.

Kirk Lives!

I agree. BRING BACK KIRK! Have him get reunited with Spock in the Next Generation era. Leave Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura in the past. McCoy and Scotty could have passed away in the Next Generation era by now (given that they passed away in real life).

Have Spock and McCoy runaround with Picard and Riker in a big shoot 'em up like Wrath of Khan the way Generations should have been. Horatio Hornblower style as JediTricks is always saying.

Oh wait, they killed Data. Screw it. BRING BACK DATA AND KIRK!

As long as it's not based on DS9 or any other non-TNG group, I'll give it a shot.

And of course Jendresen's script was rejected, probably too good of a script for this series.

They already brought Scotty into TNG and he was last seen heading off into unknown space by himself because he felt displaced in time. Since Jimmy Doohan passed away last year, we can assume Scotty met his fate in deep space.

DeForrest Kelly is dead. McCoy won't be back. In the TNG era he was like 120 years old or something and was so decrepit that, well.. you know...

I'm all for bringing back Kirk because he died a lame-***** death on the Nexus planet. Heck, I'd love to bring back Spock. Truth is Nimoy is looking really old now. Shat looks pretty good for is age. Just a little pudgy and gray but not bad for someone who is like 75 years old. But as much as I want to see Kirk make his comeback, it will likely never happen. It would be almost as big of a joke as Harrison Ford making Indy 4.

They could always cast young actors to play young Kirk and Spock and do the Academy adventures but it wouldn't be the Shat. But at least it would be our beloved characters "in-spirit."

Personally, I want to see them do the 5-year mission of the Enterprise under command of Captain Christopher Pike. And what would be really novel is if they decided to go with a completely retro production design by trying to keep the costumes and look of the ship similar to the 60's but with digital FX shots. I think they could pull it off.

I think they should make a movie where the TNG crew, including Kirk and Spock, are somehow whisked into the real world of the present day and find themselves trapped in a Trek convention, trying to hunt down KAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHN!!!!!!!

I would totally enjoy a young Kirk if they had someone playing it like Shatner, totally overacting and emphasizing what he said, but dead serious about the whole thing.

I agree! Using the retro look of the Original series would be great. The Tribbles episode of DS9 was great. One of the things that really irritated me about the Enterprise TV show was that they seemed much more advanced than the original series. I didn't see Enterprise ever leading up to the Original Series.

I say erase what they did to Data in the new movie. Use Q if they need to. Have Q visit the crew, meet B-4, become annoyed, say he liked Data better, snap his fingers and have Data standing in B-4's place, and REFUSE to undo it. BRING BACK DATA, by any means necessary - plot flaw, Q, whatever. I don't care. Nemesis was a travesty.

Q could bring back Kirk. Q could bring back Khan. Use Q to make a really great Star Trek movie.

It sounds more like a TV movie, but I could enjoy a story of Captain Sulu, post Star Trek VI.

I could never get into the Q storylines. With dudes like that running around, it makes the whole idea of life seem pointless....

Rick Berman = Star Trek Nazi

Berman should be the last person in charge of a Trek project since he's the one that ran it into the ground in the first place.

Nemesis, but don't watch it. Do yourself a favor and rewatch Wrath of Khan instead.

(I really liked Nemesis)

BUT, they should have done the signoff like the Original Cast did at the end of The Undiscovered Country.
