This week VH1 will be counting down the top 100 toys. I just saw 110-101 and they left of the following:

My Buddy
Fisher Price Doctor Kit
Merlin
Pictionary
Clackers
Power Rangers.

You can go vh1.com and check out the top ten neglected list in video format.

The shows are Mon-Fri at 10 pm

Since Power Rangers is on there, I have to think that ol' SW will be as well.

This will be a fun show, but really . . . retire the dang format already!

No JJL, that is the left off list. You can add Micro Machines to the left off list. I cant understand how they can say PR is not in the top 100 when its been going since '94. SW will be on there. I can bet ya #1 is hot wheels. :P :beard:

Ah, Little Golden Books. I have fond memories of reading several of their titles.

The Gingerbread Man book haunts me to this day.

How can Pong be that low? In and of itself its not that great but isn't it the Greatgranddady of video games?!?!? :upset:

I'm disappointed by the absence of Adult Toys on this list.
Oh wait, #95 and #99 cover that base, never mind. :)

Also, Shrinky Dinks better get some love or I'll be hella mad.

The inclusion of board games changes the whole perspective of the list. I wouldnt and never thought of board games as toys.

What about hybrids like Hungry Hungry Hippos or Mouse Trap ?

Board game-esque with various play elements involved.

Dang, I was watching the premiere episode of 61 through 80. I am sick, and fell asleep just before it started. Woke up and Flava Flav was on.

I dont know why they ranked Tranformers so low? I figured Barbie would be up there as well as Hot Wheels, but Hula Hoop at #1?

Rocketboy

#7? WTF?
Every time you walk down the aisle and see pegs and pegs of figures, you pretty much have Star Wars to thank/blame.

Kidhuman

The only reason I see it at #7 is because the others have been around a helluva lot longer. They actually showed monkey faced Leia on the show.

I just finished watch this and all I can say is lame. Hula Hoop as number 1? Come on! I can see it the the top 10, but number 1? Get real.

I thought Barbie would be number one for sure. I knew GI Joe (12" or 3 3/4") would out rank Star Wars and LEGO would our rank the Joes. I was hoping that Lego would be number 2 (but number 3 isn't too bad).

Any one else catch how they were talking about vintage SW toys for the most part, but never show any of the hosts with real vintage figures? The close they came was the '96 repack. Too cheap to spring for the real thing I guess.

I noticed the lack of vintage myself LS. I nearly wet myself when monkey face popped up.

hula hoops are awesome, every home should have one.

Keep in mind these were voted on by VH1 viewers, and VH1 is for old people like me, who still remember when Hula Hoops were invented! J/K! I'm just Glad Star Wars toys ranked in the top 10. Now I'll just have to wait for one of the many VH1 repeats of that series. KH, I hope you copied that list, and didn't just write it down as it happened, then type it here.

I think your living in the past. Nearly every time I scroll past VH1 in the on-sceen guide they're showing crap that could as easily be on MTV. That is junk at aimed at people my age, 20's crowd. Very rarely to do I see something like the old VH1. You old farts may have stuffed the ballet box with plastic hoops, but there had to be a big teen and 20's voting block for TMNT to rank so high.

I don't see a nerf crotch bat on the list. That's weird since every home should have one.

Kidhuman
03-11-2006, 10:42 PM
Nerf was done under one category. Thats why no specifics.

Frett, if you go to Vh1.com and scan I love toys, it will bring it up episode by episode. I copied and pasted.

They replayed the episode with toys 1 through 20 (or 20 through 1), and I was at work watching this, but got sent out on a delivery just as they reached toy #10. By the time I got back, it was past the Star Wars figures, and they were on the Mr. Potato head. I missed the Monkey Faced Leia.

We can debate about this one and that one but why was Bag-o-glass left off the list? I have fond memories of spending my weekends in the infirmary because of that lovely childhood toy

That is another awesome item that every home should have.

I'm been trying to collect some old board games of the fun variety....so far I have Fireball Island (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ujgywX-z9c), Forbidden Bridge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdbyR5zcrHU), Loopin Louie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYnf9y31RoY), and Back Off Buzzard (http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic126773_md.jpg). Anyone know any other fun games like this from the 80s or 90s?

I loved Forbidden Bridge back in the day!

I shan't post a link due to language, but the Angry Video Game Nerd guy has done a series of videos called Board James where he plays old board games from the 80s and 90s. It's pretty fun stuff.

I ended up finding said Tornado Rex, but I need a new top/clear piece for my spinner. Some of the plastic has broken off making the spinner not spin at all. :( Any help is appreciated!
