Funeral Padme.... with floating casket!!??...... hmmm...

You guys that want my Yarna vote better do some fast talking.....For me, this Padme is the most interesting figure on the list....

(Considering that Galactic Marine ("Clone Commander"), Commander Neyo, Hermi Odle, Kir Kanos, Luke Skywalker, and Padmé Amidala (Ilum cold gear) are all rumoured anyways - and most of the other EU figs are "meh" in my opinion.)

You can vote twice you will just have to clear out your Internet Cookies first, however if someone votes a bunch of times for the same thing that is lame. It wouldn't be so bad if you voted twice (an option A & B type of thing)

Are you sure they don't keep track by recording your computer's IP address. Seems as though that would be a better system of control...although people could just hit multiple computers. Still, it'd be more difficult and probably discourage a substantial number of people.

BTW, Darth Malak got my vote (Nihilus and Revan would've been my other choices). I'm hoping for a joint KOTOR/KOTOR 2 wave down the line.

Hermi for prez in '07.

I can see an online mulitpack for KOTOR/KOTOR II but I don't see a wave going over well at retail unless they do it with the release of KOTOR III (if that is in the works).

Darth Cruel
03-15-2006, 03:26 PM
I ALMOST waffled. I read "super articulated Darth Maul" and "super articulated Jedi Luke" and almost had to go with one of those as that is my primary gripe...poor articulation. Then I saw how hot Bastilla Shan is and thought a hot lady definitely has a place in my collection and then I remembered that Leia and Padme were both pretty hot as well and all of their action figures suck so I couldn't vote with a clear conscience for Hasbro to insult another pretty lady.

And having no interest whatsoever in any of the other characters (I even turned away from my Galactic Marine as I just don't like the snowtrooper-style face rag) I went with Neyo. At least he'll fit better in a diorama.

It did occur to me while I was voting that it may be entirely my fault that yarna got the popularity she has now. Because I didn't get a common-sense anti-yarna campaign going when I saw the silliness starting.

I'm just wondering what the deal is with Yarna? I have no problem with people voting for her, I don't think any of these choices would make a "bad" figure but are people voting for her just to finish a jabba's palace diorama or is there more to it?

The following is an article I sent to both Steve and JT. I had hoped to have it posted as a news article, but in the meantime it bears repeating here:

The ToyFare Figure Poll-The Why's and Why not's of voting for them:

Anakin Solo
Why we should vote for him: As one of the Solo children he later plays a vital role to the Republic. Whether this is the kid version or older version, if he is made, then it’s almost a lock that his siblings are too. So a vote for him is like a vote for all three of them
Why we should NOT vote for him: To obscure for the mainstream fan. Those who don’t read the novels are going to say What the heck? Who’s this?

Bastila Shan
Why we should vote for her: As with many others on this poll is she is made it’s a virtual lock that some other characters from this video game will be made. She’s a good character and a female character which have been asked for more in the last couple of years.
Why we should NOT vote for her: As with many others on this poll is she is made it’s a virtual lock that some other characters from this video game will be made. The problem with that is that it may detract from more mainstream and recognizable characters from the film being made sooner if at all.

Clone Commander (Galactic Marine)
Why we should vote for him: He’s a clone! And an Army builder.
Why we should NOT vote for him: He’s a clone! And an Army builder. Which means that if Hasbro short packs him like the current Scorch and more especially the Utapau clone, we are going to be upset at the product availability. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that Hasbro will make this figure anyway, so many people are thinking this would be a wasted vote here.

Commander Neyo
Why we should vote for him: Same as the above clone. Although he plays a slightly more important role.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Same as above clone. Also since he’s not an army builder he won’t sell as fast...(he’ll still sell out, IMO though)

Corran Horn
Why we should vote for him: He’s a very important EU character and fairly popular. Making any EU character will open the door for others to be made. Also he’s a GREEN garbed Jedi, which would make him one of a kind.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Again not a mainstream chacter. While the fact that he’s a Jedi might help, if people don’t know who he is, they might not be apt to buying him.

Darth Malak
Why we should vote for him: A cool design for a Sith Lord (if removable lower jaw) and like Bastila earlier, if he’s made it paves teh wave for more KOTOR figures to be made.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Unless you’ve played the game you don’t know who he is and therefore he’s not that desireable. Kind of a weak costume.

Darth Maul
Why we should vote for him: It’s the SA version of him being proposed here. What’s not to love about that?
Why we should NOT vote for him: We just got a relatively good almost SA version in the Evolutions set. We don’t need him again.

Darth Nihilus
Why we should vote for him: Eerie design for a Sith Lord. Opens teh door for figs from KOTOR II
Why we should NOT vote for him: Even more vague of a character than Darth Malak. With the way his robes are, we might not get the poseability we want.

Darth Revan
Why we should vote for him/her: With the many possibilities for this character, if we get head swaps, many accessories, clip on armor then this would make an excellent Deluxe figure.
Why we should NOT vote for him/her: Hasbro did not say they would make a deluxe figure. Also if they only make one version with no head swaps that will tank this figure faster than the Titanic.

Exar Kun
Why we should vote for him: Early Jedi turned Sith. Can come with both double bladed BLUE saber and red sith saber. Opens the door for more EU characters.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Obscure to those who haven’t read the books. very Likely a pegwarmer if it isn’t made as an convention
/internet exclusive

Hermi Odle
Why we should vote for him: He’s BIG he’s ugly and he’ll help to flesh out your Jabba’s palace scene
Why we should NOT vote for him: Hasbro is not apt to making another figure of this size. (Unless sold as a deluxe) and there’s been no mention that the figure from the poll would be sold as a deluxe

HK-47-EU
Why we should vote for him: As with the other entries from KOTOR he opens the door for others. Also he’s a very cool early design. He likes to call humans ““Meatbag”, what’s not to love about a sarcastic droid!
Why we should NOT vote for him: Again that obscurity thing comes into play. However as a droid he does have a leg up on some of the other more obscure figs.

Jacen Solo
Why we should vote for him: Same reasons as Anakin Solo
Why we should NOT vote for him: Same as Anakin Solo

Jaina Solo
Why we should vote for her: Same as her brother, with one notable mention. It’s a female character, which has garnered more interest of late.
Why we should NOT vote for her: Same as her brothers

Kir Kanos
Why we should vote for him: Anotehr very cool design for the Royal Guard. He could come with removable helmet
Why we should NOT vote for him: I smell a rehash here. If Hasbro doesn’t make his armor specific to him and just repaints the ROTS one (while I wouldn’t mind), purists would have a FIT.

Kyle Katarn
Why we should vote for him: A strong character in teh EU realm. He was hard to come by the first time around, so he’s a welcome addition now
Why we should NOT vote for him: Has already been done once, many feel they want an all NEW character before going back and revisiting previously made ones. Even if those previous were poorly done.

Luke Skywalker
Why we should vote for him: SA version! This has long been asked for.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Again another rehash or kitbash. If it’s not the DEFINATIVE version he will PEGWARM

Mara Jade Skywalker
Why we should vote for her: Much the same reason as Kyle Katarn, and she’s a female!
Why we should NOT vote for her: Same reason as Kyle

Nom Anor
Why we should vote for him: Looks like an alien version of Vader! Opens the door for more NJO era figures especially the VONG
Why we should NOT vote for him: Too obscure of a character.

Padme Amidala-(Snow Bunny)
Why we should vote for her: We wants more, we wants! More Animated Clone Wars figures. It may extend this line.
Why we should NOT vote for her: Not likely to be made, since Hasbro is done with teh Clone Wars line. Also if she’s not made in the animated style and instead the realistic style, it won’t go over well with fans

Padme Amidala II-AOTC (Black dinner dress)
Why we should vote for her: Sleek, stylish and sexy! One of THEE Padme’s we really wanted from AOTC
Why we should NOT vote for her: May be too sexy for Hasbro’s standards afterall these are for kids, wink wink.

Padme Amidala-ROTS (funeral dress with capsule)
Why we should vote for her: One big reason, forget Padme, it’s the capsule we need! Making this one we could buy two and use the second capsule for Crispy Anakin!
Why we should NOT vote for her: She’s a dead person. Why make an “Action” figure of a dead person?

Quinlan Vos
Why we should vote for him: Argueably the most desired EU character since Aayla. He’s a renegade and a Jedi! But which version will we get. The pic shows the renegade
Why we should NOT vote for him: Due to his popularity, he’s ALMOST a sure lock to be made anyway. Some might argue a vote for him woudl be a wasted vote then

Willrow Hood
Why we should vote for him: What started out as a joke ha become almost an obsession with some. A rather obscure but highly desired character. He’s good background fodder for your Bespin scenes. Plus he’s an Original Trilogy character.
Why we should NOT vote for him: Too obscure.

Yarna D’al Gargan
Why we should vote for her: Almost made before she’s had a STRONG following. She too is an Original Trilogy figure. Once this figure is put to bed...(manufactured that is) many collectors can breath a sigh of relief.
Why we should NOT vote for her: Hasbro has stated on more than one occassion that his character would never see the light of day in plastic. While she’s a frontrunner, if they aren’t going to make her regardless, it may be a wasted vote.

Respectfully submitted,
Chris “Sal” Salerno
AKA jedi master sal

(I voted for several...with 2 votes for 2 of them) Hey I want to see some of them made and the more votes for teh ones I want made might mean that more than one of them actually DOES get made...)

My thunks:

Bastila Shan, Darth Malak, Darth Nihilus, Darth Revan, HK-47: No interest whatsoever. If they ever decide to release this on GameCube, I might take an interest. But for now, it's X-Box eliteism. As for Darths, I'd much rather have Darth Bane.

Darth Maul: Whaaaaa...? It's been how many months since the excellent Evolutions version? WTF?

Anakin Solo, Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo: While I'd like to see all three of these, picking one over the other two would be next to impossible. And there's no description whatsoever. Are we talking baby Anakin with nanny droid, Rogue Squadron Jaina, bearded Jacen, what?

Clone Commander (red snowtrooper from BF2), Commander Neyo: These are pretty much guaranteed anyway. Wasted vote here.

Corran Horn: Of all the EU characters, the one most likely to get my vote. But would it be CorSec Corran, Rogue Squadron Corran, Jedi Master Corran...?

Exar Kun: I may need to hand in my Official EU Fan Club Membership(TM) card, but I always found Exar Kun to be uber-lame.

Hermi Odle: Definite maybe. I want this big booger.

Kir Kanos: Already rumored, and seems more likely with the Black Hole Trooper now being confirmed. Also nothing more than a repaint of the ROTS Guard with a different weapon. Would be cool, but a waste.

Kyle Katarn, Mara Jade Skywalker: So they've been done before. Big whoop. We don't have Jedi Master versions of either. And Mara kicks arse. Kyle's a bit less cool, but I still wouldn't mind revisiting him.

Luke Skywalker - ROTJ SA: Necessary, but not as a Fan's Choice.

Nom Anor : Give us some descriptions already! Which Nom Anor? Nom Anor undercover as a Ringwraith, or in his disgustingly fugly Yuuzhan Vong attire? And only one Yuuzhan Vong seems useless.

Snow Bunny Padme, Padme-Black Dress AOTC, Padme-Funeral: I want all three, but I'm wondering if Hasbro will make them anyway. Maybe not, so this may be the best way to get them.

Quinlan Vos: Probably a close second to Corran as far as the EU figures go.

Willrow Hood: Pegwarmer extraordinaire. He would pegwarm like no one has pegwarmed before.

Yarna d'al Gargan: I really, really want this lady immortalized in plastic. This may be the only way to ever convince Hasbro that I'm not the only one.

So the only ones I'd even consider voting for are Yarna, Hermi, Corran, Quinlan, and the Padmes. Of those, I'm leaning toward Yarna.

Voted Yarna. We have alot of Jabba figs and the more the merrier. She is out front in Jabbas court at the top of the scene. We have the special edition dancers, we have Oola, we have Sy. She's the only dancer left to complete the scene, and she's alienish and from the Original Trilogy. What more!
Hermi is my second choice, but I think he's cool enough to eventually get made. I want Yarna!!!

Originally I voted for General Tagge but looks like hes a no show. So out of Yarna, Hermi, Willrow, the padmes, Luke Jedi and Darth Maul I voted for.............HERMI ODLE.

Why? A big obscure alien Hasbro would be otherwise disinclined to make. Yarna would come second - I do want her made but I just think Hermi would look better in my diorama for the meantime. Its cool that Willrow made the list...I'm just not sure I would really prioritise him over other similarly obscure characters. I'll buy him if and when he gets made.

I think the appearance of ROTJ Luke on the list is a great thing. Its not a wasted place. I do however think that at this stage we don't need to vote for him. Hasbro must now know that there is demand for a proper Jedi Luke figure and there is no reason to think they will hesitate in making one whether he comes close to topping this 25 figure list or not. So its best that some other lesser known character actually wins and gets made in the meantime.

I can't believe Darth Maul got on the list. Maybe I don't browse enough forums but I don't remember anyone saying they were going to vote for a new Maul. It totally took me by surprise that, evidently, people aren't happy with the Evolutions figure. A) why the hell not?!! and B) why not vote for an SA saber duel Obi-wan instead? At least the Evolutions Maul came close - the old Episode I Obi-wan figures have yet to be updated at all.

I really don't see Ice Cream Maker Guy warming the pegs any more than any of the other previous Fan Choice Winners did. I want Yarna and Hermi just as much as the next fan but this is my one and only shot to try to convince Hasbro to make an Willrow Hood figure, I'll be doing my darndest to rally support for my long desired cause

Yes, it was partly a joke in the beginning, but its also spread like a semi wildfire and has a pretty substantial cult following (as witnessed by even making the list to begin with).

All I am asking is that you at least consider a Vote Willrow Hood, I really believe Yarna and Hermi are right there on Hasbro's list for 2007 anyways while Willrow was never even on the radar. Just my 2 cents from an obsessed individual

i voted for bastila though i could've just as easily gone for malek or HK-47 (btw, sal it's not just "meatbag" but "organic meatbag" :p ).

the fact of the matter is that whatever figure "wins" the poll (i put that quotes b/c what if it turns out all the already rumored figures like galactic marine, neyo, padme ilum, kir kanos come out on top) i'll most likely buy as they are all pretty good choices.

The problem I'm having with this poll is that after requesting we be very specific on requests, the results don't give us much to go on. Nearly all the EU characters presented have multiple potential outfits for different stages of their story, and depending on which outfit would sway my vote.

My original vote was NJO Jaina in her dark-jedi wannabe stage but witht he pic presented who knows what outfit we'd get. And honestly, if it were Slave-Dancer MAra i'd be inclined to vote that way >>

As such, the list has given me many options I'm going to need to mull over, fun.

Once again, I'm voting Darth Malak.

...but you've gotta know that most if not all of these will be made at some point. Look at the words "Extended Universe" printed on the front of that '06 Comic-Con figure, (And Scorch come to think of it.) "Star Wars is forever" and that's how they're gonna do it.

I have not decided who to vote for yet. I do hope that with the SWS.com Lucas set, we can get the KOTOR/KORTOR II and Solo kids as a set sold online. This would take care of most figures on the poll, people can easily pass, and there will be no short-pack-one-per-case-figure. Have they even said if the winner will be a regular release, convention thing, or if it will have to be ordered through Toyfare?

Honestly, from these, I have to narrow it down to Nom Anor and Quinlan Vos. Probably Nom Anor.

Very good point. It just says 'Darth Maul'. Most people's reaction on here after seeing that was 'Darth Maul? Who the **** voted for Darth Maul?!! What outfit??? EU?? From the film? If so WHY???!!!!'

If he did win I would put money on hasbro using the old Bepsin Luke body (repainted) and they would probobly leave out the ice cream maker looking item and give him a friig'n blaster. Although I really could go for some new Darths, I had to vote for Quinlan Vos.

I'll buy three just on principle.

What is funny to me about the people who don't want to see a figure made of her is that pre-Special Edition she had more screen time than just about any other background character at Jabba's Palace. She was listed in the credits! But so many people say, "Why would you want her?" BECAUSE SHE WAS IN THE MOVIE AND I AM MAKING A DIORAMA. They could make ANY character, lifeform, or object from Jabba's Palace or the cantina and I would buy it. They could release a set of nothing but tables for Jabba's palace and I would buy it. Pause the screen for any shot of Jabba's Palace. Point to something on screen. They put it in plastic; I'll buy it.

I don't know about anybody else, but I don't decide to like or dislike a character based on how much screen time that character had or whether they were in the credits. The key grip was in the credits to and I am not interested in seeing figures of him or her either.

Although I can understand PERFECTLY why some people want the Yarna figure, (I like completeness in dioramas as well, and I also view the following of characters that are not main stream as a normal and reasonable aspect of being a fan of any story) I just do not agree with it for this one character. I find the Yarna character to be deplorable, disgusting, and completely unnecessary to the plot of the movie in even the most remote way. At least the Twi'lek dancer had a purpose, she was used to show us that there was something horrible in the pit. And it is perfectly OK with me if other people like the Yarna character or even go so far as to pine over her with a sick, twisted infatuation. But I will add that the thing I do not understand is the frustration that some people have about some others not caring for Yarna. I would expect the Yarna-Lovers to be the first to understand other people's desire to vote for a figure whether or not it is Yarna.

If Yarna gets made, I will buy her because I am a completist. If she does not, I will not care an iota and I will buy the character who gets immortalized in plastic.

But in closing I would like to say. It is OK with me if you like Yarna (and when I say "you" it is a general address to everybody, not just Droid. I just happened to use Droid's post as an example). Please let it be OK with you if I don't.

Well I have no 'infatuation' (no pun intended I'm sure) with Yarna. Hands up who does...in the air where we can all see them. ;) I don't remember anyone implying they have 'Slave Leia' type fantasies with regard to Yarna. I just want to see this background character made like a lot of other background characters have been made. I see no reason to discriminate. Shes an ugly character. So what. So are 95% of Jabbas palace. She doesn't contribute to the plot in any way. So what. Neither do 95% of Jabbas Palace. Ephant Mon got made. So should Yarna. Though incidentally I voted for Hermi, Yarna would come second (partly because I missed 2 of the Band Pairs and so my Band/Band entourage is incomplete as it is).

I can understand why people voted for Expanded Universe characters. They stand less of a chance than obscure film characters of being made in the basic line. I don't want an EU figure to actually win but they're a big portion of the list as well they would I suppose since Hasbro gave that option.

The ones I really don't get or agree with in the slightest are the clones. Hasbro already knew there was huge demand for clones. They didn't need Fans choice to tell them that. Hasbro have already demonstrated that they intend to make all the clone variations even EU ones. Sales of same have already proven to Hasbro that clones have a huge market. Therefore Neyo and that other one were guarantees irrespective of their appearance on this list. They are therefore IMO a complete waste of space here and most certainly should not win.

Goody! Then we are all in agreement that getting mad about something as simple as what vote another person cast in an action figure poll is ridiculous and we can move on to more important threads like what accessories should come with the 12" Sideshow gems!:D

Why not toss in a tiny Ikrit and make it a 3-pack? Ikrit's so small, he doesn't even need articulation.

Speaking of SW bunny rabbits. . .

Y'know who I'm surprised didn't make the top 25? Jaxxon. I know he must've been #26. He must've been.

I like Yarna because (as a kid) she was one of jabba's TWO dancers. Yeah, that is right. I have accepted SE, but when I was young there were only two main dancers: Yarna and the Twi'lek. Looking at my collection, I have sy, droopy, rodian clarinet guy, max, barquin, joh, and all of the dancers except YARNA. SHE IS THE ONLY ONE MISSING! It is a no brainer.

Is Jaxxon Jax, the meat-eating rabbit from the Marvel Comics series on the list? He's my favorite EU character. Did anyone else out there ever read those issues? Damn, they are great.

I don't think dead works. At least if they did make one we wouldn't have to worry about a action feature.:hurt: Oh wait it could have a Rigomortis action feature. The package could read, see Padme decompose right before your eyes. Now that's a toy!!

I also posted this in the Funny Star Wars movie thread, but it is relevant to the Fans' Choice Figure:

On MySpace, there is an IceCreamMakerGuy thread that is pretty funny and it includes video footage from Empire Strikes Back (just the stuff you saw in the movie) with ICMG.

Willrow Hood is the star of Star Wars again:

http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=messageboard.viewThread&groupID=100001201&page=0&EntryID=14318705&CategoryID=0&get=1&adTopicId=12&lastpagesent=1&Mytoken=DE380900-9929-6660-D1E7CA8313154EF549709577

There is even a rumor that Master Replicas is going to release his Ice Cream Maker!

Too funny.

My vote went to Yarna. If the Ice Cream maker dude wins, I'll laugh my head off - I'll get him, but I find it hillarious such an obsure character has finally made true ripples on such a poll - I'm happy for all those that really want him made!

The poll should have been limited to never-before-made characters (or with outfits). If Maul wins, someone will take a lightsaber to the chest!!!!

While I know Luke isn't going to win, I'd like to see Yarna or Darth Malak win this. ICMG is novelity, IMO, and really doesn't need a figure, however, if he wins, Ill buy it. Who's to say it's not rigged. A quick (however, probably easily disposed of) theory on how it could be rigged, in a couple of neat and orderly points!:

A.) How in the hell did Darth Maul make this list? I'm all for a fully-super-articulated Darth Maul, however you know someone HAD to have stuffed the ballot box on this one. It makes no sense at all, I didn't see one request for Maul on ANY fan boards, thus leaving me to wonder if Hasbro/TF found a few characters, dare I say, TOO OBSCURE?!? If he wins, I won't break my neck complaining, and I bet we'd see a nice, Super Articulated Darth Maul, even better than the already brilliant Evoultions Maul.

B.) Why was Luke Skywalker pull (along with Vader and the Endor Rebel Trooper) from the Battle of Endor Wave? If Hasbro did not know, they do now, that fans (esp. me!!) want to see a brilliantly done Super Articulated "Final Duel" Luke Skywalker. Upon him being in the top 25 could have pushed Hasbro to pull Luke from the Endor wave and start production on this one for next year (wether he win FC or as just a basic figure, which I would prefer). Luke being on this list was not a bad thing at all, in fact I think it was great. Hopefully we'll see a perfect, SA Throne Room aka Final Duel Luke next year.

C.) Who's to say they're even tallying votes or tracking IP's? Super computers (my best friend having one) would block another computer tracking IP's, so who's to say the Darth Maul radicalists aren' t jacking up votes now? Hasbro may have let the fan's pick in round one, yet may have taken control in round two to insure sales. Clones and Core Characters were a given, so they threw in the one's they knew fan's were b*tching about the most (Marine, Neyo, Luke, Maul), then to even it out, put in the fan favorite OT background characters, again those who fan's b*tch about the most (Hermi, ICMG and Yarna), and finally rounded it out with a nice EU selection (Vos at the forefront, followed by Cult Classics like Mara Jade Skywalker and Kyle Katarn. Could this just be some huge conspiracy?!?

Again my theories could be disproved fairly easily, and are all in good fun. Im sure Ive dealt myself into this waaaaaaaayyyyy too deeply, but hey, it's all good.

Does anyone know when it ends and we'll see results?

As it's been stated it is most likely a figure that Hasbro already had in the works. Make a bet that Willrow Hood (Ice Cream Maker Guy) or Yarna are NOT on the short list, though they undoubtedly got the lion's share of the votes.

I'd be extremely surprised if one of the two of them was made (from this poll).

My guess is that it's going to be Quinlan Vos. They were probably thinking about making him already, decided to, then put the poll up. While I'd like to see him, I'd rather see Yarna made.

So while we are still in the guessing game, who do you folks think is the winner? Here's the link again so you can see who was on the list:

dindae
06-23-2006, 08:19 AM
I doubt that it is the Galactic Marine or Kir Kanos because I'm sure they have an agreement with Toy Fair not to release the info before hand so more people will buy the magazine. I don't think that the contest is rigged in anyway. It wouldn't make sense for Hasbro to do it. If more people vote for a figure then more people will buy the figure. Granted the results could have been scewed by fans that did nothing but vote all day but hopefully they would be able to look at the votes and realize if that was happening. But if you remember they had that issue once before with Dodanna and Antillies so they made both. Obviously if care enough to be upset they are going to make the figure. Look at American Idol typically the top 5 singers get some sort of record deal out of it just because millions of people voted for them. I'm willing to bet that if a figure got 15% of the vote or more they will be made into plastic in the next two years.
