I dont really follow a comic book series, but i did recently finish up getting all four of IDW's Beast Wars miniseries, since i loved the Beast Wars cartoon and toys from 10 years ago. They plan on doing miniseries as opposed to monthly issues, and that works perfectly for me, hopefully that way the stories will be consistently good.

Heh, I panned that comic. I liked the old BW show, and some of the con comics were pretty good. But, Furman's recent effort was lacking.

What do you think of the Generation 1 book?

I havent read any of IDW's Generation 1 comics, ive only gotten the Beast Wars ones. Im a little bored of the G1 guys now, i would like to see them expand beyond the usual stuff, maybe introduce new robots and different planets to what we usually see. In truth, i wish they would come out with a bunch of new characters and maybe push most of the G1 guys into minor roles. :)

GIJoe is somewhat sci-fi.

GI Joe has more or less turned into aimless claptrap. But, it seems to sell, so I cannot objectively fault Devil's Due for derailing a great arc about a year or so back.

At least it seems to have lost the pretense at "realism" it picked up early in the current run.

To answer for KoolAid's comment: G1 is pretty good. It is not great, but it avoids the fan-wank that I think you would be bothered by. This series is a hard reboot, and worth of look, if not tremendous praise.

I'm afraid what it basically comes down to is I'm a bit of a snob none of the big names seem to write for them Mike Mignola aside, that said if Brian k Vaughn , Rucka et al decide to take a run at starwars I'm there.

I read the Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller) for the first time a few months ago. Pretty cool stuff. I remember reading the fourth issue in a grocery store when I was nine and thinking it was the best comic ever.

I followed DD's Micronauts for it's short little run. Kinda entertaining.

Rogue II

You work in a cubicle don't you?

Not since I got out of the Air Force. I have my own office at the engineering firm I work for. But, there are cubicles just outside my office door.

I don't know if you ever saw the short-lived animated series, but I've been acused of having "the knack."

I've heard great things about Amelia Rules. I'll have to check it out.

BTW, didn't realize Dragon was still going on. Do you know if there are paperbacks of the entire run? I imagine it must be near #150 by now. Larsen was always the only Image guy able to meet a deadline.

amelia rules is great. really fun... very much like calvin & hobbes. children of all ages can appreciate it.

dragon is at ish #126... he got held up for a couple of months on it when he was EIC of image or whatever he was... but now he's back on track. most of the run is available in TPB...
