View Full Version : QUESTIONS FOR HASBRO - pt2

JediTricks
06-08-2006, 07:20 PM
Ok, here's how this will work, you folks will reply with a VOTE on the questions provided in this thread, letting us know which ones you most want to see, please vote for up to the top 3 questions you want to see asked this week.

Also, when you submit a new question, please post it separately from your votes, a moderator will later edit it, add it to the list, and delete the question's post to keep the section clutter-free. Keep the questions as clear and concise as possible, and remember that Hasbro generally doesn't answer specific questions regarding possible future products, i.e. "will you be making an AT-TE this year?".

Questions already asked:
Are there more new Vintage-Style figures coming, and if so, when can we expect them?
Will we be seeing more figures from the Expanded Universe, especially characters beyond just clonetrooper repaints?
Have you considered new playset ideas, especially modular playsets so collectors can build larger playsets from smaller sets?
Will there be more Evolutions figure sets?
Will we be seeing more Beast/Creature assortments in the foreseeable future?
What are you doing to remedy case assortment problems such as pegwarmers like Yoda and Poggle and Bren Derlin, as well as hard to find figures like 1-per-case Scorch and Commander Cody?Current list of possible questions (reply with the numbers of the questions you want to see answered most, new questions will be added to the bottom of the list so keep checking back, remember you can vote for up to 3):
Will we see more new Vehicles such as the AT-TE, Cloud Car, V-wing, etc., in the foreseeable future? Can you be specific as to which ones?
Will we see some new Creatures in the foreseeable future?
Could we get older creatures like the Bantha, Rancor, etc. re-released, and perhaps a US release of the Eopie Creature from the Episode I line which was only released in non-US countries?
What are the possibilities of getting more new Expanded Universe figures, beyond trooper repaints?
Could we get a re-release the hard-to-find Expanded Universe figures from 1998?
What is the status of the 7" Unleashed line, will there be re-releases, will there be new figures, and if so to either, when?
Will there be a 5th wave of Star Tours figures?
Are there any plans for any of the unmade Padme/Amidala figures from the prequels in the foreseeable future? If so, which ones?
Regarding the Toy Fare Fan's Choice poll figures, which figures won (or, when will the winners be officially announced) and whatis happening with them (are they designed yet, when will they be released)?
Fans always ask about more troop-builder cases, not special figures or special boxed sets, but cases of only regular basic troop-builder figures - what are the chances of seeing something like that?
What happened with the Hasbro Toy Shop "1 of every figure club" program, why did that not come to fruition, and will it ever?
Could troop builder figures be made available (indefinitely if possible) on Hasbro Toy Shop after they're taken out of regular circulation?
Will the 501st Clonetrooper using the Super Articulated body ever be made available on a basic card?
Will we ever get a Spirit of Anakin figure based on Hayden Christensen as seen in the Original Trilogy DVD release?
What are the chances of seeing Vintage-Style figures for prequels characters?
What are the chances of seeing some or all of the A New Hope holochess pieces as action figures?
Will there ever be the curved Cantina bar end piece, and if so, when and how will it be made available?
Why does Hasbro not want to discuss specifics in regards to possible upcoming products when Hasbro has no competition for making Star Wars action figures?
What is the status of the Star Wars Transformers line, will there be more sets, and if so, when and what next?
Why did Hasbro suspend the 7" Unleashed line popular with fans and use the brand name for a line of Unleashed Battle Packs 2" micro-statues?
How does Hasbro cope with lines such as Unleashed Battle Packs, Star Wars Custom Choppers, etc., which fans believe from the outset won't work, and then the lines fail as suspected?
What is the status of Action Fleet under its original concept - minifigure interaction and true play features?
What is the status of actual Micro Machines (the smallest vehicles Galoob regularly made in plastic)?
When will there be more new Galactic Heroes figure sets, and what will they be?
Will the Galactic Heroes line be getting any more new vehicles such as a TIE Fighter, an AT-AT, etc.?
What is the status of Playskool's Jedi Force line? (because this is a Playskool brand and not Hasbro, Hasbro's rep may not be able to answer this - JT)

What is the status of the Force Battlers line?
Will there be any more Star Wars entries into the Mr Potato-Head line? (again, because this is a Playskool brand and not Hasbro, Hasbro's rep may not be able to answer this - JT)
What are the chances of more popular or rare vehicles such as the TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, Tatooine Skiff, etc., being re-released?
Many collectors are frustrated with exclusives which are often hard to find due to scalper draw, limited or uneven distribution, and exclusives to chains not available in certain areas. While understanding that exclusives are an important part of getting certain items released, as well as a tool for Hasbro's dealings with their retail partners, what can be done to remedy this ongoing problem so that collectors can feel like Hasbro cares about their interests and concerns?
Having met some of you at SD Comic-Con, where I've been able to talk to you and learn all sorts of things about the struggle involved in making these toys, I wonder if maybe you'd consider sharing a lot more of that with collectors in general? If not, why?
Back when you were posting updates about the Fan's Choice figure development on your site, it did a lot to generate interest. Any chance that you'd go back to doing somethig like that? If not, why?
I've seen the Kenner and Galoob logos on a few things lately. Is that just a "special" thing, or are we looking to see a relaunch of some old brands?
When should we start getting excited about toys for the new Star Wars TV show?
Will there be any new Star Wars Titanium Series 3" vehicle sculpts that have not already been prototyped? (i.e. AT-TE, Ep 2 Jedi Starfighter, etc.) What about Ep I Die Casts that were never released?
What is the future of the 6" Ultra Titanium Series line?
Are more properties aside from Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars and Transformers planned for the 3" vehicle and 6" Ultra Titanium lines?
Does Lucasfilm have the rights to the likeness for the Tonnika Sisters (ANH cantina patrons), and if so is there plans to create figures?
On the local level Hasbro gets only raw info on which items are selling at major retailers, but not specific trends such as what percentage are kids, collectors, hoarders, scalpers; nor why some figures sell poorly (is it a poor figure or the case ratio). Would Hasbro consider hiring collectors as area representatives for the Star Wars line? Vote now, and in separate posts, add new questions!

Seriously, we need some votes folks, this week's deadline is tomorrow and I'd rather not just "go with my gut" on this, because my votes are not likely to fit with what you guys want to have answered most:

22 - Action Fleet
23 - Micro Machines
25 - G.Heroes Vehicles

i would just like to say, i truely wish hasbro would do away with certain store exclusives: i.e target and toys r us, and soforth and so'on. not everybody lives close to a target store or whatever store it may be. and yes im sure alot of people live neer these kinda stores. makeing it good for buisness. but what about the little people who live in rural areas. who like me find it imposible to get these exclusives. HASBRO do we the little people matter?:squareeye and not everybody can afford to pay those upseen internet prices  i.e ebay and brians toys just to name a couple.

Exclusives are a necessary evil. Without them we get less merchandise in a year. Half of the cool ships, some battle packs and holo and solver figures wouldn't have been produced. Yes they are hard to track down, and especially without a store nearby, but for TRU online ordering has always been an option, as well as some of Walmart have been on there site. The others such as Target could always be obtained by networking with forumites here. Anyhow...

My picks
7. Star Tours (would be all three of my picks if could be), though if this one is asked refer them to this thread I started http://forums.sirstevesguide.com/showthread.php?p=474402#post474402 so that even if they just give a quick no, at least the powers that be might think and say, you know there might be some options.
14. Spirit Anakin
16. Holochess pieces

30. Good list of questions. I am curious to see if Hasbro answers them. It seems to me that whoever is running the show their doesn't really care about the hardcore collector. Even though we support the lines the best.

Here are the questions Rebelscum posted.

Rebelscum: I combined all questions that asked "will you make __ ?" into the following:
Figures - Quinlan Vos, Padme, Tonnika Sisters, EU characters, Death Star II Luke, Hermi Odle, Animated style, army builder packs
Vehicles - Cloud Car, AT-TE, Sith Infiltrator
Modular Playsets - Tantive IV, Death Star, curved Cantina bar section

Of course there are many more such question. Not sure if you can even answer these, but the bottom line is fans want to see more female figures, EU figures, and new vehicles and diorama/playsets. But you probably knew that. :)

Hasbro: In response to your question about EU figures -- there are a lot of great characters created in the EU and we plan to include some of these for 2007. And, in regards to playsets/dioramas: as the saying goes, "great minds think alike." There has been a lot of discussion internally on whether this could be successful in today's market. However, we continue to see diminished demand for playsets. If we ever see the landscape changing, it's something we could take a look at in the future.

Rebelscum: Related to the above, but also different. Regarding the VOTC/VTSC line - how are characters chosen for this line? Will it continue?

Hasbro: Not in 2006. We're looking at bringing back a Vintage assortment in Spring of 2007 just like we did this year. We choose characters based on their popularity. There are still many fan favorites to be done in the Vintage style

Rebelscum: All things end eventually, how long will the action figure line continue? Is there an end date?

Hasbro: Hasbro holds the Star Wars license through 2018, so I hope basic figures will continue at least through then!

Rebelscum: Will there ever be a subscription service/one-of-every-figure club/opportunity for fans to purchase convention exclusives, possibly through hasbrotoyshop.com? Whatever happened to the subscription program announced at Celebration III?

Hasbro:
The 501st San Diego Comic Con figures will be available on HasbroToyShop.com, but it's not possible at this time to set up the type of large-scale subscription service that I know you're referring to. Maybe down the road.

Here's a question based on Hasbro's recent "answers".

You guys stated that the market isn't out there for dioramas and such. We are telling you there is (if they are made correctly, not cheapened by things, such as added missles, poor scale, etc, and if they are properly priced). Why not make us the guinea pigs with it and see if it would generate enough from the Star Wars line? While it may not work for other lines (I have no idea why it wouldn't work with GI Joe, knowing how many playsets there were for that in the past), star wars fans have been clamoring for certain scenes, and you can't deny that.

Here's another question I would really like to have asked:

What would I have to do to get Hasbro to hire me as the Ohio Consumer Representative for the Star Wars franchise? I could tell you just how much is being found around the state, how much is being bought by collectors, hoarders and scalpers, what figures were made poorly or incorrectly, what figures don't need to be made in certain amounts, and what the problems are with certain case packs and assortments. Is there a possibility some such position could be created to help make the line as great as it could be? (and what are the chances you would hire a die hard collector who happens to need a job to buy your figures, such as me, to actually do it?)

Guinea Pigs how? I can't ask a question I don't understand. BTW, the GI Joe line is trying something like that (if I correctly understand what you mean), and it seems to be not doing well.

Voting for this week's is concluded. Thank you for voting, your votes have determined which questions we're asking. Because of the volume and the EST/PST confusion on my part, I almost missed the deadline, luckily Hasbro had extended it for this week. A new thread for voting will be up soon.

EDIT - all deleted posts with questions have been un-deleted, since clutter is no longer an issue.
