Yes it's confirmed, Hasbro did it again! Another repaint. At least this ones kind of cool and it still has the big wings. I just hope it's not 40 bucks cool! The box says it's a color variant. No word when it will be available, but I think it's a Target item.

I will get this one and set it up to flank vaders TIE with the other one. I would assume that this one will be easier to find than the original simply because it is a rerelease.

I need a bigger house to put all this stuff in. I guess next year they'll re-re-release it with battle damage too. Oh well, it looks good. I'll buy one.

I wish they'd released this one instead of the blue one . . . but, it'll be nice to have a gray ANH TIE along with the blue ESB/ROTJ one.
At least it's not the white one we heard rumors about . . . though I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro put that out too.

This isn't a bad idea. It never hurts to have more Tie fighters. If my kids were just starting to collect I'd want them to have one, so therefore it is a basic item that should be on the shelf from time to time.
Speaking of a white tie-fighter. Having a few in the vintage era makes me really want one, a) for it's nostalgic value and b) just to add some variety to a tie squadron.

I passed on the other one and now I am glad I did :D
I'll snag this guy...just because. Even though I don't really do 3 3/4 anymore, just the fact they made this scale made me REALLY want it 'cause I always wanted it as a kid...but blue? BLECH!
So yeah. Gray won me over :D

I would rather have gray than blue or white. I bought one blue the first time around, and I am going to keep it. I might have to buy at least two grays. I really like this paint scheme.

I missed out on the first release of TIE so I might have to break down and get this version. However I would like to have two of them to flank my shuttle.

I think it looks pretty cool. Now I wish I hadn't bought 3 of the blue ones :dead: I wouldv'e just gotten two, and one grey.
I'll admit that I would probably fold and get a white one if they released it even though I shouldn't (just like I shouldn't buy a grey either).

Saw this at TRU today and got it. I like the grey color alot better than the previous blue, though they look nice side by side.
This is a bit on the pricey side, though an extra $5 is worth me having an item than just adding to a wish list for a few years hoping they make it.
Exclusives are the necessary evil for a larger collection.
After this, the x-wing, and AT-AT TRU has enough of my money.

I paid $10 for the blue large wing Tie Fighter. Clearance.
So I'm reluctant to pay four times that for the gray one. Besides, one big arse Tie fighter is enough for me. I just got the NECA Balrog. I don't exactly have a lot of elbow room right now.

It's not really as grey as I was hoping for, it still seems to have a bluish tint to it. Oh well, if I find one I'll pick it up. One of the better re-releases that Hasbro has put out over the years.
I've seen some of these on ebay and it seems that some have the new Saga TIE Pilot as the pack in figure and some have the old POTF2 Pilot. What's up with that?

It's not really as grey as I was hoping for, it still seems to have a bluish tint to it. Yeah, I noticed that when I saw it the other day, I thought it was kinda dumb to put blue back in its paint when the whole point was it was different from the blue version we got a year ago. Personally, I think they're out of their mind for charging $45, $40 was hard enough to stomach before.

Im going to be passing on this one, im not fond of the price and it being gray isnt a compelling enough reason for me to get it again. But i do think i will get the white one, even if its wings arent the right size. That one appears to stand out simply because of its color.

I just realized that we've gotten one TIE Fighter per year for the last three years. 2004 Hasbro rereleased the TIE with the new cockpit design, 2005 we got the new cockpit and larger scale wings, and now in 2006 we get the new cockpit, larger wings and a different shade of blue.
What do you think Hasbro will do for 2007? Oh wait, aren't we getting another stubby winged TIE with a flip top canopy? :dead:
As much as I like the standard TIE fighter, I'm kind of wishing that Hasbro had taken this opportunity to rerelease the TIE Interceptor with the new cockpit design.
Of course, you can just stick the Interceptor wings on one of the new TIEs, but the coloration doesn't match up.

Wait! Are you serious? It's frickin' $45??
Damn, I wanted this too, but not at THAT price. I felt screwed by the $40 pricetag before with the blue one.
It's a damn shame Hasbro has to do that. Yes, I know it's the retailer that's setting the price, but these things would "fly" off the shelves at say $30.
I mean really, it's the same damn cockpit from back in the day. So it's just bigger wings....not much here. No moving parts on the wings. They are basically flat so the molding was easy to create.
Well, there goes my chance at a fleet of them, unless they clearance. I don't like to do that, but in this case I'm going to. if they come down to $30 I'll buy them up, but not before then.

Totally! $30 is the right price, I guess the size of the packaging complicates that matter though, but $30 would have really made this piece move for TRU rather than stagnate.

They are basically flat so the molding was easy to create. The cockpit is the KB-exclusive remold, where they took the battery hatch off and gave it the correct back window, but didn't take out the "laser" light dummy (which, along with the uninspiring new cockpit hatch design, is what they're doing for the '07 short-wing version).

No, it's actual gray, not blue/gray like them. It wouldn't make sense for those 2 to be gray either, only ANH TIEs were gray, the ESB and ROTJ TIEs were all blue/gray (in ANH they were using bluescreen which the very-blue TIE designs would interfere with, so they painted them gray, but by ESB they had switched to greenscreen).

I wish TRU would offer this tie fighter on the website. They have the X-wing and AT-AT up for order. Why not the tie fighter? My TRU closed down this past April, and I am not too inclined to drive 1 1/2 hours just to see if the nearest TRU has this item. Gas is too high. :(

So we'll buy it, just from the Vintage-like White Color. Then in the next year or two they'll do the large scale white version, and we'll want to buy it again for the excitement of the white tie with larger wings. Plus it fit's into the $20 price range they're trying to market.

I saw both the new TIE and the Dagobah X-wing at the TRU in Waterbury, CT yesterday. I had the X-wing on pre-order at TRU.com, but decided to grab the TIE yesterday and cancel my X-wing. The X-wing is very nice, but I just don't have the shelf space for it, whereas the TIE has a very small "footprint" on the shelf by comparison.
I have to agree that the TIE is at least $10 overpriced, but I didn't buy the KB version, so it wasn't too hard to justify. It also helped that it came with the OTC pilot figure - though I already have one, it's better than getting another of the substandard '98 figures.

I need two of the gray ties. I have one blue Target tie with the big wings, and now I need two gray ties to flank Vader's tie fighter. This scene is going to look really cool.
I agree with Banthaholic. They are doing the white tie like that so we will buy it and then buy it again when it has the large wings. That is just something Hasbro would do to us.

Big B - I've just looked at the picture at RS, and I have to say, mine doesn't look that blue. The base color is a light grey (with a hint of blue), with a wash of a darker, more bluish-grey that picks the details out pretty well.
Also, the shot at RS shows the packaged figure to be the POTF2 pilot - maybe there were two different runs, one more bluish with the older figure, one more grey with the OTC pilot?

I've seen a couple of different ones on ebay, some with the POTF2 pilot and some with the woefully-underdistributed Saga/OTC Pilot.
Thanks, so I should keep my eyes peeled for the one that is actually grey, not just a duller shade of blue.

Picked up two in Michigan, and saw a ton of these in Ohio and Kentucky on the way home yesterday. Didn't notice a difference in the ships, but they are definitely shipping with both versions of the pilot.

These things were warming the shelves at my TRU the other day. The previous version didn't exactly fly of shelves, and neither are these. They're about 5 years too late, I think - these would have made more sense when they released the properly-scaled X-Wing the first time around. Although I have that, I never did buy these TIE figters. While two of them would look much better with my Vader's TIE in a display, I just don't have the room or the money for the large, overpriced vehicles anymore.

Yes, different pilots. I have two that I bought in Michigan with the newer pilots. My local TRU here in Tenn. has 3 with the older pilots. The TRU in Florence KY had about 10 with the older pilots and 2 with the newer pilots on Saturday evening.

I'm not surprised Big Fat Lou's didn't snag all of these, Hasbro SW 4"-line exclusives that are $40 and up are usually easy to find to the point of embarassment, these pieces only move for scalpers before they come out.

The Gray TIE is awesome. My favorite so far. The weathering makes it look the most realistic of all TIES released.
What's up with the WHITE TIE? They are releasing it for the 30th Anniversary but I hear it has "dirt" deco on it. Now, I have no problem releasing a "white" TIE variant for nostalgia but I would prefer the larger scale panels. Going back to the original scale is a step backwards. It would be cool if TARGET or Walmart got the "larger scale" White TIE as an exclusive to round out our collection of modern TIES.

Totally! I got the Target blue one last year and the pic on the box showed the Saga but it came with losery POTF2, I actually made a stink and their counter was that the box says product may vary... I suspect they burned me but I do like the vehicle enough to leave it be. Plus, you can't even seen the dang figure in there anyway. :p I would like them to do an updated cockpit though, the '78 one looks pretty doofy (they eliminated the lift-up gimmick so it also sits too high).

Well, I went to the other TRU across town yesterday, and there were two more Gray TIE's. Both had the POTF2 pilots in them again, I wonder if only the first few shipments have the Saga pilots and this is a running change for less expensive POTF2 pilots? I guess we'll find out if I never see another TIE with Saga pilot again. That would be a bummer more than it already is.
