View Full Version : OK, this just makes me mad!!!

I collect the Star Wars Miniature game. I love these things, roughly AF scale, also. Anyway I'm looking on Ebay for a figure I don't have. Any guess which one??? No, okay it's Boba Fett 42/60 from the Rebel Storm set. One of, if not the hardest figure to find. I see a number listed on Ebay. Priced anywere from $10 to $40. I find one going for, right now $10. With only 1 bid, no shock. I know the name bidding from seeing it bidding on almost every single Boba Fett from the Rebel Storm set. SENORCOO. Now I don't care if this person (and I'm using that term loosely) is bidding because he doesn't have one. But the next Figure listed is going for $40 and is being sold from this same JACKA$$. I look and find he has about 4-5 other auctions going on for the same figure, ALL PRICED THE SAME. Anyway, I asking anyone here who goes to Ebay and is bidding on something if the seller is this SENORCOO. DON"T BID. This guy is a crook. And is to stupid to hide the fact that he's a thief.

So, basically, this person is buying them all and then selling them at inflated prices, what as arse.

See, VT will be all over this guy so don't worry
Some ebayers are just stupid AND bad.:whip: There was a thread on potf2 forums about ebay "bargains". Yours could go there...
There is another ebay seller who does crap like this: PLAYIDIA. I wanted to post this earlier but had to run at work and couldn't find the auction:
Super Star Destroyer he won on ebay for $142 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50282&item=200008889283)
Super Star Destroyer he sells on ebay for $180 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ST-WARS-ELECTRONIC-COLLECTOR-FLEET-SUPER-STAR-DESTROYER_W0QQitemZ290018186171QQihZ019QQcategoryZ 50266QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
I asked a friend to help me bid on a SSD since I don't have one and don't have Paypal or ebay account. There were 2 of them on ebay and both went for over 100$. I saw PLAYIDIA bidding on both and won one of them (the one with the MM star destroyer near it). I know this ebayer is not a collector, but sells back on ebay at higher price. We lost the auction due to this guy. And now the SSD is back online at higher price. Guys like these should meet Vlad the impaler for real!
AF Aliens set PLAYIDIA won on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16483&item=280012774881) at $80 and already Narcissus for sale (http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIENS-ACTION-FLEET-NARCISSUS-W-RIPLEY-ALIEN-FIGURES_W0QQitemZ290020826487QQihZ019QQcategoryZ50 261QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) at $50 and APC for sale (http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIENS-ACTION-FLEET-APC-ARMORED-PERSONNEL-CARRIER-2FIG_W0QQitemZ290020825271QQihZ019QQcategoryZ50261 QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) at $100, TIE Defender he won (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50267&item=110007381373) and Defender for sale (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-ACTION-FLEET-IMPERIAL-TIE-DEFENDER_W0QQitemZ290016089052QQihZ019QQcategoryZ5 0261QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and so on. So we wonder why AF prices are so inflated? Because guys like these want to make money on the behalf of the collectors!
VT please take care of guys like him!

From a capitalist stand point, I can't completely condem what these two guys are doing. Buy low, sell high. It's the American way.
That said, it is certainly frustrating if you are trying to get pieces to round out a collection and these types are in the mix with you. I believe I got the short end of a long stick when I was trying to get an AF Sandcrawler back when.
It just seems to me that there are far easier ways to make far more money money without treading on other people's hobbies.

Yeah I definately don't see this as a good way to make money but I hate selling anything on ebay. Jangu if you are still looking for a fett make me an offer. I have an extra I was going to use for trade but I stopped collecting them after the first set since I realised that I couldn't afford it.

I mean unless his insertion fees or final value fees are discounted somehow, it's NOT worth his time!
I mean he's put in all this money to win those other auctions then he goes and tries (and will probably FAIL MISERABLY) to resell them higher?
Putting up a $100 item costs $3.60 I beleve for the insertion fee. The final value fee will be approximately $5.00, so there's approximately $91 he gets IF his $100 item sells the first time. If it doesn't he gets one FREE re-listing and if it sells, then the new insertion fee is refundable. If it doesn't, then he has to pay another $3.60 and so on until it sells.
In other words, the more times you have to re-list an item after the second time you try to sell it, the more money you lose (hence why people who re-list items drop the price the first time it's re-listed and usually end up knocking the price up a bit when it's re-listed again the third time IF it doesn't sell).
I've seen it a million times- between the insertion fees and final value fees- PLUS the PayPal fees if someone pays via PayPal (approximately $1.25 for every $25 sent to you- so for his $100 item he'll have $5.00 in PayPal fees taken out- so he only ends up making $87 for his $100 trouble) sometimes you're lucky to break even and not go into the negatives.
I've been selling my collection on Ebay for a while, though it's been months since I listed anything because the stuff I could list I would be lucky to get retail for. I have ended up basically paying people to take my stuff before a couple of times, too, because after the insertion, final value and PayPal fees are all tallied, turns out I lost money :( It's a rarity, but it happens.
But this Playidia guy? An idiot, IMHO. Anyone who buys from him? An idiot, IMHO.
Admittedly, though I have won lots before and then sold off parts I didn't need/want, but I ALWAYS sold them for less than it cost me to get them- especially when you factor in all the fees. I'm not to ashamed about it...I just wish I was rich enough to be comfortable not selling it all anyway.
(JT please feel free to edit if I violated any rules in this post but please don't take away the rant on this Playidia guy...)
Yeesh...that really burns my buns, sergiurusu- good call!
