With the OT on DVD in just a few short weeks, I thought we should have a thread to keep track of all the various free bonuses that stores will be offering.

First off is Wal-mart (http://www.theforce.net/image_popup/image_popup_global.asp?image=http://www.collectinghq.com/im/0007899.jpg).
It looks like they'll be giving away reprints of the old Marvel Comics adaptions.
See link or attachment.

I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have Bonus DVDs with vintage featurettes than reprints of comics I already have.

I'm getting mine at WM anyway so this is a cool bonus.

I am holding out for something better than this, I don't trust pack-in comics, they usually are truncated.

Target should have coins like they did for ROTS. That was my favorite ROTS bonus.

At Target tonight, their coming soon display had the OT on it and each movie had what looked like a sticker on it that said: "Collectible Concept Art Inside" (or something close). The little picture on each sticker were all McQuarrie paintings: X-wing over the Death Star on ANH, An AT-AT on ESB, and Luke on the Speederbike (ROTJ).

So far, the comics are looking much better.

Yeah, what a weak entry Target! Come on now.

The main page shows Best Buy's exclusive (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7970715&st=star+wars+tin&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1562088). It's pretty cool, but sure as hell not $90 worth of cool. I'm assuming the final price will be lower, though, like in the neighborhood of $45-$60.

I might be missing it, but where do you see $90?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see it.

The tin doesn't look that nice, and it's full-MSRP for each set ($30 a set) but on the first day there's no way it should cost that much when everybody else is getting them down under $20.

RS has the scoop on the goodies over atCircuit City (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Circuit_City_DVD_Exclusives_99901.asp). Hopefully you won't have to buy the films to get these since they look pretty sweet.

Nice - depending on their price, it looks like I might be heading to Circuit City.

I'm leaning in that direction now. I don't have much use for the posters, but they're kewl, lol.

With less than 12 hours to go, it's roundup time!

Walmart: Reprints of the classic Marvel adaptions.

Target: Ralph McQuarrie concept art mini-posters (and a free $5 gift card when you buy Star Wars Lego 2)

Best Buy: $60 (this week) for the set in a cool metal tin.

Circuit City: Vintage poster Lithograph reprints (and a cool exclusive T-shirt when you buy Lego Star Wars 2)

And one I just heard about:
FYE: Pack of 7 exlcusive Topps trading cards

Thanks for the heads up JJL, although I'll probably go with the novels at WM.

None of those are very tempting, I guess the best bonus will be the low opening day prices. :p I am not so sure I'm going to bother with these tomorrow, the non-anamorphic transfer really sounds lousy and I can see that on my friends' laserdisc bootlegs.

Thanks Jon, those ARE sweet.
You're welcome, Caesr. ;)

TRU also has some gift cards or something. Not sure if there's a pre-loaded amount or anything.

I'm still leaning towards Best Buy and the tin.

So what's the deal with those FYE cards, anyone have a link to what they look like? I don't think we have an FYE around here...

Thanks Rockhound, those aren't anything special, very "meh" as you said. It looks like they just reprinted some of the Heritage set (reprints themselves :D ) and renumbered them. lol

On the other hand had they gone the Wal-Mart AOTC DVD route, then I'd be all over this promotion. :)
