Get a load of the slideshow here (http://www.starwars.com/episode-iv/release/video/f20060825/index.html). The number of miniscule details they changed for the SEs and DVDs is mind-boggling. This is is a pretty good list of changes about which I never knew.

To me I still like the DVD releases better. I saw the originals in the theatres and still have the originals on VHS.

Some of those "changes" are quite miniscule though. Half of them are just cleaning it and actually there were a couple of 1977 version shots that looked better.

I agree with slicker 100%.

Ony 1% with Charlie Hustle? Doesn't sound like very good odds. :D

He is here in Vegas all the time signing autographs at Caesar's Palace. I've seen him twice, but I dont' agree with paying $75 to get his autograph.

Perhaps you will notice these other subtle changes:

I disagree 101% with (there was no mother... I can't explain it well).

Good to know I am the front runner who shot in self-defense

He is here in Radioland all the time signing autographs at Theed Palace. I've seen him twice, but I don't agree with paying 75 boxes of Jim Jam Cereal to get his autograph.

I concur 60% of the time, all the time with what Nero said.

I disagree 95.012% with Slick and KH.
Hey, they're my quotes. I couldn't do with them what I wanted to before the features were available. Expect the DVDs out by November.

I'm a guy who usually hates change, but I do like some of the clean up they did on the SE versions. I plan on buying the DVD set because I am programmed by lucasfilm to do so, I MUST OBEY MY MASTER!

That didn't tell me anything new. I knew the differences from when I had seen them.

BTW, I heard a radio commercial for the DVD sets, and it said something like "Each two disc set comes with digitally remastered sound and picture, and each comes with the bonus original theatrical release". I'm paraphrasing some, but I thought the idea was to get the original theatrical version to the fans, not as some bonus item.

The idea is to re-sell the DVDs since it's been 2 years since the last release...and the OG OT bonus is just a way to achieve said re-selling.

What a poor way to do that. I might not buy it now just because I'm so upset. :upset:

It's still a way to say "look, you thought you saw what wasn't really there, but here's a way to show just how much better the 'real' movie is." I'll still get them, I think.

Bobafrett, they've been saying since the beginning that the original versions are just "bonus material" to the 2004 versions. If you feel badly about it, then just switch the discs in the packaging so that the original versions are on "disc one." :D
